Gao Yang missed Yelena very much, so he wanted to get everything done before she arrived.

When there’s no need to fight, Gao Yang liked to have Yake and Number Thirteen with him, because he found that although they were not good at fighting, they excelled at everything else.

The three of them first found Gary Thompson’s house in Yorkshire, located his family, and easily obtained Gary Thompson’s address, which was that farmhouse.

Then Gao Yang and the others found Gary Thompson’s farmhouse.

It was a typical British farmhouse, not very large, but very neatly organized and attractive, because the fields were not planted with crops but with evergreen shrubs, neatly trimd, showing that the owner had no worries and no pressure, allowing him to transform his farmhouse into a suitable retirent residence.

When knocking on the door, Gao Yang was wondering what excuse Yake would use. He no longer bothered to make excuses himself; the task of fooling people was left to Yake and Number Thirteen. They were masters at storytelling, so Gao Yang was curious about what excuse Yake would use, rather than being busy crafting lies himself.

When Yake knocked on the door and an old man with white hair smilingly opened it, Gao Yang felt that today’s matter might not go smoothly.

The old man was still smiling when he opened the door, but upon seeing the three of them, his smile quickly disappeared, replaced by alertness. He glanced at them swiftly and then lowered his voice, saying, "Who are you, and what do you want from ?"

Yake tilted his head slightly, then calmly said, "Don’t overthink, we just want to ask so questions about the shotgun, nothing else."

This conversation is unusual. Gao Yang felt a bit puzzled and worried, fearing Yake was too blunt and might spoil things, but after a little thought, Gao Yang wanted to slap himself.

The military officer at an embassy, what is that? It’s an open spy, a public intelligence officer. Treating soone like that as an ordinary old man is foolish, truly thinking everyone is stupid.

No need to treat Gary Thompson as an ordinary old man and fool him, just speak truthfully. There’s no need to bluff such people, and you can’t deceive them even if you try; just use intimidation and inducent.

Gary Thompson didn’t show any intention to invite them in, just keeping the door half-open, gazing at each of them in turn, then sternly saying, "Who are you really?"

Yake spread his hands, calmly saying, "Foreigners, not ordinary people, but we really only want to find a gun."

Gary Thompson kept his composure, saying, "Who do you work for?"

"Ourselves."

Yake replied very casually, and after Gary Thompson nodded, he said in a very casual manner, "You work for yourself, so coming to isn’t official business?"

Yake smiled and said, "Of course not, we’re just here to make so money, but we need to get so information from you."

Gary Thompson nodded, his face regaining a smile, then casually saying, "Are you treasure hunters? Or intelligence traders?"

Yake shrugged, saying, "Well, actually, we’re rcenaries, but the current task is to find a gun, so I guess we’re treasure hunters."

Gary Thompson waved his hand, smiling, "So you’re bounty hunters. Regardless of the bounty, you’re here to earn a reward. So, if what you’re looking for is with , what will you do then?"

Yake shrugged, saying, "Pay up. As long as you’re willing to na a price, our employer doesn’t care about money. As long as it’s not too outrageous, we definitely won’t switch professions."

Gary Thompson nodded contentedly, slightly moving back, and fully opened the door before gesturing, "Please co in."

They were invited into a very ordinary farmhouse living room, and after sitting down, Gary Thompson smiled and said, "What would you like to drink? Coffee or tea?"

Yake smiled, "Red tea."

Number Thirteen also calmly replied, "Red tea."

Although Gao Yang was a Huaxia person, he didn’t appreciate tea and disliked British red tea, so he honestly said, "I’ll have coffee, thank you."

Gary Thompson nodded, "Alright, please wait for a mont."

Gary Thompson left, and Gao Yang looked at Yake beside him, puzzled and asked, "What’s happening now? What does this an?"

Yake shrugged, "Clearly, we’re about to start talking business."

Gao Yang exclaid in surprise, "A business negotiation?"

Yake nodded and said, "That’s right, a business negotiation. Gary brought us in as business partners, so there’s no need to hide anything. Say what needs to be said, ask what needs to be asked. If the price of what he’s selling is right, we’ll buy it. Obviously, Gary is a serious businessman."

Gao Yang frowned and said, "I’m confused, really confused."

Yake sighed, helplessly said, "You’ll understand soon enough. You’re not in this line of work, you don’t get it, but once you see things, you’ll know. Gary retired but hasn’t been idle."

