Chapter 1297: Chapter One Thousand Two Hundred Eighty What’s Missing?
Morgan’s private jet is incredibly useful. Gao Yang felt both grateful and a bit awkward about using it as if it were his own, but since it was necessary, he had no choice—he had to rely on Morgan’s plane.
It’s not just that Gao Yang or the entire Satan group couldn’t afford such a private jet, the key issue here is that even if they could buy one, owning it wouldn’t an they’d be able to fly it freely around the world like Morgan’s jet. Unless, of course, they could purchase Morgan’s extensive network of connections along with the plane.
Since buying it is impossible, and even if they could, they wouldn’t have the freedom to use it like Morgan does, Gao Yang decided he might as well keep hitching rides on Morgan’s jet.
“We’ll head to Vienna first. Once we get there, we split into three groups. I’ll et Krulney with Number Thirteen, and then proceed directly to the St. Anton Ski Area. Rafael, Glolov, Rabbit, Albert—you four will take lightweight weapons and follow Yake. The rest of you will wait at St. Anton Ski Resort and act depending on the situation. Any questions?”
The eting was held under tense circumstances. Gao Yang brought Number Thirteen and Yake aboard the plane, and as soon as it took off, he gathered everyone to start assigning their tasks. Most of them didn’t know what their specific assignnts were or how to carry them out, so this eting wasn’t just about giving orders—it required thorough explanation of what to do and why.
“Boss, why are we splitting into different groups?”
Rafael was the first to voice his concerns. Gao Yang shrugged and said, “Number Thirteen and I have to et Suharitan, and Krulney obviously can’t bring a bunch of bodyguards along. So it’ll just be the two of us. You guys are carrying weapons to the resort Suharitan booked, but honestly, it’s not that crucial—just a precaution.”
Glolov spoke in a low voice, “We have to traverse the entire ski area to reach Suharitan’s resort. That’s not going to be easy.”
Gao Yang rubbed his chin and replied helplessly, “Play it by ear. If it’s really impossible to reach the designated location, or if getting close without exposing ourselves isn’t achievable, then abort. The primary goal of eting Suharitan is to collect the money, not to take him out.”
Number Thirteen, lounging in a chair, suddenly said, “Unnecessary. I think sending a lot of people is completely unnecessary. More people just increase the risk of exposure without adding any real benefit.”
Gao Yang nodded, speaking gravely, “You’re absolutely right. But… I don’t trust Krulney. Sothing about him makes uneasy, so I feel better leaving a few people outside for support. This is more about my own gut feelings.”
Rafael frowned and said, “But we don’t have any gear for high-altitude and cold-weather combat. We’re totally unprepared. Guns are fine, but apart from firearms, we’re lacking everything else. What should we do?”
Gao Yang shrugged, “This operation’s under your command. You’re the mountain warfare expert, so don’t ask that question. You should be the one raising issues and finding solutions for them.”
Rafael stared at Gao Yang in exasperation, “Boss, you’re shaless! Fine, let think. Hmm, first, we need sufficient cold-weather gear. We should have prepared for this earlier, but we didn’t. So our only option is to purchase so civilian skiing gear on short notice. Weapons should be as lightweight as possible, which ans Rabbit’s heavy sniper rifle is out, and Big Dog’s general-purpose machine gun is also off the table.”
Cui Bo raised his hand and said, “No problem for ! Just climbing mountains, right? I’m good to go.”
Rafael waved helplessly, “Can you ski?”
“No.”
“Do you know how to move through snow that’s knee-deep?”
“If just walking isn’t an option, then no, I wouldn’t know how.”
“Alright, then you can’t bring your Barrett. Trust ; you’ll do better with a light and compact sniper rifle.”
Cui Bo sighed reluctantly, “Fine, I’ll switch guns.”
Glolov spoke in a steady tone, “I’ve got no issues. I know how to move in deep snow and how to stay hidden in freezing conditions. I just don’t know much about fighting in mountainous terrain.”
Rafael turned to Albert, who raised his hand with a bitter smile, “Don’t look at , buddy. My combat experience is limited to deserts and arid environnts—and, well, those are hot. I haven’t even had a snowball fight before.”
Rafael let out a long sigh and said, “Alright, we’ll buy a full set of skiing clothes. Our equipnt will be as lightweight as possible. We’ll carry only a base amount of ammo and skip the pistols and grenades. Basically, apart from primary weapons and ammo, leave everything else behind.”
Cui Bo frowned and said, “I’ll feel unsafe without a pistol. Really, we can’t bring even one pistol magazine?”
Rafael smiled, “Unless you’re planning on ditching the pistol, I’d advise against bringing it.”
Cui Bo sighed and said, “Fine, no pistols. Geez, you make it sound terrifying. Isn’t it just so altitude? Co on, mountain warfare, mountain warfare! I hate mountain warfare. I feel like I can fight any kind of battle except in the mountains. If I master mountain warfare too—F**k—wouldn’t I be one of the rare all-rounders in the world?”
Everyone burst into laughter. Taylor smiled and said, “As if. Amphibious assault—can you handle that?”
Cui Bo wiped his nose dismissively, “Not just amphibious assaults, we’ve done boarding operations too. Brother, we spent months on the sea. Kid, you’re new here, you don’t get it.”
Albert protested, “Desert operations—can you handle those too?”
The group laughed again. Li Jinfang chuckled and said, “Somalia.”
“Libya.”
“Syria.”
After three places were called out in succession, Albert gave up, saying, “Fine, fine. I’ll admit you can all handle desert operations. Damn it—I thought my desert combat skills were one of a kind.”
Yake slowly chid in, “I’ve always believed jungle warfare is the toughest. If you’re good at desert combat, you can’t possibly be experienced in jungle warfare, can you? Am I right?”
Everyone burst into laughter again. Andy He raised two fingers and grinned, “You know about that Bogotá incident? The one that made it onto live TV? That was us. And rember last year’s showdown in Brazil between the Green Terror and the Comrcial Alliance? That was us again! Oh, and Satan has two jungle warfare specialists—one’s an expert in the Amazon jungle, the other in African jungles. They’re just not with us at the mont.”
Yake shrugged helplessly, “Alright, forget I said anything. Go on showing off, you guys.”
Taylor muttered wistfully, “Airborne operations… Never mind, pretend you didn’t hear that.”
Gao Yang didn’t continue the eting. He supported his chin with his hand, deep in thought, and said, “Guys, now that I think about it—what types of battles haven’t we fought yet?” (To be continued.
