"Will these gears be left for us after the mission?"
An hour later, inside the ISA front-line command's arms vehicle, Song Heping's eyes lit up as he looked at the neatly arranged HK416 rifles on the gun rack.
He picked one up to test the feel, finding it quite comfortable.
Although it wasn't much different from the MK18, this thing perford better.
"ISA really splashes the cash, huh? I heard Delta only started to get equipped with the first batch last year, and now you guys already have so many?"
After saying that, he picked up an AN/PVS-14 night vision device, turned on the power, and looked outside with it pressed to his eyes.
Next to him, Niki said, "A set of this stuff costs enough to buy a luxury car."
"You guys must be taking kickbacks, right? So expensive?!" Song Heping said with a cheeky grin, turning to look at her: "Niki, this ti I haven't talked with you about the operation fee. We've only got 12 people here, one set each isn't too much to ask, right?"
Niki turned her head and glanced at Jiang Feng and Collins behind her.
Those guys, like hungry wolves in a flock of sheep, were nearly hanging every cool piece of gear on themselves.
This level of equipnt is tough for private PMC companies to co by; a lot of it is only just being issued to US Special Forces and isn't sold to outsiders.
"With all that gear on you, can you even move in the mountains?"
Niki couldn't help but mock them when she saw their greediness.
Jiang Feng didn't like this Arican woman and retorted with his neck outstretched, "What's it to you? I might as well not take anything and not go on the mission. Would you go instead?"
Niki was speechlessly choked by his words.
This bunch really knew how to take advantage of a situation.
She then looked at the other eight guys, who seed indifferent to all these fancy items.
Even Gabri, after looking over the gear, said: "Why are there no AKMs? We'd better just go back and bring our own gear."
He didn't an these things weren't high-end enough.
Rather, they were too high-end.
These guys were trained in the Falcon School in Venezuela; the school indeed had M4A1s and AMKs, but most of the ti, they used AKMs more often, so in Gabri and the others' view, using AKMs was more handy than using these so-called high-end items on the rack.
Song Heping was so irked he almost kicked Gabri off the truck with a kick to the butt.
The kid was at least honest.
No wonder he ended up being chased by the underworld when he was a cop in Brazil.
What the hell.
If you can freeload, why not freeloading?
If you really think they're not good enough, you can always switch back to your AKM in the truck, right?
Just like Niki said, a whole set of HK416 plus helts, bulletproof vests, carry gear, reconnaissance devices, and night vision equipnt could indeed buy you a luxury car.
Not taking it?! Only an idiot wouldn't.
He quickly made eye contact with Jiang Feng.
He couldn't make the request personally, but Jiang Feng could.
Jiang Feng, indeed Song Heping's trusted comrade, imdiately understood with just a look, and started berating Gabri: "Gabri, is your head filled with water?!"
He picked up an HK416 and proficiently demonstrated its operation, then said, "You're not going to use one with scopes and night vision goggles? Safety's here, chambering here... is it that hard?! You get to keep this whole set of equipnt for yourself in the future, only a total moron would reject it! Saving money for our Arican boss, huh?!"
Gabri turned beet red, he wasn't so dumb as to be beyond saving and imdiately caught on to the boss's intent.
"Take it! Of course, take it! I was just saying the AKM felt a bit more familiar, but this rifle..."
He picked up the HK416 assault rifle, looked it over, and said, "It's not bad either, I suddenly find it very comfortable."
Song Heping laughed and said to Niki, "See. My people like it. It's settled then; you can report this to Miles later. Just say I'm being stubborn and if I'm not assuaged, I won't go on duty, how about that? I won't make things difficult for you."
Niki shook her head and sighed.
Song Heping... how should you describe him?
Although this is the second ti working together, there's always a surprise each ti.
As everyone began to pick out gear, Song Heping started to get dressed while talking, "Everyone listened to the briefing just now; our operation this ti has one word - speed! We must get in and out quickly, absolutely no dragging our feet, or else once Ata forces notice, they will surely rally everyone to hunt us down. Even the Aricans don't have an exact count on how many terrorists are near the target site's local branch, but it is at least a thousand, maybe more. If we get surrounded, then we're in for so real trouble."
"As for the operational subsidy this ti, not a penny less will be given. The company will provide the subsidy according to the fifth-tier standard, with a $100,000 reward for each person after completing the mission. If you die, rest assured, the insurance company will compensate the beneficiaries according to your previous agreents, and there's an additional $300,000 death benefit from the company per person. This benefit standard definitely won't be low; if you really will die, then I can only say - go to your death in peace."
"Of course, I hope everyone cos back alive. Rember, follow closely, obey , and I will let you savor the sweet wine of victory. Once back, we'll drink to our heart's content! Let's go, brothers!"
Having said that, the leader headed toward the helicopter on the clearing.
Soon, a Black Hawk Helicopter soared into the sky, with two Apache Attack Helicopters following in flight.
In the darkness, Song Heping watched the lights of the US Army camp on the ground gradually shrink until they were just a small square.
The helicopter lightly tilted its nose in the air, changed direction, and flew towards the Abba Border in the southeast.
Song Heping sat by the helicopter hatch with noise-cancelling headphones on, gazing down below.
The night ground of Afghan was pitch black.
This darkness was not like that of the countryside in normal countries.
It was an endless blackness that seed like death's hell itself.
Not a sliver of light could be seen.
The further southeast they flew, the more silent it beca.
Only the communication through the headphones could be heard, along with the vibration caused by the helicopter's rotor blades slicing through the air and the currents they whipped up.
The border mountain region is the hiding place of the Ata Organization.
Currently, most of Afghan's major cities are under the control of the US Army.
Only border areas serve as refuges for the Ata Organization.
Like they did against the Soviet Army back in the day, they moved into the mountains, reopened the long-abandoned tunnels, and burrowed into the hollowed-out mountainsides. Even if the Aricans dropped large Ground Penetrating Bombs overhead, they still stubbornly held onto this area. When cornered, they would retreat into Ba Country's territory.
Once they crossed over, the Aricans could only look on helplessly.
They could only coordinate with Ba Jun to organize military operations for sweep and raids.
However, many in Ba's intelligence departnt and military sympathized with Ata, so these operations often were compromised before they even began. They usually ended up with more bark than bite, with a few Ata mbers killed followed by grand propaganda outlets. It was rumored that troops from multiple countries would kill innocents to claim achievents, a frequent bad practice on the magical land of Afghan.
"Ten minutes to go!"
Finally, the pilot signalled the tiline over the channel.
Song Heping turned back, gestured to the people in the cabin, and repeated, "Ten minutes to go!"
...
"Five minutes to go!"
...
"Begin fast-roping!"
The crew inside the cabin threw down the ropes and shouted to everyone who had already stood up: "GO! GO! GO!"
Gabri took the lead.
This was his first helicopter fast-roping experience outside of Falcon School.
Below lay mountainous terrain.
Luckily, the trees here were not dense.
Many of the mountains were bare.
However, the dust kicked up by the helicopter still obscured the view through the Night Vision Goggles.
Grabbing the rope, Gabri leaped out, squeezed the rope between his feet, sliding down rapidly toward the ground.
Fast-roping was conducted through both doors simultaneously.
Four people quickly descended.
On the ground, Gabri swiftly unfolded his position, establishing a security periter around the landing zone.
"The ground is secure!"
"GO! GO! GO!"
The crew chief kept shouting frantically.
Finally, it was Song Heping's turn.
He descended faster than the others.
The soles of his combat boots even gave off a scorched sll.
After hitting the ground, Song Heping crouched and sprinted away, quickly moving out of the choking cloud of dust that was obscuring the view around him.
