Although Gao Yang understood that he couldn’t expect a gang leader to have the right principles, and he knew he wasn’t a good person either, he still couldn’t accept robbing things, even though he’d done quite a bit of that himself.
But when Gao Yang robbed, he did it with principles. Taking from the enemy isn’t robbery; it’s seizing, it’s spoils of war. When two armies clash, the winning side has to clean up the battlefield, after all.
However, seizing from the enemy is one thing, but robbing from ordinary people is sothing Gao Yang couldn’t bring himself to do. At the end of the day, he still had principles, and he disdained doing such things.
So Gao Yang decided to stop Shava. He quickly raised his hand and said urgently, "Shava, Shava! There’s no need to rob. I can use legitimate ans to get what I want. There’s absolutely no need to rob. It’s much simpler and more fitting for to buy it with money."
Shava waved his hand and laughed, "Don’t worry, don’t worry, brother, I’ll handle this."
Interrupting Gao Yang, Shava turned to one of his n and said, "Call your little brother, find out the specifics about that wealthy guy, quickly, call him now."
Shava’s subordinate imdiately said, "Boss, no need to call, he’s right here, playing downstairs. He did a pretty good job today, so I let him play as a reward."
Shava was very pleased and said, "Very good, very good, call him up, I want to ask him."
A young man was called up, and after being brought before Shava, the already sowhat drunk young man was a bit nervous. He nodded to Shava and respectfully said, "Hello, boss."
Shava nodded, picked up a replica hunting rifle from the table, and smiled, "This gun, who did you steal it from?"
The young man imdiately replied, "Azarov, Azarov Zisberg, boss, I used to follow him."
Shava imdiately furrowed his brow and said to the person beside him, "That na, I’ve heard it before, I’m sure I’ve heard that na. What does he do?"
The young man quickly said, "Boss, it’s La Azaro, the old right bank used to be his territory, and the thieves on the right bank of the Dnieper River were all under his control."
Shava slapped his thigh and laughed, "Oh, it’s that thief boss La Azaro, no wonder the na sounded so familiar. You used to follow him?"
The young man respectfully said, "Yes, I followed him for a while, but I’m not a thief. I was a thug at the train station, following a thief nad Cisero. I went to La Azaro’s villa with Cisero once. Later, Cisero stole sothing and secretly kept a part of it, which La Azaro found out about, so La Azaro cut off Cisero’s right hand. After that, I stopped working for La Azaro and road the streets for over half a year until I joined the White Shark Gang."
Shava waved his hand and loudly said, "Then do you know where La Azaro’s house is?"
The young man nodded repeatedly and said, "I know, I know, it’s on Nevsky Prospekt. He has a mansion there. I’ve never been inside, but I know where it is. Also, Cisero once ntioned to what La Azaro’s house looked like. He said there were two hunting rifles hanging in La Azaro’s house, and there were very valuable hunting rifles. And I’ve been to his country villa, where this gun was hanging on the wall next to the fireplace."
Shava was very satisfied and nodded, saying, "Understood, go back and continue playing, but don’t drink anymore. I might need you to do sothing later. You can go now."
After sending the young man away, Shava turned to Gao Yang, smiled, and said, "La Azaro is a really tough guy. He’s very strict with his n and, of course, very fierce towards those who infringe on his interests. But, you see, he’s a thief, and we’re robbers. No matter how fierce the thieves are, they’re no match for the robbers. For people like him, we have to be tough. We, the White Shark Gang, aren’t afraid of him; he should be afraid of us, the White Shark Gang. So, brother, don’t even think about buying his gun peacefully. Leave it to ."
If it were an ordinary rich person, Gao Yang really wouldn’t consider sneaking into soone’s house to steal or rob—it was too disgraceful. But if it’s a thief boss, well, there’s nothing more to say. Gao Yang was quite delighted at the idea of robbing a thief.
Gao Yang waved his hand and laughed, "Buddy, rember, if the other party is an ordinary person, then when you help find the gun, you absolutely have to use proper ways. No matter what, there must be rules, right? But since the other party is a thief boss, well, there’s nothing to say."
Shava laughed heartily and said, "La Azaro, the place he’s mixed up in now isn’t my territory yet, but it will be sooner or later. I have to find him sooner or later. This ti I’ll take care of things all at once. Tonight, I’ll see him in person, but, alas, there’s not enough ti. We have to et my cousin first."
