Now reading: Chapter 1098 - 1098 One Thousand Eighty-One Medal and Badge from Mercenary’s War, a Action novel by Just Like Water.

1098: Chapter One Thousand Eighty-One: dal and Badge 1098: Chapter One Thousand Eighty-One: dal and Badge Gao Yang had just arrived in Damascus when the Syrian authorities granted him the rank of major to facilitate his work, while at that ti, Colonel Kuteli occupied the higher rank.

Then, as Gao Yang continued to achieve victories and the Syrian authorities had no other way to reward him, Gao Yang’s rank kept being promoted — first to lieutenant colonel, and then in just a few days he beca a colonel, on par with Kuteli who held the highest rank at the airport.

It did not take long at that rank though, as Gao Yang was soon promoted to brigadier general.

This is why Gao Yang was about to leave; otherwise, if it had been a Syrian officer being promoted so rapidly before Kuteli, it would have surely stirred so thoughts in Kuteli’s mind.

But now, Kuteli showed no signs of dissatisfaction and after exchanging a few pleasantries with Gao Yang, he insisted that Gao Yang stand in the forefront of the greeting line, thus setting his position there.

The squadron arrived, a total of four helicopters landed on the ground one after another.

The first to disembark was the Presidential Guard, and lastly, the door of Bashar Assad’s helicopter opened.

The modified helicopter’s gangway was lowered, and Bashar was the first to walk out.

Dressed in a suit and smiling broadly, as the greeting party saluted him imdiately, Gao Yang also raised his hand and rendered a military salute to Bashar.

Gao Yang’s hand was still in salute when Bashar raised his.

Waiting for Gao Yang to lower his saluting hand and as they shook hands, Bashar, with a smile, said in English: “I know you, you are General Ram.

I have heard your na many tis, thank you for your contributions to Syria, General Ram.”

Having studied in the United Kingdom, Bashar spoke English very fluently, and he emphasized on the word “General”.

Gao Yang nodded: “It’s my honor, Mr.

President.”

Bashar nodded, turned around, and went to shake hands with Colonel Kuteli, followed by his brother and the de facto second-strongest figure in Syria, Marshal Bassad, stepping in front of Gao Yang.

Gao Yang saluted Marshal Bassad, who after returning the salute, said in a low voice: “Well done, but I hope you can keep it up.”

Gao Yang smiled and replied, “If opportunities arise, General.”

In such a setting, too many words were not possible.

Bashar shook hands with everyone present, including all mbers of the Satan rcenary Corps, after which the group began walking towards the airport command building.

The eting was held in front of the airport command building’s foyer, already filled with people at this point.

As everyone stood and applauded Bashar’s arrival, Bashar directly went up to the podium.

There were eight steps to enter the building, raising it slightly more than one ter above the ground.

Bashar stood directly behind the placed microphone, while the high-ranking officials with him took their seats behind Bashar.

Bashar delivered an impassioned speech, praising every departnt present and highlighting the heroic deeds and role of the Republic Guard Special Strike Force.

The Special Strike Force, commanded by Marshal Bassad and being part of Bashar’s inner circle, exemplifies a flagship and a model.

Marshal Bassad, though lacking enough patience, put great efforts into establishing this unit, which surely could not have been established without Bashar’s approval and attention.

After praising all three military units participating in the war and reiterating that they would eventually triumph over the Rebel Army, Bashar waved his hand and loudly declared: “In the recently concluded campaign, our forces achieved a significant victory!

On the battlefield to the east of Damascus, under our powerful offensive, the Rebel Army retreated step by step.

We have recaptured a vast area previously controlled by the Rebel Army.

Now, it can be declared that the Rebel Army’s siege of Damascus has completely failed, and this victory began with a fatal blow to the enemy’s command system.

You have rendered great service to the nation; you are all heroes of Syria!”

After nearly forty minutes of speaking, the climax finally arrived.

Bashar waved his hand again, loudly proclaiming: “I declare, comndation for all soldiers who participated in the war, and awarding the dal of Courage, and for all wounded personnel, the dal of Valiant Injury.”

After finishing his speech, an officer holding a tray approached him, and then Bashar loudly said: “Please, mbers of the Independent 3rd Infantry Brigade Reconnaissance Squadron, co upstage.”

The first batch that ca up to receive the dals was Ludwig’s direct subordinates.

Gao Yang felt a bit regretful; if only the notice had co a bit earlier, it would have been better if Ludwig and his team had not left.

Bashar personally adorned the dals on the n of the Third Infantry Brigade, then shook hands with each, offering encouragent.

This did not take long as there were only seven individuals able to stand here and receive the comndation; the rest were either fallen or still lying in hospitals.

After distributing the dals one by one, the event was not yet over, as Bashar seriously declared: “I hereby grant the Independent 3rd Infantry Brigade Reconnaissance Squadron the designation ‘Scimitar Company’.

Henceforth, all formal mbers joining the Scimitar Company shall receive the Scimitar Company badge, signifying identity and honor!”

Gao Yang was surprised as there was more to co.

In addition to the dals, there was even a unit badge, a significant matter for soldiers of a regular army.

The people sent by Jihad had won a honorary title for a unit of the Independent 3rd Infantry Brigade, raising a great banner and establishing a notable reputation.

From now on, they would be formidable in the Independent 3rd Infantry Brigade.

For rcenaries, money is more effective than anything, but for real soldiers, acquiring a few significant and aningful dals is quite good.

Establishing a distinctive identity for a unit, gaining an honorary title, and now with the president personally issuing it, even death would be worth it.

Bashar raised a badge to show to everyone present.

Gao Yang, sitting in the front row below the stage, could see clearly.

The Scimitar Company’s badge featured two crossed scimitars, golden and gleaming, quite attractive.

Each receiving the badge from Bashar’s hands, those soldiers who had fought hard for this small item then pinned the badges on their chests and together they raised their arms shouting: “With enemy blood, we water our honor!

We are the sharp Scimitars!”

Amid the thunderous applause, the mbers of the Scimitar Company proudly walked down.

anwhile, Glolov sitting next to Gao Yang while applauding whispered to Gao Yang: “When you go, don’t forget to get a badge for Ludwig, he’d want one, after all, it was his team.”
