In a Venezuelan hotel, Ferrari received a call from Jiang Feng, who inford him that Gonzalez had been captured. They would begin the interrogation imdiately to clarify the situation in the Ta Region and Song Heping's fate.
Just as he ended the call, his phone rang again.
Upon answering, he discovered it was Major General Rama on the line.
"Ferrari, I just received good news from ELN,"
"What good news?" Ferrari asked.
Rama said, "Song and Morins are alive. They are currently in the jungles of the Ta Region, and the Colombian Special Forces haven't captured them."
"Really?!"
Ferrari sprung up from his chair.
"General, are you sure the source is reliable?!"
"It's from the second in command at ELN, who personally sent the information. There is no mistake," Rama said. "Ten minutes ago, they received a ssage sent from a cell phone by Morins, ordering ELN to imdiately begin attacks within Colombian territory to force the Colombian governnt army to withdraw from the Ta Region."
"So you're saying... our boss isn't dead!"
Ferrari, unable to contain his joy, clenched his fist and swung it vigorously through the air.
"I knew our boss wouldn't go down that easily!"
Rama said, "That's it for now. I'm just the ssenger. I'll send you a number shortly; it's Marthas's number, the second in command at ELN. You can contact him to see how to handle this matter."
"Thank you, General!"
"Good luck to you. There are things I shouldn't get too involved in. You'll need to rely on your own, but within Venezuelan territory, I can provide the support you need. Just contact directly for anything you need. As for matters within Colombian territory, I can't get involved. I hope you understand."
"I am very thankful already," Ferrari said. "I will contact Marthas first to see what support I will need from you."
After hanging up, Ferrari looked at Henry beside him, unable to suppress his excitent, and hugging Henry like a child.
"God bless! The boss isn't dead!"
Henry asked, "Is there anything else you need to do now?"
"You..."
Ferrari released Henry and, frowning, thought hard before saying, "Check imdiately who the commanding officer of this military operation in the Ta Region is, who his family mbers are, and where they live! I need that information imdiately!"
After speaking, he vigorously pointed once in the air with his index finger.
"Henry, this concerns the boss's life and death. Don't worry about how much it costs. I need it fast!"
"No problem," Henry nodded. "Money talks."
For him, obtaining the personal details of a Colombian military commander wasn't difficult.
Over the years, the drug cartels and anti-governnt ard forces have been competing with the Colombian governnt and its army personnel.
Most of the ti, to intimidate and coerce, drug cartels would pay top dollar for personal and family details of crucial personnel within the governnt and the army. This information could fetch a good price.
Where there is demand, there will be supply. It's simple market economics.
So, in the intelligence community, personal information of military and political officials in South Arican countries has been abundant, forming an industry chain.
Not just family details, even personal records including dental records of the individual, were no problem to obtain.
After giving instructions to Henry, Ferrari imdiately took out his phone and called Jiang Feng.
The call connected quickly.
"Jiang Feng, the boss isn't dead!"
"Ah?"
Jiang Feng was still sowhat confused.
"What do you an, not dead?"
"Song Heping is not dead!"
Fearing that Jiang Feng had not understood, Ferrari emphasized again, "Our boss isn't dead! He's still trapped in the jungles of the Ta Region, evading the army's search. Sohow, he got hold of a mobile phone and sent a ssage to Marthas, the number two person in ELN, informing them that he and Morins are still alive. He asked ELN to imdiately orchestrate attacks within Colombia to pressure the governnt to withdraw their troops!"
"That's great! But..."
Jiang Feng's joy didn't last two seconds before he beca dejected again, "But what should we do now to rescue the boss?!"
Ferrari paced continuously around the room, his mind working faster than a motor.
"Let think... let think..."
He forced himself to quickly co up with a solution.
Although they now knew Song Heping was alive,
given the intense search operations, he likely wouldn't last long.
After all, Song Heping was only human, not a deity.
"What use is this guy we've captured now?! Should I just shoot him?!"
Jiang Feng, filled with frustration, wanted to kill Gonzalez to vent his anger.
"No!"
Ferrari cursed, "Are you insane?! This guy is valuable! Although the intelligence in his head is no longer useful, he himself is, being the director of operations at the Intelligence Bureau. First, take him to our previously arranged hideout. Hide there and rember to be careful on the way, don't leave any traces that could be followed. Wait for my call once you get there."
After speaking, he hung up without waiting for Jiang Feng to reply, and then opened a ssage, indeed seeing the text from Rama with a new, unknown number.
Ferrari knew it had to be Marthas's contact number, so he hurriedly called it.
Marthas answered quickly, "Is this Mr. Ferrari?"
"Yes! May I speak with Mr. Marthas?"
Trying to remain calm, Ferrari first exchanged pleasantries, but then couldn't help getting straight to the point, "Both our boss and your leader are not dead, I already know this. The General asked to contact you to see if we could collaborate in applying pressure, although we can't reveal our identities, so we can only assist you covertly. Is there anything we can help with?"
Marthas was straightforward, "Your PMC company can't really help much."
In his view, what waves could a few rcenaries make?
"I've already ordered all our units to start making trouble everywhere with all their might. Just wait and watch the news. If successful, I expect the governnt to compromise within three days and withdraw the troops."
"Not that... we can be of help..." Ferrari said, "We've just kidnapped Gonzalez from the Intelligence Bureau's operations organization."
"What?!"
Marthas spat out a mouthful of tea.
He almost thought he had heard a hallucination.
"You kidnapped Gonzalez?! Are you sure it's Gonzalez?! How is that possible?!"
"I'm sure. He was inspecting the operations at the Pasto City division today. Our company deployed a tactical team and kidnapped him on the street as he was leaving the Pasto City division,"
Ferrari's answer still couldn't convince Marthas.
What kind of international joke was this?
The director of operations of the Intelligence Bureau always had secret service protection and traveled in bulletproof vehicles; how could they just kidnap him like that?!
