Now reading: Chapter 423 - 369 Awakening from Mercenaries, I Will Be King, a Action novel by Yan Qi Guan.

Song Heping opened his eyes to a snowy white ceiling, then caught a whiff of fragrance. Turning his head, he saw a plump bottom.

Even though it was clad in a nurse's uniform, Song Heping suddenly rembered a saying—in South Arica, everywhere you go, you'll find booties that can hold a wine glass.

It was a drunken revelation from a cook he was drinking with once, who had told him that he wanted to retire to an uninhabited beach in South Arica to live out his remaining years in peace.

But Song Heping knew even then that it was just the ramblings of a drunk cook—he was not the type to settle for an ordinary life; he would either live in sheer swagger or die a blazing death.

"You're awake?"

The shapely nurse noticed that Song Heping had awoken, turned around with a smile, and said, "You've been asleep for a whole day and night, such a heavy sleeper."

Song Heping noticed that this nurse was not as dark as so of the girls he had seen in Venezuela; she was more on the fair-skinned side.

She was facing Song Heping, very close, and her ample chest approached like billowing waves, causing Song Heping to feel a sudden shortness of breath.

The curves on the monitor next to him beca lively instantly.

"I slept that long?"

Song Heping changed the subject.

"Where is this?"

"This is the Army Hospital," the nurse answered.

Song Heping asked, "Which place?"

"Venezuelan Bolívar Army Hospital," the nurse explained patiently.

Song Heping sat up from the hospital bed and then shook his head, feeling a bit of a headache...

"You were brought in by General Ramas; he made sure to leave instructions to take good care of you. Your injury is not serious now—mainly from fatigue and blood loss. You'll recover with so rest."

The nurse's English was very fluent.

Song Heping looked down at his arm and the wounds between his ribs, then at his hand which was now wrapped up like a bear's paw.

The nurse added, "The knife wound on your hand is severe, but fortunately, it did not damage the bones or tendons, which is quite miraculous."

Song Heping nodded silently, recalling everything that had happened.

He had encountered Disaster Star and the others in the Ta Jungle.

Just as he realized it was Disaster Star and got to his feet, he felt the world spin and fell down.

Thinking back, maybe it was because of the several days of intense ntal stress coupled with continuous combat, his energy was long overdrawn, not to ntion the injuries and substantial blood loss.

The only reason he hadn't fallen was because his willpower was strong enough.

But upon seeing his own people, he relaxed instantly, which led to his fainting.

"By the way, have you seen my friends?" Song Heping asked the nurse.

The nurse chuckled, "Of course, they ca over with General Rama that night. There's one particularly massive guy who looks as fierce as a black bear, almost like he wanted to devour soone. He threatened the doctors, saying if you died, he'd make the doctors join you in burial."

"Ah..."

Song Heping guessed who the massive and fierce guy the nurse ntioned was.

Who else could it be but Disaster Star?

The nurse said, "Right, are you looking for those friends of yours? They were here just a mont ago but stepped out to eat."

"No need, I'm fine. There's no need to make a fuss. You go on with your work."

Song Heping didn't want this little nurse to stay here right now.

After all, she was too seductive.

He was afraid it would burst his stitches.

The smiling nurse turned around to leave, and before she left, she said, "If you need anything, just press the call button and ask for ."

Song Heping asked, "By the way, where is the cafeteria?"

"The cafeteria?"

"Oh, the place to eat."

"You an the dining room?"

"That's right."

"If you want to eat, I can bring it to you. The general has ordered that I take full responsibility for everything concerning you here."

"No, I prefer to take care of myself."

Song Heping moved his limbs a little, feeling no particular issues.

"Just tell where it is, I'll go myself."

"You need an ID to eat here. If you're going, rember to take the patient card from your bedside."

After giving directions, the little nurse finally left.

Only then did Song Heping breathe a sigh of relief, got up, and wandered around the room for a bit, suddenly hearing gunshots in the distance.

Pop pop pop—

Pop, pop, pop—

Song Heping was startled by the sound.

He was still quite sensitive to gunshots.

After all, he had just co back from the Ta Jungle, and the scenes of battle hadn't faded from his mind yet.

But he soon realized that these gunshots didn't seem like those of combat. They resembled the rhythmic sounds of training gunfire he often heard on the training ground, not the chaotic, disordered kind.

He was in the Army Hospital, so perhaps there was a military camp nearby.

With this thought, his mind was sowhat at ease.

Just as he was about to go downstairs, he encountered Ferrari and Disaster Star, who were walking up the stairs.

"Old squad leader!"

Jiang Feng, with his sharp eyes, was the first to spot Song Heping standing at the top of the stairs on the second floor.

He dashed up in three strides, hugging Song Heping in two steps.

"You're finally awake!"

Song Heping winced as the hug made his wounds on his arm and shoulder ache, and he said grimacing, "Don't tear my stitches!"

"Ah... Hahaha..."

Jiang Feng then realized he had been too excited and quickly let go of Song Heping with much care.

"Boss, you're awake. Do you know how terrible you looked when you passed out in the Ta Jungle? I thought you were going to die."

Ferrari turned back to look at Disaster Star, pointed at him and Hunter, and said, "These two good brothers of yours, in order to save you at the first opportunity, made go find General Ramas to get a helicopter for a cross-border mission to bring you back."

Song Heping then rembered.

The spot where he had passed out was at least a hundred kiloters from the border.

When he encountered Disaster Star and the others, they were on foot, which ant they too had secretly crossed the border into Colombia.

Carrying a living person like him, even if on a makeshift stretcher, would have taken at least two days to cross the border.

He probably would have woken up halfway through.

The only explanation for waking up in the hospital was that he had been air-lifted back.

However, piloting a helicopter from Venezuela over the border into Colombia was a very risky endeavor. It required not only outstanding flying skills but also evading all the ground visual surveillance patrols.

Otherwise, once discovered, it would result in an international incident.

The question was, as a high-ranking military officer, how could General Ramas dare to join Ferrari in such madness?

That was indeed curious.

"Ramas got you guys a helicopter?!" Song Heping asked Ferrari in surprise.

A sly smile crossed Ferrari's face as he said, "Heh, he couldn't refuse. I told him, if you fell into Colombian hands, our relationship would be exposed, and he would definitely be implicated since the Colombian Governnt would certainly cause trouble."

At this point, Song Heping understood.

It seems Ferrari had threatened Ramas.

"You really have guts, threatening a general?"

He said this while looking around.

"And on his own turf?"

Song Heping couldn't help but give Ferrari a thumbs-up.

He truly hadn't misjudged Ferrari.

This was indeed the ability of a top general, soone who could stand on his own.

With him managing the company, Song Heping was very assured.

What's most important in the twenty-first century?

Talent!

"Heh, anyone can be threatened," Ferrari said. "Everyone has a weakness."

As soon as he finished speaking, Ferrari's phone rang.

He took it out, glanced at the number, then his gaze shifted to Song Heping: "It's the general."

After he said this, he pressed the answer button.

After the conversation, Ferrari said, "He knows you're awake and wants to have lunch with you."

"Have lunch together..."

Song Heping smiled.

"It sounds like a lover's date."
