Song Heping passed over the intelligence materials he had prepared earlier.

As Fei'er looked through the materials, his expression grew increasingly grave. Midway through, he glanced up at Song Heping several tis.

He was well aware that these were not the kind of materials just anyone could get their hands on.

It was quite obvious that the owner of the defense company had obtained them through so special channels.

Having started as a war correspondent, Fei'er had seen his fair share of shady dealings in wars, no less than Song Heping.

His professional instincts imdiately told him that things were not as simple as they seed on the surface.

He packed the materials back into the envelope, pushed it across to Song Heping, and said, "Song, although we get along well, there are quite a few people playing their little gas in these murky waters—"

Saying this, he unapologetically raised his hand and pointed at Song Heping before glancing at Angel.

Song Heping was forthright; he had no intention of hiding anything from Fei'er.

Because he had no room to hide.

Trying to be tricky when working with smart people didn't do any good; instead, it could ruin things that could have been done well.

"Indeed, I have my own selfish interests."

Song Heping picked up a slice of Bagoria ham and chewed it slowly, then said, "The ELN Ard Organization is my client, I am currently setting up a military training school in Venezuela, and they are my first client. I don't want to portray myself as so sort of pure-hearted individual, but taking people's money to solve their problems is a principle of business."

He paused for a mont, then laughed, "Leaving aside business and interests, just looking from a journalistic standpoint, it's sothing to see a country that claims to stand for justice and vows to eradicate drug cris actually joining forces with a drug-ridden military of another country and a drug trafficker group to eliminate another Ard Organization that isn't involved in drug trafficking."

He made a sarcastic face, shrugged his shoulders, and continued, "What is this? Is it justice? Or hypocrisy? Or perhaps, the banner of justice is nothing more than a facade, with all the filth and lice hiding beneath? Exposing such matters, doesn't this align with your ethics and principles as a journalist?"

Fei'er couldn't help but admit to himself that he was moved by Song Heping's words.

The young man before him had a very persuasive way of speaking.

Indeed.

From any perspective, reporting this news was only beneficial for himself and fitted perfectly with his public image, adding considerably to his reputation.

He couldn't help but look again at Angel.

Angel smiled and raised her glass to him.

This subtle gesture made Fei'er realize that Angel was very familiar with all the details of the issue.

He wasn't unaware of this beautiful woman's intentions.

Angel's Aunt Nancy was the Donkey Party's whip in Congress, a force to be reckoned with, and her family wielded power that was solidly in the blue camp.

With the Elephant Party currently in power, she had been continually looking for trouble.

Oh, it wasn't exactly looking for trouble.

To be precise, it was looking for chips.

Chips to negotiate with the Elephant Party.

If handled well, this matter would be entirely beneficial to Angel's family, certainly bringing great advantage.

Originally, Fei'er thought Angel was willing to help solely because of her special relationship with this Asian man; but now it seed, ha, there were benefits involved as well.

"It seems you've all found your own points of interest."

Fei'er picked up his glass, gently swirled it, watching the golden liquid and the solid iceball rotate inside, and said with deep intent, "This matter involves military operations and touches upon the White House's policy towards Colombia. If I get involved, it's not just to embarrass them but might also disrupt many of their plans. But what benefit can I get out of the military side and the Elephant Party?"

"Resources."

Angel said, "If the news breaks big, I can guarantee you more favorable access at networks like CNN. And then there's the fa, Fei'er. I know you're not too interested in money, but right now, you really need the fa. You were hoping to sign with a newspaper to get the editor-in-chief position for more dia exposure, but unfortunately, after getting you to sign, they've trapped you in that position, limiting your potential and not allowing you to resign. Haven't you considered that there might be a hidden story there?"

Fei'er's face suddenly beca upset.

Of course he was not oblivious to it.

Because of his coverage of the wars in Afghan and Illiguo years ago, he had offended the Elephant Party. Although he gained quite a bit of fa at the ti, with nurous stations and newspapers seeking cooperation, eventually he signed with his current newspaper, which offered the best terms and the editor-in-chief position.

However, just a few months after starting his job, he realized he had been a fool.

It was a trap.

On the surface, that newspaper had been a neutral dia outlet.

But as soon as he started working there, a dia tycoon from the Elephant Party imdiately acquired the paper, taking full control of its operation.

Whatever hidden intricacies existed, Fei'er was not clear on.

What he knew was that he had been trapped.

He could resign if he wanted to, but doing so would lead to a series of lawsuits and require a hefty termination fee. If he chose to stay at the newspaper, he was effectively locked in place, unable to utilize his talents.

This was a typical case of "death by a thousand cuts."

Gradually trapped, he had not produced any eye-catching news in the industry for years, steadily eroding his popularity.

The contract was for ten years.

Only just over two years had passed, aning he would be trapped for more than seven years.

After those seven years, once his aura of fa had faded, he would have to start over from scratch.

That was the very reason for Fei'er's distress.

"Of course, I'm aware of the inside story."

Fei'er angrily drained his glass, exhaled the alcoholic fus, and said, "Fine, I'm in. But I don't have many resources left now, and I doubt I can get this ssage published in the newspaper I'm editing."

Angel said, "I'll take care of everything. CNN will set up a special interview for you, inviting you to a current events program. Before that, what you need to do is attend a DOD press conference and pose the question, wait for it to fernt."

"To throw the question out first is a bit risky," Fei'er said. "If they discover the operation leak ahead of ti, will they still proceed as planned?"

Angel said, "You're the expert here, do I need to teach you? I'm asking you to pose a question, not reveal your hand. Keep it ambiguous, without substantial evidence. Do you think the military and the Elephant Party will stop their operation just because of your vague question?"

Before Fei'er could answer, Song Heping answered first.

"They won't. This operation is too important for them; they'd only stop if absolutely necessary, as the costs are too high. AUC is putting everything on the line to take down the ELN Ard Organization in one go. It's a large-scale joint operation. If both the Colombian Military and the US Military withdraw, I'm confident that the ELN Ard Organization will co out on top, and they won't get a second chance. Of course, they don't know this yet, so I guess the US Military and the Colombian Military would think about organizing another operation next ti."

Fei'er stroked his chin and pondered for a mont, then said, "If they do stop the operation, then I get nothing out of it."

Song Heping said, "Don't worry, I'll make sure you get the benefits you deserve. That, I'll arrange."
