Gao Yang wanted to be the sparrow behind the mantis, not the mantis, and certainly not the cicada, so it was worth considering how to et with Polovich while ensuring his own safety.
After Gao Yang briefly introduced the situation, Pavlovich unhesitatingly said, "Since you suspect that person nad Polovich has defected, why not just take him out?"
Gao Yang looked at Pavlovich and said seriously, "I only suspect him, I haven’t confird that he has defected to the enemy."
Pavlovich also spoke seriously, "Suspecting is enough. In this situation, are you still planning to prove his innocence? Even if innocence needs to be proven, it’s Polovich’s business, not yours."
Gao Yang smiled wryly, "Alright, I don’t particularly care if Polovich has defected or not. Right now, we can’t find any of Djo’s people to hit, so I want to use Polovich as bait to break the current deadlock. Whether he has defected or not, as long as he’s in Kiev, he can be of help to us."
Pavlovich pondered for a mont, then earnestly said, "Your approach is very effective but also very dangerous. Using a person as bait isn’t a simple matter. The bait might end up being you. Are you sure your people can execute this plan?"
Gao Yang nodded and said in a deep voice, "Yes, I trust my people."
Pavlovich nodded back and said loudly, "Very well, I trust my people too. Let’s do it this way then. As long as you won’t be a burden, the situation will have new developnts soon."
Gao Yang looked at his watch and said in a deep voice, "I want everything in place by 2 PM. This requires disguises and traveling light. Do you have any ideas?"
Pavlovich said bluntly, "We’re not the kind of people who can’t operate without bulletproof vests. In fact, we’re more accustod to fighting lightly ard and unprotected. So this question should only be addressed to your people."
Gao Yang wasn’t interested in verbal sparring with Pavlovich. This proud old man habitually doubted the combat capabilities of anyone outside the Black Demon, so he simply said mildly, "I’m sure you’re aware of my team’s capabilities, so let’s settle it this way. Go back and get prepared, we’ll head out in half an hour."
Half an hour later, Satan and the Black Demon set off separately, heading towards Grushevsky Street where Polovich was located.
Most mbers of Satan were known to Polovich, so having Satan approach Polovich secretly wasn’t a good idea. Therefore, Gao Yang split the team into two groups. Those in Satan who hadn’t t Polovich before went with the Black Demon in secret, while the others stayed further away, ensuring they wouldn’t cross paths with Polovich. Gao Yang wouldn’t reveal their location either, creating a half-hidden ambush.
Upon reaching Grushevsky Street, Gao Yang called Polovich and said nonchalantly, "Brother, I’ve returned early, where are you? Let’s et now."
Polovich didn’t ask anything, seemingly unfazed by Gao Yang’s sudden arrival, despite Gao Yang’s actions clearly indicating distrust.
"Alright, I’m at the Katyn Hotel. Are you coming, or should I go over?"
Gao Yang saw the sign for the Katyn Hotel, then said in a deep voice, "I don’t know where the Katyn Hotel is, I need to find it. Hmm, I’ll be waiting at a place called Polybin Cafe, do you know it?"
Polovich imdiately said, "I know it, I’ll co to you."
Gao Yang hung up the phone and said in a deep voice to Li Jinfang and Eileen beside him, "Head to that Polybin Cafe we just passed."
No excuses could conceal Gao Yang’s lack of trust in Polovich. Since that was the case, Gao Yang decided not to make any excuses. He wouldn’t go to the hotel to find Polovich so as not to fall into an ambush, and Polovich evidently understood this.
When Gao Yang sat down in the café, Pavlovich and his team were already ambushed nearby, as for Pavlovich himself, he simply brought three people to sit directly in the café, not far from Gao Yang.
Polovich arrived ten minutes later, and when Gao Yang saw him, he almost couldn’t recognize him.
Polovich had lost a significant amount of weight, yet seed much more relaxed than during their last eting.
Polovich ca alone, without any attendants, and sat directly opposite Gao Yang, setting his hands on the table and smiling, "Long ti no see."
Gao Yang smiled back, "Yeah, long ti no see."
After this exchange, both seed unsure of how to continue the conversation. After a mont, Polovich sighed deeply and said, full of helplessness, "Trust is sothing you can’t get back once it’s lost. If it’s not a life-threatening situation, we can still sit down and pretend like before, but if it’s a crucial mont, there’s no way. We can only be cautious and wary, just like we are now."
Gao Yang also responded with a helpless expression, "Yeah, we’re not in the sa line of work, but the jobs we do are life-threatening, as long as we understand each other, it’s fine."
Polovich looked at Gao Yang intently, speaking solemnly, "I haven’t betrayed Grand Ivan, though given my current situation, betraying him would seem normal, but I haven’t. Whether you believe or not, I had to tell you."
Gao Yang laughed slightly, filled Polovich’s cup with the coffee pot, and said with a smile, "This doesn’t really concern , does it?"
Polovich nudged the coffee cup closer to himself and quietly said, "It concerns you. If you hadn’t co to see , I wouldn’t be certain, but now I am. You’re helping Grand Ivan. I know you, I know your character. If Andre were still alive, it would be fine. But since Andre died, you’d definitely help Grand Ivan stabilize the situation in Ukraine."
Gao Yang spread his hands and said with a wry smile, "I want to help, but I don’t know how to."
Polovich was silent for a mont, took a few sips of coffee, and nodded, "That’s true. With Andre gone, his forces are leaderless, and there’s no way he would have left his forces in your hands. So right now, you can’t access the power Andre left behind."
Gao Yang smiled and then sighed, "From my standpoint, I want to do sothing for Grand Ivan, but I can’t get in touch with him. So I’m here not knowing what to do, Polovich, I’d like to know what you’re here for."
Polovich gave a resigned smile, "I ca here just to make myself a target, to show Djo that Grand Ivan’s people in Ukraine aren’t all gone, and to tell Grand Ivan that I wronged him last ti, and this ti I’m here to make ands for my past mistakes, even at the cost of my life."
