1187: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Seventy: You Will Regret This 1187: Chapter One Thousand One Hundred Seventy: You Will Regret This Gao Yang was getting anxious, but he tried to calmly express his request.

After taking a deep breath to cool down, Gao Yang said in a deep voice, “Gentlen, I have a friend.

He hasn’t received any professional baseball training.

He simply loves baseball and has been playing it since he was a child.”

Gao Yang held up a finger and loudly said, “I know what you’re thinking, but hear out.

My friend is a white South African, and South Africa is a baseball desert, so he could only play by himself.

He’s a pitcher, and his pitching speed has reached over one hundred miles per hour.

Gentlen, I am here just to ask if one of you could watch his pitching and give him a chance to try out.”

Jerry Manuel looked disdainful and shouted, “A pitching speed of over one hundred miles per hour?

I’ve heard all you have to say, sir.

Now please leave.”

Gao Yang said with a look of astonishnt, “Don’t you have any interest at all?”

Jerry spoke gravely, “I’ve heard the sa nonsense countless tis.

About a genius, a miraculous talent, a promising prospect who could beco a gastar.

Sir, I’ve heard it too often, yet the reality proves that a genius is called a genius precisely because they are rare.

If your friend is truly a genius, if he can pitch over a hundred miles per hour, would he need your recomndation?

Scouts would have knocked on his door long ago.

Listen, leave my room now!”

Gao Yang took a deep breath, trying hard not to curse out loud, then yelled, “You’ll regret this, I guarantee it, damn it, you stubborn old fools!

If it weren’t for the fact that my friend is a ts fan, who has been since childhood, and wouldn’t even consider another team, do you think I’d waste my ti seeing you bunch of obstinate old n?”

Fueled by an inexplicable rage, Gao Yang’s anger grew as he spoke.

He then simply yelled, “You’ve seen too many self-proclaid talents, so you think everyone is a fake, right?

You self-proclaid experienced fools, just wait for your regret!

You don’t need to arrange any damned tryouts anymore; I don’t need them!

There are two teams in New York, the Yankees and the ts!

Compared to the Yankees, you’re nothing!”

Gao Yang was not one to lose his cool, but his anger was uncontrollable, perhaps because the gap between his expectations and reality was too vast.

With his boiling anger having nowhere to vent, Gao Yang looked at the stunned group, grinding his teeth and saying: “If it weren’t for my friend refusing to play baseball, while I hoped that his favorite team from childhood would call out to him and make him change his mind, do you think I’d bother with you idiots?

Pah, you think you’re worthy?”

“Security!

Security!

Get this madman out of here!”

The assistant coach at the door, red with anger, flung it open and shouted twice before turning to Gao Yang and yelling furiously, “Get out, or I’m calling the police!”

Gao Yang said disdainfully, “You don’t have to kick out; I can leave by myself.”

The staff mber at the door said anxiously, “Mr.

Gao, you can’t behave like this!

Please leave!”

Gao Yang slipped through the door and then lifted his hand, spreading his fingers and angrily said, “You let an opportunity slip through the cracks, you could’ve had a genius pitcher, but you wouldn’t even take a glance!

Dream on about winning the championship.”

After saying his piece, Gao Yang strode away, the door slamming shut behind him.

Gao Yang took out his phone and dialed a number.

Just a few steps later, the call was answered.

“Hello, is this Mr.

Johnny?

It’s Gao Yang.

I was wondering about what we discussed last night – when can we proceed?”

After saying a few words, a smile erged on Gao Yang’s angry face, and he promptly said, “Today?

That’s great, Mr.

Johnny.

Where?

Okay, I got it, thank you so much.

I’m really grateful.”

Gao Yang stopped walking, and at that mont, two ard security guards were quickly approaching.

The staff mber who had co with him was also saying with discomfort, “Mr.

Gao.”

Gao Yang continued moving, the staff mber waved at the security guards, and then they followed Gao Yang closely, watching as he left.

With his efforts having co to nothing, Gao Yang no longer wished to maintain any decorum.

He headed back to his car without a word and drove off.

After allowing his brain, agitated by disappointnt, to quiet down a bit, Gao Yang exhaled and picked up the phone to call Frey.

As soon as Frey answered, Gao Yang cheerfully said, “Frey, what are you up to?”

“Nothing much, just at ho.

What’s up, is there sothing?”

Gao Yang laughed and said, “Nothing really, I’m here at the New Yankee Stadium.

I’m going to visit the Baseball Museum, don’t you want to co take a look?”

Frey suspiciously said, “Why are you suddenly thinking about this?

Boss, you’re acting strange today.”

“Idiot, I want you to visit the Baseball Museum, and the New Yankee Stadium also offers tours.

