Chapter 1592: Chapter 1571: The Crooked Path
May 21, 2014, Kiev.
The big battle had just ended, and while there were still a bunch of people who couldn’t get off their hospital beds, Gao Yang rushed back to Kyiv.
He had a lot of loose ends to tie up, couldn’t avoid coming, and there was another important task: getting his hands on Morgan’s gun as quickly as possible.
But to find a way to pocket sothing that belongs to soone else, Gao Yang couldn’t think of any alternative other than buying or stealing.
To buy, no matter how expensive the price, it wasn’t a problem. But that wasn’t even an option; the gun owner was richer than Gao Yang, even wealthier than Morgan.
To steal—the owner was the future president of Ukraine. Gao Yang couldn’t do it even if he had all the courage in the world.
Gao Yang wasn’t planning to buy it. If making an offer would expose the target, which was impossible anyway, he might as well act directly so that even if Poloneshenko lost the gun, he wouldn’t know who took it.
Stealing outright was impossible; even if Gao Yang had the guts, it was just him and Taylor. The success rate was unimaginably low. This wasn’t so street mugging; it required breaking into a heavily guarded house to steal sothing. Since stealing outright wasn’t an option, other ans like skulduggery and cunning seed equally unlikely.
Now, around Gao Yang, only Taylor remained unscathed enough to help him. Albert wasn’t hurt but had to stay to care for the injured. Besides that, Gao Yang couldn’t find anyone else to act with him.
Taylor was good in a fight, and so was Gao Yang, but when it ca to lying, cheating, stealing, neither of them had any idea. Ultimately, Gao Yang thought stealing seed the only feasible option among all those tactics.
So, Gao Yang decided to dabble as a thief. He initially planned to co to Kyiv with only Taylor, but realistically, they couldn’t pull it off alone, so reluctantly, he brought Number Thirteen, even though his leg was hurt.
“Before I t you, I hadn’t been injured for a long, long ti. But since I t you, how many tis have I been hurt? And all serious injuries!”
With Taylor driving, Gao Yang sat in the passenger seat, and Number Thirteen in the back suddenly began to complain, reminiscing about sothing. After his complaints, he sighed, “I gave up being a good assassin to mix with you rcenaries. It’s truly a disgrace to the assassin profession.”
Gao Yang replied without turning his head, “You were an assassin before. If you’re exposed, you’re dood. Now you’re a rcenary, facing danger head-on, getting injured is inevitable. Sigh, getting hit by a directional mine set by yourself, I won’t even ntion it.”
Number Thirteen snapped back, “If I had been just a bit late, it would have been too late to pull it! And you have the nerve to talk!”
Gao Yang shrugged, “You’re not one to complain. Get to the point.”
Number Thirteen cleared his throat, saying softly, “You found my sister, so I should help you. Getting hurt is no big deal. Well, what I ant to say is I’m injured now. Just the two of you trying to get the gun isn’t realistic.”
Gao Yang turned his head to look at Number Thirteen, surprised, “What’s gotten into you today? This isn’t like you. What do you want to say?”
Number Thirteen spoke seriously, “We need help.”
Gao Yang nodded, speaking deeply, “Right, if we can’t handle it ourselves, find help. Do you have any good suggestions? Hey, Leonard, can you contact your old, uh, colleagues like Lion and dusa? Can you reach them?”
Number Thirteen shook his head, speaking deeply, “Can’t reach them, but I have a better candidate.”
“Who?”
“My sister!”
“Your sister?”
“Yes.”
“Haha, the weather is nice today.”
Gao Yang turned with a laugh, clearly dismissive, which angered Number Thirteen, “I’m not joking. My sister is the most suitable candidate. I’ve taught her a lot of things. Now that I’m out, she’s the only one who can replace !”
Gao Yang sighed, looking at Number Thirteen with a helpless expression, “Co on! How many days did you actually spend with your sister? What could you have taught her? Did you leave her a textbook on how to beco an assassin quickly, and let her read it for a few days as training? Are you kidding ? Enough, stop joking around.”
Number Thirteen looked exasperated, “I taught her disguise, Gao. You need to bring her here.”
Gao Yang replied helplessly, “Alright, enough said. If we can’t do it ourselves, then we won’t do it. I’ll relay the ssage to Morgan and let him handle it. Anyway, Karima doesn’t need to co here.”
Number Thirteen was creating opportunities for his sister. While nobody spoke about it, everyone was aware that Karima liked Gao Yang. Though never explicitly stated, anyone with eyes could see it. And Number Thirteen, as an older brother, despite having rarely t his sister growing up, instinctively took a fatherly role, trying hard to create an opportunity for his sister and Gao Yang to spend ti together.
Number Thirteen didn’t even care about how dangerous Kiev was or the increased danger Karima would face in stealing the gun. He no longer saw things as ordinary people did. In his eyes, killing was just routine work, and stealing sothing was insignificant.
Despite Number Thirteen’s unconventional thinking, Gao Yang was vastly normal, so it was impossible for him to agree to Number Thirteen’s request.
“What’s wrong with my sister? You really should reconsider. With Big Dog injured and not here, what are you worried about? Besides, you have a legitimate reason…”

Number Thirteen sighed, speaking with resignation, “Poloneshenko has a villa on the outskirts of Kyiv, covering 120 hectares including the grounds. I managed to sneak in but found no gun. His residence in Kyiv City takes up an entire building, and I hadn’t had ti to scout it before I ended up like this. That ans the gun could be in one of three places: the villa, the mansion, or here when Poloneshenko moves in.
