The sniper at the rear of the small squad had his head blown open, his cap blasted off.
Less than a second after Song Heping fired, Willie also pulled the trigger.
Pop pop pop—
Pop pop pop—
Two n in the Vanguard Team ahead instantly fell.
Willie's marksmanship was absolutely on par with his decades of experience as an old guy, given the accuracy of his long-range burst shots.
The small squad's response was swift.
Imdiately after the attack, the leader shouted a tactical phrase.
"Contact! Contact!"
The team mbers quickly scattered in different directions, looking for cover.
"Man down! Man down!"
Everyone understood they had walked into an ambush and that a sniper was lurking nearby, so one of the mbers threw a Smoke Bomb after diving behind a mound.
But as he half-squatted to launch the smoke bomb, he failed to pinpoint Song Heping's position and exposed half of his body.
Song Heping promptly sent him a "peanut".
Pop—
This unlucky fellow was hit in the neck, flung out, blood spurting out like an arrow.
Willie whispered, "You control the situation, I'll circle around."
No need for lengthy explanations between tactical experts.
A word or two and they imdiately understand each other's intentions.
Willie packed up his rifle and swiftly left, disappearing into the night.
The communication channel of the mysterious small squad hidden behind the mounds and stones imdiately exploded.
"Who saw that guy?!"
"Seems like on our left side!"
"Exact location unknown!"
"Distance?!"
"About 300-500 ters!"
"It's an expert, seems like just two people!"
"Two people?! Could it be the target duo?!"
"SHIT! Probably them!"
"FUCK! How did we get counter-ambushed by them?!"
"How many of us are down?!"
"Three! Kelson, Morton, and New are all dead!"
"FUCK! Listen to , everyone, perk up your ears. I'll act as bait in a mont, and he will definitely shoot at . I only have one shot; you have to locate him! Then Gale and Cates will provide suppressive fire on him, the rest scatter smoke bombs in different directions for interference, then we'll encircle him from multiple sides and see how many directions he can cover at once!"
"OK!"
"OK!"
Tactical arrangents were quickly made.
The captain of this small squad was nad Seth, with the nickna "Blood Demon," an exceptionally experienced veteran of the Special Forces, who was composed and ruthless.
Several seconds later, a few of them threw their smoke bombs.
The surroundings imdiately filled with smoke, thick plus billowing.
Smoke bombs also emit high heat when burning and releasing smoke, providing so thermal interference.
Seth glanced at a pile of stones in front of him and another large rock where he was; the two were ten ters apart.
His target was right there.
A ten-ter distance would take only two or three seconds to rush over.
He took off his tactical pack to reduce his load as much as possible and waited for the smoke bombs to produce the thickest cover before he burst out in a sprint.
In two or three seconds, the opponent should miss the shot due to it being night and with the added interference.
If he missed even one shot, it would reveal his sniping position.
Seth wanted to gamble with himself.
"He definitely can't be that fast..."
He had barely gone five ters when Seth heard sothing exploding beside him.
Pop—
He lost.
He couldn't even let out a scream as his running body, like a suddenly out-of-control car, crashed into the mound beside him and never got up again.
Blood quickly seeped from beneath him, staining the ground red.
As Seth rushed out of the rock pile, Song Heping in the distance calmly squeezed the trigger.
A fatal shot, swift and clean!
It was quiet all around once again.
"Boss! Boss!"
The small squad's team mbers sensed sothing was wrong.
Everyone was calling for the squad leader.
But Seth remained completely unresponsive.
The hearts of the others gradually sank into an icy cellar.
At the sa ti, they also felt the cold.
Before this mission comnced, according to the operation brief, Song Heping was just a PMC company leader, with the biggest threat being Willie, a veteran who had served in the US Special Forces for over a decade.
When assessing the target's threat level and combat efficiency, the mbers of the "Vulture" squad all thought this mission was going to be a cakewalk.
It was just about killing two people, right?
Bearing the premise of elite Special Forces experience and sufficient internal intelligence about the duo's route back to Abba, they thought they had all the advantages.
From a force perspective, 27 operatives in three small teams VS a 2-person sniper team, it was almost a guaranteed victory!
Who would have thought that like a hawk that has played with prey all its life, it would be blinded by the peck of another hawk at last.
To start with, four of their operatives were taken out, and now even their squad leader was down.
Without their squad leader's command, those left could only focus on self-preservation and were unable to respond.
Seth had originally planned to encircle and clean out the sniper by ordering his n to scatter in different directions after drawing the sniper's fire and determining the sniper's location.
But when the gunfire sounded, the remaining n didn't hear any orders from their boss.
"What's going on? The boss seems…"
"He seems to be dead…"
"Dead?!"
"I saw him, lying in front of a large rock."
"How is that possible?! How the hell did that guy do it?"
"Never mind how, what are we going to do now! The boss is down!"
"Imdiately notify the other teams, inform them we've been attacked, ask them to co reinforce us quickly."
"Already reported! They're on their way here."
"Then don't move! This sniper is too accurate, and although only four of us are left, as long as we hold our ground here, they can't get close. If they are willing to face off with us here, that would be perfect!"
After all, this is a mature tactical squad. With the squad leader down, it is natural for the squad's second-in-command to take over the responsibility of command.
"Right, we can't go out now!"
In truth, dispersing as Seth had said would indeed increase survival odds. No matter how skilled the sniper, due to the high magnification of the scope, the field of view is quite narrow - it's impossible to track several targets at once.
If everyone ran in different directions, at most one would be sacrificed; it's not possible to kill all four at once.
As soon as the other side fired the first shot, they were confident they could determine Song Heping's sniper position.
With the position known, they could conduct fire suppression, then coordinate and converge from different angles to take down that damn sniper.
"We must risk a dash out of the sniper's control zone right now, or waiting here is a road to death!"
Gale, who had just taken over command, was instead a beacon of clarity, raising objections when he heard everyone intended to hold their ground and wait for reinforcents.
Because he suddenly realized nearby silence was terrifying.
There should be two of them.
One with a sniper rifle, then the other would certainly be with an assault rifle, which is the typical configuration of a two-man sniper team.
Now there was no sound from them.
In the darkness of night, nobody knew if one of them would take the opportunity to flank them and attack from a different direction.
Gale was very much awake.
Hiss—
Hiss—
Smoke Bombs were thrown from the hiding spots of each person, and after landing, they began releasing copious amounts of smoke.
Song Heping watched those clouds of smoke, and as they slowly rose, the position of his scope remained firmly locked onto where Vice Squad Leader Gale was.
He had noticed earlier that this person definitely had a special status in the team.
Killing him was most valuable among the four remaining.
Seeing them throw Smoke Bombs again, it was almost certain that the opponents were planning to escape, scattering in different directions. Once they did that, there was absolutely no way for him to kill all four at once; he could only take down one.
And that one would be Gale.
The current highest commander of this small squad.
Making him the primary target, there was absolutely no issue.
A small red patch suddenly flickered through the screen of thick smoke.
Song Heping's finger had been prepped on the trigger, waiting just for this mont.
He had already predicted the direction of Gale's escape, had aid in that place, and calculated the lead.
Bang—
The Warhead traveled through the smoke.
Gale, who was running desperately, fell headlong to the ground, raising a cloud of dust.
"Heh..."
Gale struggled, turning his body to face upwards toward the sky.
The starlight was beautiful tonight.
In a place like the Abba Border Mountain Area, one could see the Milky Way when looking at the night sky…