You’re a Yankees fan, so whether you check out the stadium or not is up to you.

But don’t you want to at least see the museum?

Hm, I know you’d prefer to see the New York ts’ field, but Yelena and I want to see the New York Yankees.

If you’re coming, bring Yelena with you.

If not, then I’ll go back to pick her up.”

Frey, looking doubtful, said, “Why aren’t you with Yelena?

Hmm, never mind, I’ll co over and pick up Yelena on the way.

Where should we et?”

After concocting an excuse and finally deceiving Frey into coming, Gao Yang hung up the phone and let out a sigh of relief.

Gao Yang had gone to great lengths to arrange the tryout at the New Yankee Stadium, which, fortunately, is a popular tourist attraction in New York, with many other sights to see nearby; otherwise, he really wouldn’t have known how to trick Frey into coming.

If Frey knew he was being lured for a tryout, he would certainly not have co.

While waiting for Frey, Gao Yang had already made contact with a New York Yankees scout following Cecil’s guidance.

The Yankees scout was nad Roger Ruth, a very amiable middle-aged man, about fifty years old, always wearing a smile on his face.

When he t with Gao Yang at the agreed place and they shook hands, Roger’s first words with a smile were, “Mr.

Gao, why don’t we go to our training base for the tryout?

We have complete facilities there, and this place really isn’t quite suitable.”

Gao Yang, looking embarrassed, said, “I’m really sorry, Mr.

Ruth.

My friend is having a little problem, and he would definitely refuse if he knew it was a tryout.

So, I’m very sorry to tell you that you’ll need to pretend to be a stranger, but I promise, Mr.

Ruth, just one glance and you’ll feel that all the trouble is worthwhile.”

Roger Ruth laughed and said, “Alright, the people who pay my salary told to follow all your arrangents.

Whatever you say, I’ll do.”

It’s so much easier when you have the right connections, Gao Yang thought to himself, then with a joyful expression said, “That’s great, Mr.

Ruth.

Without professional equipnt, such as a radar gun or sothing, can you still judge the speed of a pitcher’s throw, or whether a pitcher is good or bad?”

Roger Ruth pointed at his eyes and smiled, “Mr.

Gao, I’ve been a scout for twenty years.”

Gao Yang nodded repeatedly and said, “That’s fantastic.

So, Mr.

Ruth, please wait for over by the field, keep a distance from , and when you see bringing a young man out to throw, that’s the person I am asking you to watch.

It shouldn’t take too long.”

After agreeing on what to do with Roger Ruth, Gao Yang waited at the designated landmark.

After more than half an hour, Frey finally arrived with his wife and Yelena.

Gao Yang took Yelena’s hand and then, with an easy-going attitude, said to Frey, “We’re going to have so fun here, and then Yelena and I will go to the opera.

Do you and Ella want to join us?”

Frey rubbed his hands together and laughed, “I won’t go.

I could stay here all day.”

Gao Yang waved his hand and said, “Co on, let’s take a look.

Hmm, first, to the stadium.”

New Yankee Stadium is open to the public for tours, but they certainly don’t allow visitors to go onto the playing field’s grass; otherwise, it would be ruined.

Outside the New Yankee Stadium, there is a small enclosed area where people can catch balls, with staff dressed in umpire’s uniforms.

It’s really a place for baseball fans to try their hand, to throw a few pitches or take a few swings, snap so pictures, and that’s where Frey’s tryout was set.

Finally, Gao Yang pointed to that small field and said to Frey, “Go throw a few.”

Frey had been eager to try.

He paid the fee, put on a glove, picked a ball from a pile in a basket, tossing it up and catching it in his hand.

Since it was ant to be fun, there had to be cooperation.

A staff mber wearing a New York Yankees uniform stood ready to hit the ball.

When the hitter, who was to play along with the tourists, swung the bat to indicate he was ready, Frey threw out the ball with a flourish.

Of course, the hitter couldn’t possibly hit the ball thrown by Frey.

Gao Yang was very nervous, extrely nervous, especially after seeing Frey’s throw being weak and feeble, he beca even more anxious.

Gao Yang subconsciously glanced at Roger Ruth, pretending to be a passerby, and then shouted to Frey, “Hey, that throw was terrible, throw a fastball, sothing powerful.”

Frey laughed heartily, turned to Ella behind him and said, “Let show you my pitch!”

With all his might, Frey threw the ball.

Seeing the speed of Frey’s throw this ti, Gao Yang finally felt relieved.

Then he glanced at Roger Ruth again, only to find him stiff-faced, standing up from his chair, mouth agape, then vigorously rubbing his eyes.

Gao Yang’s heart, which had been hanging in the air, finally settled back down in his stomach.
