Gao Yang and Yelena left, wearing sunglasses, covering their faces, sneaking out of the police station through the back door with the escort of two undercover officers.

Before the police drove Gao Yang away, they specifically drove around to the front of the police station to let Gao Yang see the cars parked outside and the journalists blocking the door, estimating there were about two hundred. Then the police told Gao Yang that there were more journalists guarding the police station than those reporting at the scene of the attack.

Gao Yang certainly couldn’t let the police take him ho, so he had them take him and Yelena to the hotel.

After returning to the hotel, the first thing was, of course, to hurriedly make calls to whoever needed to be called. After Gao Yang painfully finished making the necessary calls, Yelena finally let out a long breath and whispered, "What a long day."

Exhausted both physically and ntally, Gao Yang hugged Yelena and whispered, "From now on, no matter what happens, don’t stand in front of !"

Yelena pulled over Gao Yang’s arm that was wrapped around her waist and whispered, "Are you angry?"

Gao Yang whispered, "I’m not angry, just moved. But you should trust , no matter what happens, I have the ability to protect you. Following ans danger; so things you have to face, but rember, if we must die, it has to be first and you second."

Yelena nodded gently and whispered, "I don’t know if I can do it, but I’ll rember your words and try my best."

Gao Yang didn’t say anything more; after all, it was a subconscious action that couldn’t simply be changed.

Gao Yang and Yelena sat on the sofa, embracing each other for a long ti without moving. They both needed to calm down. After a long ti, with one hand around Gao Yang and her back leaning against his chest, Yelena suddenly said, "Oh, your watch is broken?"

Gao Yang raised his head slightly and whispered, "What’s going on."

Holding Gao Yang’s left hand, Yelena got up and whispered, "The glass on your watch is shattered; didn’t you notice?"

After Yelena left, Gao Yang raised his newly freed left hand and looked at the gold watch on his left wrist, finding the dial glass indeed had cobweb-like cracks.

"What happened? Let think. I used my left hand to cut that guy’s wrist to grab the gun, and it seems I did hit so hard object. Damn it."

Looking at his watch, Gao Yang couldn’t help but feel more hatred toward those four terrorists during his regret.

The watch is worth a lot, but that’s not the point. The point is that it was given to him by Frey, and Gao Yang received it not long after entering the rcenary industry when he was still an unknown figure. He got it after narrowly escaping death, and Frey took it from Gaddafi’s palace. At that ti, Frey was still not free from poverty and was willing to give him a watch worth a lot of money, so the watch’s monetary value was secondary; it carried an emotional attachnt.

Now Gao Yang can freely buy any luxury watch he fancies or change to a different expensive watch every day because he had just emptied Poloneshenko’s watch cabinet. But Gao Yang never thought of buying or changing his watch.

He wears the military watch Catherine gave him when dressed in combat or casual attire and the gold watch Frey gave him when dressed formally. It has beco a habit for Gao Yang, and now that the watch Frey gave him is broken, how could Gao Yang not feel heartache?

Seeing Gao Yang’s expression of distress, Yelena also said with pity, "The hands are still moving, and the ti is correct; it’s probably just

the dial broken, right? I think it can still be repaired."

Gao Yang shook his wrist and whispered, "Let’s get it fixed tomorrow. Alright, we should rest."

Yelena smiled and said, "You should talk less. I really don’t want your voice to stay like this forever; it’s very unpleasant."

Although there were many important things to do, Gao Yang was always thinking about his watch. So, as soon as he got up the next morning, Gao Yang impatiently took Yelena to repair his watch.

Gao Yang’s watch is a Vacheron Constantin, so naturally, he went to a specialist shop for repairs. In a big city like New York, such places are certainly not lacking.

Finding the nearest Vacheron Constantin boutique, once Gao Yang and Yelena walked in, Yelena imdiately found a staff mber and said, "We need a watch repaired."

Gao Yang was not in a position to speak, so Yelena took charge of the trivial task of watch repair.

Gao Yang was soon invited to the watch repair area. After Gao Yang removed the watch from his wrist and handed it to a technician responsible for repair, the technician imdiately said, "This is from the Heritage series, the surface is seriously damaged and definitely needs replacent."

Gao Yang nodded while Yelena said, "Please repair it as quickly as possible; it’s very important to us. Thank you."

The technician nodded and said, "Alright, I will repair it as soon as possible, but the damage is quite severe. I fear the internal components might be affected, so I need to open it up for a full-scale inspection. Once I assess the damage and provide you with the final repair plan, we’ll know how long it’ll take. This process might take quite a while. You can wait here or wait for our staff to call to notify you."

Yelena imdiately said, "We’ll wait."

The technician quickly opened the watch case and then stood up, saying to Gao Yang and Yelena waiting in the rest area behind the workbench, "This watch has been opened before, and there’s sothing inside not belonging to the watch here. Uh, there’s a series of numbers engraved here as well. Apologies, I’ve never encountered this before; did you intentionally put it in?"

Yelena was very surprised, while Gao Yang pulled Yelena toward him and whispered, "The numbers and the item inside hold special aning for . Please give the item, and as for the numbers, please jot them down for ; I’d like to revisit them."

The internal structure of the watch is very intricate, requiring a magnifying glass to observe subtle details. The technician recorded the numbers engraved inside the watch while gazing at it, then placed the foreign item he ntioned into a small sealed bag and handed both items to Gao Yang with a smile, saying, "The watch is very intricate, putting an extra object inside and engraving numbers with a laser requires great skill. The record you want must be very important. Oh, sorry."

The technician, realizing he was speaking too much, returned behind the workbench to start examining Gao Yang’s watch. Gao Yang took a long look at the small, very thin black square in the sealed bag, which resembled a chip. Then he unfolded the paper from the technician and examined the numbers on it.

After reading it, Gao Yang calmly put it into his pocket then smiled, deeply, at the puzzled-looking Yelena.