Number Thirteen said calmly, "Let explain it simply. What’s the duty of a Military Officer in an embassy?"

Gao Yang smiled wryly and said, "I hadn’t thought of it just now, but now it dawned on . He’s an intelligence officer in the open."

Number Thirteen nodded and then said, "Exactly. You need to realize he’s not just a regular guy. Being dispatched to Ukraine right after the Soviet Union’s disintegration shows he’s sothing extraordinary. He ntioned two terms earlier: Treasure Hunter and Intelligence Broker. Then he said we’re Bounty Hunters. Using these terms and considering his previous work, there’s only one explanation: he’s a middleman."

Gao Yang knew what a middleman was. A middleman is just as the na suggests, essential in any trade or industry, whether it’s rcenaries looking for tasks or employers seeking rcenaries to solve issues. At this point, a middleman assists the employer in finding suitable rcenaries or helps rcenaries find appropriate tasks.

It’s just unclear which field Gary Thompson specializes in. Nonetheless, a middleman, regardless of the field, needs to be widely connected and well-inford. Clearly, Gary Thompson possesses these traits.

Soon, Gary Thompson ca in with a tray and set down drinks for the three of them. With a smile, Gary took a look at each and gestured invitingly to Gao Yang, then smilingly said, "You must be the boss. If I’m not mistaken, you can tell what gun you’re looking for."

Quite perceptive. But Gao Yang wasn’t surprised at all. A Military Officer sent to a crucial position at a pivotal mont must be an insightful, adept, and decisive character.

Without hesitation, Gao Yang pulled a photo from his pocket and placed it on the coffee table, sliding it toward Gary Thompson, and said firmly, "I’m looking for this gun, whether physically or in information. If it’s in your possession, that would be ideal."

Gary took the photo, studied it for a mont, then exhaled and casually put it down, smiling happily, "It’s not with ."

After speaking, Gary bead and said, "You’re after more than just a bounty, you’re after sothing deadly. Don’t deny it—I can tell by looking that you’re all hardened individuals who’ve killed extensively. If that gun were with and I refused to sell or asked too high a price, you’d undoubtedly kill and take it without hesitation."

Gao Yang sternly said, "We wouldn’t do that. We abide by principles."

Gary waved his hand, laughing, "Don’t bother with aningless words; we all know a rcenary can easily beco a robber. Let’s talk about that gun. I recognize it; it’s Princess Sissi’s gun. It’s not hard to recognize if you’re an enthusiast of antique guns, which I am, even though few know this."

Gary spoke bluntly, appearing relaxed. Gao Yang didn’t know where his confidence ca from, but considering what Gary had done in Kiev, he reckoned Gary must have substantial confidence.

Gary clapped his hands and smiled, "If that gun were with , I wouldn’t want to sell it, or I’d ask for a very high price. That would be troubleso because I wouldn’t know your price limit. But now I don’t have to take those risks, I just have to tell you what I know, which is beneficial for us both."

Gao Yang’s heart began to race slightly, and he said softly, "You know where the gun is?"

Gary nodded and said loudly, "Yes, I know."

Gao Yang didn’t expect things to be so smooth and simple. Such ease made his first reaction to imdiately raise his guard, yet he was also extrely pleased. The reason was simple: because Gary should know where the gun is; the caution was just a reflex from the overly smooth progress.

"Where is that gun!"

Gao Yang’s voice was calm, not allowing himself to appear overly excited.

Gary shrugged and said, "Young man, I haven’t nad my price yet; getting excited before negotiating isn’t good."

Gao Yang felt his concealnt wasn’t quite successful. Yet, it might be that Gary Thompson’s insight was too sharp, uncovering attempts at hiding.

Gao Yang exhaled and said deeply, "Alright, na your price."

Gary himself drank black tea. He picked up his cup and smiled, "I never make money off my collections, but if there’s an opportunity, I’m okay with selling my collections because I have so many. I never thought I’d one day profit from an information tidbit regarding my hobby, but that makes happy because I particularly enjoy doing intelligence business, even though it’s not my main occupation, and this information isn’t that valuable."

Gao Yang just wanted to grab Gary’s throat to make him say less nonsense.

Finally, Gary sipped his tea and put down his cup, looking at Gao Yang with a smile, "Ten thousand British Pounds, and I’ll tell you." (To be continued.