Glancing at his watch, Shava loudly said to the crowd in front of him, "Gather so brothers. Tonight we’re going to et La Azaro. I’ll take care of it when I return, and I don’t mind dragging La Azaro out of his sleep."
After speaking, Shava smiled at Gao Yang and said, "Brother, it’s about ti. Let’s head out to take care of so serious business first."
Gao Yang stood up and smiled, "Great, let’s get going."
As they left Shava’s nightclub, Gao Yang didn’t ride in the sa car as Shava, and Shava didn’t ostentatiously bring a large group of people either. He only had a driver who also acted as a bodyguard accompany him, driving ahead to lead the way.
Eventually, Shava’s car stopped in a very run-down residential area. It was then that Gao Yang realized Shava had brought him back to the place where they t for the first ti—the old factory.
After getting out of the car, Shava made an apologetic gesture towards Gao Yang and smiled, "Sorry, my cousin is always very cautious. Understandably, he cannot have his identity recognized, and this is the safest place."
Gao Yang followed Shava into the large factory. Shava turned on the lights and pointed to the sofa still placed in the center, smiling, "Take a seat. We shouldn’t have to wait too long."
Sitting side by side on the sofa with Shava, Gao Yang looked around and smiled, "This place is actually pretty nice."
Shava shrugged, gestured with his hand, and spoke in a deep voice, "This is where I started. We grew up here. It used to be a tractor factory. Our parents were workers. Our lives were good back then, but later, you know, when the Soviet Union collapsed, many factories shut down, and our parents lost their jobs. We learned what hardship ans from a young age, living without money, unable to receive a good education, with no prospects, no future."
Upon finishing, Shava took a deep breath and said, "Many of my brothers and I started hustling on the streets from our teens until I decided to lead them to carve out a future, our own future. Not to be soone else’s henchn, but to fight our way to our own world, and that was when the White Shark Gang was ford, right here in this room."
Gao Yang looked around and smiled, "So, this place holds a lot of significance for you."
Shava’s expression turned a bit somber. He nodded and said, "Yes, back then, thirty-six of us gathered in this room to establish the White Shark Gang. When we decided to move out not long ago, only sixteen were left."
Losing twenty ans twenty had died.
Shava’s voice trembled slightly. He pointed with his finger to a spot and said, "Right in that spot, my best brother, my neighbor, the playmate I grew up with, died. We are not an old established gang; we are just a group of workers’ children. To hold our ground, to make a na in Kiev, we had to be tougher than others, we had to dare to kill! We had to dare to fight!"
Gao Yang patted Shava on the shoulder, then said in a deep voice, "Achieving success isn’t easy, starting with nothing is even harder."
Shava nodded and suddenly said to Gao Yang, "Ram, you don’t look much older than , but you seem different. You look different right away. You’re soone with a story. I guess you climbed out from a heap of dead bodies. I can see it."
Gao Yang sighed deeply and said, "That’s right, I’ve indeed been through many life-and-death monts."
Shava spread his hands and spoke deeply, "You’re a rcenary, so you’ve probably killed many people, right? Probably a lot, I guess. Maybe you’ve killed hundreds? That aura around you couldn’t possibly exist without having killed a lot of people."
Gao Yang smiled, touched his mouth, and shrugged, "I never counted how many people I’ve killed. It’s not sothing to boast about."
Gao Yang could sowhat understand Glolov’s feelings then. When Uriyangko talked about Glolov’s history, Glolov had said the sa thing. Now, Gao Yang didn’t want to bring it up or have others ntion how many souls he had sent to the afterlife; it made him uncomfortable.
Shava didn’t press further. He spoke in a low voice, "My cousin also stepped out from here, but he joined the military very early and did quite well. I owe everything I have today to his help. At the beginning, we didn’t even have guns, couldn’t afford them. We couldn’t compete for territory with anyone. Later, with my cousin’s help, I procured arms. From then on, our situation improved."
Gao Yang knew Shava had other intentions in ntioning these things, so he just listened without interrupting. Sure enough, Shava said earnestly, "Ram, I respect you, but please promise , no matter how your talk with my cousin goes, don’t threaten him, and definitely don’t hurt him. Otherwise, I’d rather die than let you. I hope you understand this. Can you?"
Gao Yang nodded and said, "Of course, I understand. Shava, I plan to do business with your cousin, and I adhere to the rules when doing business." (To be continued.
