Capítulo 1910: Chapter 1887: Desertion on the Eve of Battle

Perhaps the reality is just as Glolov said, no one knows why this corner holds any significant aning, but since the battle is intensifying, let’s just send more troops.

An insignificant corner, taken at the cost of countless lives, still appears to serve no purpose, so the battle over this corner seems rather aningless. However, even if this place is of no use to us, what if it’s useful to the enemy? Since the enemy is reinforcing here, we need to reinforce as well. The continued reinforcent by the enemy signifies the importance they place on this area. No matter what, continue to send more troops, defeat the enemy, and thwart their objectives.

War is filled with uncertainties. Sotis, a battle that escalates in scale and casualties unfolds in a confusing manner. As for when it will end, only when one side achieves complete victory or can no longer continue and withdraws will it conclude.

But even in a battle that initially had no reason, the increasingly brutal fighting in the latter stages is not entirely aningless. At this point, the area both sides are fighting for may have been aningless at the start, but it fatigues the enemy’s living force. As long as it turns into a war of attrition, even if the place is aningless, if we can wipe out the enemy completely here, then this place naturally gains significance.

Thus, the Governnt Forces and militias began to battle more fiercely and brutally around this place.

Gao Yang didn’t dare to stand up and run casually. At this point in the battle, even scouting around to assess the situation beca very dangerous.

In Syria, or any of Gao Yang’s previous battles, if an artillery shell landed within two hundred ters, it was considered very close. An explosion to the east, two to three hundred ters away, another to the west, three to four hundred ters away – that constituted a battle with high fire density.

But here, the large-caliber artillery rounds were less frequent, yet rifle grenades, mortar shells, and rockets never stopped, continuously exploding everywhere. Artillery falling over a hundred ters away went unnoticed. At the closest, a mortar shell could land twenty to thirty ters from Gao Yang and his team.

Gao Yang and Glolov mostly crawled forward, not daring to stand up. Even if the buildings could shield them from the Governnt Forces’ direct fire, the rifle grenades and mortars were constantly raining down.

Gao Yang saw four n behind a wall, each with a grenade launcher attached to their gun. At their feet were six boxes filled with rifle grenades. The four n proficiently loaded the grenades into the launchers, fired, reloaded, and fired again. They weren’t targeting any enemy specifically, just pouring out firepower.

Even reconnaissance beca so perilous that Gao Yang almost cried watching it.

Everyone crawled on the ground; even then, they couldn’t get too close in case a shell landed and killed them both.

With a grim face, Gao Yang turned his head and shouted at Glolov, “Is this how you fought in Grozny?”

Glolov shouted back, “It was much worse than this!”

Just then, a mortar shell fell nearby. Gao Yang watched as two of the four n thirty ters away were knocked down, while the remaining two collected their guns, dragged the wounded, and retreated. Shortly after, seven or eight more people ca from behind to guard the grenade boxes and resud firing.

Finally, Gao Yang crawled to the corner of a building and lay there, peering out. The view was relatively more open, and he could see things more clearly.

The Governnt Forces’ line had retreated, and the wrecks of tanks and armored vehicles were burning fiercely in the fields. Their soldiers could not be seen, but tracer bullets whizzed through the air, and two tanks were retreating while firing.

The sound of helicopters returned overhead. Gao Yang looked up to see a Mi-24 banking, making a turn in the air, and then imdiately began firing rockets continuously.

Glolov suddenly pointed and shouted, “Look there! Over there, armored vehicles! The Governnt Forces have dispatched reinforcents again!”

Gao Yang leaned forward, observing as two tanks charged rapidly accompanied by six armored vehicles, and the two tanks that had been retreating began to advance once more.

“F**k! They’re coming again, they’re truly mad!”

After Gao Yang yelled, Glolov shouted, “What are you looking at? Infantry and tanks coordinating, this is for a decisive battle, retreat quickly, we must retreat!”

Gao Yang imdiately shouted into the radio, “Toad, retreat quickly! Retreat quickly!”

The two of them then began to crawl backward, dodging direct fire. Just as they were about to sprint back, several dozen people ca running from the alley, led by a middle-aged man who shouted, “Let them get closer before firing! Get the rocket launchers into a good position and let them get close before firing, move the guns here! First hit the armored vehicles, cut off the enemy’s infantry-tank coordination!”

Gao Yang and his companion had a good line of sight, and as it was the main direction of the Governnt Forces’ attack, they took one look at the situation, realized the danger, and, without saying a word, turned and ran back. anwhile, the shouting middle-aged man pointed a pistol at them, shouting, “Get back here! I’ll shoot you for desertion!”

At this mont, you mustn’t talk back or use your identity to argue. When the battle reaches this intensity, a field commander is the sovereign—whatever they say goes. With human brains splattered like dog brains, anyone who dares speak a word of dissent or show the slightest inclination to disobey military orders would find themselves shot by the commander without hesitation.

In the face of an impending enemy attack, if soone deserts, the commander won’t allow such actions that undermine morale. Even if they’re not his soldiers, he must imdiately execute them if caught.

Military orders are like a mountain, they are not to be trifled with.

Gao Yang and Glolov imdiately stopped in their tracks. Undoubtedly, amidst heavy casualties on both sides and facing a fresh wave of strong enemy offensives, saying to a furious frontline commander, “I’m not one of you, I’m just a passerby,” is pure suicide.

Shooting that commander with a single shot wouldn’t be difficult, but at such a critical juncture, if Gao Yang dared to shoot a commander in front of a group, it would certainly draw a storm of bullets.

To leave, they had to wait for that commander to either leave or get closer and reveal their identity at the right ti.

Gao Yang imdiately grabbed the Blade of Satan on his back and shouted, “Sniper, I’m a sniper!”

A sniper is different; snipers have the freedom to choose their positions and can move around the battlefield to find suitable places to shoot.

Gao Yang’s shout and display of his gun changed the commander’s attitude imdiately. The commander waved his hand and shouted, “A sniper? Great! There’s a sniper over there on the opposite side, can you take him out? He’s killed four of my gunners!”
