Chapter 1302: Chapter One Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-Five: Code Number Five, Fallen.

Gao Yang was hit by five bullets.

Two hit his stomach, one hit the outer side of his right chest, one grazed the back of his head, but that one didn’t do much harm—just scraped off a bit of hair and broke a little skin. Another bullet grazed his neck, leaving a scorch mark, not even drawing blood.

Gao Yang lay on the ground, panting heavily. Karima, who had been kicked down by him, crawled back up, dragged herself over to Gao Yang’s side, and anxiously said, “Are you okay? Oh, God…”

Seeing blood gushing from Gao Yang’s chest and stomach, Karima first let out a startled scream, then sat beside him, gently cradling his head onto her lap.

Krulney grabbed a handgun and aid it at the door, shouting urgently, “We have to stop anyone from coming in! Oh, F**k! This is bad!”

Krulney stared at Gao Yang’s wounds in a daze, placed his hands on his head, and muttered dejectedly, “It’s over… it’s truly over…”

“Hold your gun and guard the door, you idiot!”

Number Thirteen shouted, clutching his stomach with one hand and holding a gun with the other. Stumbling to Gao Yang’s side, he looked at him and muttered blankly, “Sh*t! This situation is a disaster.”

Gao Yang coughed lightly and gave a bitter smile, “Hey, buddy, she’s your sister. Hey, Haifa, he’s your brother.”

He initially wanted to call her Karima but instinctively called her Haifa instead. Gao Yang had never told Number Thirteen how he t Karima, so Number Thirteen didn’t know his sister had once learned the Groin Kick from Gao Yang for three days.

Karima and Number Thirteen exchanged a surprised glance, both a bit stunned. Gao Yang struggled to catch his breath and spoke softly, “Haifa… no, Karima, could you take off your mask?”

Karima reached up and removed her headgear, revealing an incredibly beautiful face to Gao Yang. However, because Karima was hanging her head low, her face appeared upside down to him.

Gao Yang waved his gun with his left hand and said, “He’s your brother—won’t you say hello?”

Karima looked up, puzzled, glanced briefly, and then lowered her head again. Tears welled in her eyes as she said in a low voice, “Sorry, I saw you, I wanted to warn you, but I didn’t dare co out at first.”

Could Karima recognize Number Thirteen? Obviously not, so her attention stayed entirely on Gao Yang.

Number Thirteen, standing just a bit over 1.7 ters tall, was slightly shorter than Karima, who reached nearly 1.8 ters. For fraternal twins, this disparity was unusual but resulted from their drastically different childhood experiences, which had significantly altered their physiques and appearances.

Number Thirteen stared blankly at Karima, then finally lowered his head and muttered to Gao Yang, “You’ve been shot.”

Gao Yang sighed, his face filled with helplessness as he retorted, “Did that need reminding? My stomach feels like it’s about to burst in pain. Listen, I’m about to die. It’s up to you now—find a way to signal Rabbit and the others.”

At that mont, a voice called out loudly from outside the door, “Your Highness, we heard gunshots. Are you alright?”

Monts afterward, the door suddenly swung open. Krulney imdiately fired his weapon while Number Thirteen swiftly turned and opened fire repeatedly. Two n fell at the doorway, but at the sa ti, soone scread in panic in Arabic, “The Prince is dead! The Prince is dead!”

The room’s soundproofing was excellent, but the gunshots eventually alerted Suharitan’s guards that sothing was wrong.

Two more n tried to rush inside, and this ti, they carried submachine guns. As Number Thirteen and Krulney began shooting in defense, the attackers suddenly collapsed forward onto the ground, their backs riddled with bullet holes.

Outside, there was a series of heavy thuds, followed by soone shouting loudly, “Behind us! Soone’s firing from behind! Find cover!”

Gao Yang felt like crying; with a shaky voice, he said, “Damn Rabbit, you never let down.”

Rafael and his team were in position. Once they detected abnormalities, they had imdiately begun firing.

Thanks to Cui Bo’s precise fire support, Gao Yang and the group faced significantly less pressure in defending. Holding the door with re handguns was challenging, but Cui Bo’s suppressive fire made it far more manageable.

Number Thirteen glanced at Gao Yang, saying, “You need imdiate dical attention, or you’ll die.”

Gao Yang forced a bitter smile, “Don’t keep reminding I’m about to die. By the ti they’re here, I’ll already be gone. My stomach hurts so much—I feel like I’m dying.”

Number Thirteen spoke gravely, “No. You won’t die. Drag him to safety and take him to that corner!”

The last sentence was addressed to Karima, who finally reacted sowhat. Hesitantly, she said, “You’re Offred?”

Number Thirteen froze for a mont before replying, “You’re saying my na?”

“Yes.”

“I don’t rember. Just help drag him over there first.”

Together, Number Thirteen and Karima dragged Gao Yang to a dead corner in the room—though Karima did most of the work since Number Thirteen could barely walk.

Once Gao Yang was settled, Number Thirteen grabbed Karima’s hand and placed it on Gao Yang’s stomach wound, urging, “Press on his injuries.”

Karima shouted in panic, “But he has three wounds bleeding!”

“Figure it out yourself.”

Karima hesitated briefly before placing both hands over Gao Yang’s stomach wounds, then lying down beside him and pressing her face against the injury on his chest.

Pressing to stop the blood flow—the effectiveness didn’t matter. Doing sothing was better than nothing.

Number Thirteen scanned the room and then yelled, “Keep the door secure! Don’t let anyone in! I need a phone—I must get in contact with them ASAP!”

Karima shouted, “There won’t be any phones here! Suharitan hates interruptions!”

Krulney nervously asked, “Who’s helping us outside? Did you post ambushers?”

Number Thirteen coldly retorted, “Shut up and keep an eye on your door!”

Having said that, Number Thirteen lifted the carpet from the floor, then looked around and strode toward the large floor-to-ceiling window. He yanked on the rolled-up curtain several tis, but it wouldn’t co down.

Frustrated, he cursed bitterly, gave up on the curtain, and rushed to a bag of cash, grabbing bills to toss into the fireplace.

Krulney scread, “What are you doing?!”

Number Thirteen coolly replied, “Can you take it with you?”

“Uh… no. You want to signal with smoke? Smart move.”

Krulney’s quick thinking was proven right as Number Thirteen continued to throw bundles of cash into the fireplace. Soon, the bills’ thick smoke—a stark contrast to the clean-burning wood—began rising.

Number Thirteen then tossed in the carpet, waited for a few monts, and pulled it out again. After a few seconds, he shoved it back into the fire.

By alternating between putting in and pulling out the carpet, he created interrupted segnts of smoke rising from the chimney, forming a precise SOS signal.

After transmitting one signal, Number Thirteen waited briefly, then repeated the process twice more. Just then, a bullet pierced the wooden front door, leaving a hole, followed by two more shots that ford a triangle.

Watching the door from his weakened state, Gao Yang murmured faintly, “They’ve seen the signal; they’re coming.”

Karima whispered, “What did you say?”

“They’re coming. Tell your brother to send out five shorter smoke signals in succession—repeat, and keep repeating.”

Karima shouted, “Five equal-length signals, repeatedly!”

Then, softly, she asked, “What does that an?”

Gao Yang caught his breath, his voice low, “Ergency contact code number five. Commander deceased.”

Karima’s hands froze for a mont on Gao Yang’s stomach injury, then she cried out, “You’re not dead! You won’t die! You won’t die!”

Gao Yang gave a weak smile, “I have no choice… In extre ergencies, the contact protocol doesn’t account for a severely injured commander, only one who’s dead…” (To be continued.
