Now reading: Chapter 1967 - 1944: Battle Axe from Mercenary’s War, a Action novel by Just Like Water.

The tanks were deployed, and new reinforcents arrived.

Now Gao Yang had five T-72 tanks and four BMP-2 armored vehicles. These tanks and armored vehicles were acquired by him for the Angels at an extrely low price, and now he planned to use them to save the Angel rcenary Corps.

However, the enemy’s reinforcents also arrived.

Just as Gao Yang was racking his brains to rescue the Angel rcenary Corps, the Iron Madonna was also trying every possible ans to quickly wipe out the Angels. A surprise attack was impossible for both sides, so the next inevitable confrontation would be a hard-fought battle, where victory would be decided by strength. Moreover, just as the Angels had control of an ard group in Ukraine, the Iron Madonna had clearly gained support from the Governnt Forces.

The enemy launched a new wave of attacks; the militia’s defensive line was on the verge of collapsing. Therefore, Gao Yang had to use the newly gathered forces to fortify the line rather than to rescue the Angel rcenary Corps.

If the enemy breached the defense line, then Nate could no longer be saved.

Around the building where the Angels were trapped, the fighting outside was intense and brutal, but for both sides caught in a difficult position, it was a battle that had to be fought to the end until either victory or defeat.

As ti went by, sporadic reports ca back from Nate’s side. They had been under continuous attack, beyond count, since the attacks never stopped.

The Angels had no fatalities, but two were injured. The most troubleso issue was their high consumption of ammunition, with stores reaching a dangerously low level, especially grenades, which were nearly depleted. Grenades are crucial in indoor combat, and if they ran out, the Angels’ situation would worsen.

When the ti reached six o’clock, the first batch of airdropped weapons finally arrived.

A transport plane airdropped a large quantity of weapons, anti-tank missiles, anti-aircraft missiles, and handheld Cloud Burst Bombs. Although these didn’t contribute significantly to Gao Yang’s offensive, they were indispensable for stabilizing the defense line. So once the weapons arrived, Gao Yang imdiately distributed them.

Actually, Gao Yang wasn’t skilled at commanding large-scale battles, but now he was forced to lead because his task was very simple: send reinforcents wherever they were needed. Quite straightforward.

It was a matter of throwing lives into the fray, just to protect the last line of life for the Angel rcenary Corps.

As previously ntioned, if the enemy truly laid siege with a formidable army, encircling Nate completely in the building, everything would be over.

The battle remained deadlocked. Gao Yang was desperately thinking of solutions, and of course he was not the only one; Satan, including the Angels, Uriyangko, and Ivan, anyone focused on this battle was pondering how to rescue the Angels. But there was no alternative; in this direct confrontation of strength, the only solution was to enhance one’s own strength.

The sky turned dark, yet the battle showed no progress. Gao Yang finally gave up on the fantasy of a quick resolution.

"Fox, contact Koval, see when his n can arrive."

Gao Yang’s throat was hoarse, but his spirit remained strong, showing no signs of fatigue.

"Can’t reach him, Koval’s phone cannot be connected."

Gao Yang, while pondering any available forces, thought of Koval, and therefore instructed Yake to reach out to Koval. But Yake’s response made Gao Yang frown deeply.

"Try contacting him again until we get through."

A few minutes later, Gao Yang took a sip of water from his flask, soothing his throat, and then loudly spoke into the walkie-talkie: "Fox, have you reached Koval?"

"Still can’t reach him, his phone remains unreachable."

Gao Yang put down his flask and addressed those gathered near him: "Since it’s dark, if we are to raid Iron Madonna’s artillery positions, we’ll need a strong enough special forces unit. Either we go ourselves or find soone else to go. Therefore, now Koval’s role becos crucial. Fox, head imdiately to a bar called ’Pepper’ to find Koval; his people should be there."

After speaking, Gao Yang hesitated a mont, then said: "No, your position is crucial; you need to stay here. I’ll assign soone else to go; no, I will go myself."

Although Koval’s interests aligned with Gao Yang’s, their motives differed. Gao Yang’s objective was to rescue the Angels, while Koval aid for revenge, wanting to eliminate each and every Iron Madonna mber. Given this, when Gao Yang needed assistance the most, Koval might not cooperate with Gao Yang’s plans.

Hence, Gao Yang decided to go himself to find Koval and persuade him to first help in dealing with Iron Madonna’s artillery instead of their main forces. In this situation, Yake’s weight was inadequate since Gao Yang preferred to handle it personally.

Gao Yang wasn’t necessarily needed to stay and direct the battle. The current command tasks could be perford by anyone, so having resolved his decision, he imdiately instructed: "Number Thirteen will accompany to the bar to find soone; the others follow Big Dog’s command. We’ll return as soon as possible."

Having stated that, Gao Yang and Number Thirteen quickly left and found a car. Once Number Thirteen got in, they imdiately headed towards the bar Koval had ntioned.

With navigation, finding the place was much easier, and with Donetsk already engulfed in the flas of war, the streets were almost devoid of pedestrians. Therefore, the car moved quickly, taking roughly half an hour before Gao Yang arrived at the bar that Koval had talked about.

The night was completely dark, and Donetsk was nearly without lighting, but the bar Gao Yang was searching for was brightly lit and extrely noisy, with loud music and people’s shouts on the serene street, alongside the rumbling of artillery, drawing considerable attention.

Number Thirteen parked the car. Gao Yang scanned the bar, and solemnly said: "This is the place. Seems like quite a crowd; let’s go in and have a look."

The two stepped out of the car and walked directly towards the bar’s entrance. Gao Yang slung his rifle diagonally over his back to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings, while Number Thirteen nodded towards him, then forcefully pushed open the bar’s door.

With the door opened, Gao Yang walked inside, and then he started questioning whether he was in the right place.

The music was loud—a tune Gao Yang was very familiar with—and the bar’s tables and chairs were pushed aside, creating an open space in the middle where more than twenty burly n were drinking heavily. They seed to have traveled through ti from the dieval era; each wore bullhorn helts, carrying large wooden mugs in their left hands, and most importantly, each wielded an axe in their right hand.

Double-headed axes, single-headed axes, spike-tipped axes, long axes held in two hands, short axes held in one hand—all sorts of axes.

When the group of burly n noticed Gao Yang and Number Thirteen, their drinking session collectively paused, with more than twenty robust n simultaneously turning around to gaze at Gao Yang and Number Thirteen.

"Private party, please leave."

Gao Yang nodded slightly and said loudly, "I’m looking for Koval; he gave this address."

The nearest burly man, who was about 1.9 ters tall and extraordinarily strong, gave off an overwhelming presence. He took a sip from his mug, then shouted, "Koval’s not here; he’ll be back soon. You can wait outside for him, but can’t co in."

At that mont, soone suddenly shouted, "He’s got an axe!"

Instantly, all eyes turned towards the Lucky Axe hanging from Gao Yang’s left chest, and even Gao Yang himself looked at his own axe.

The burly man glanced at the axe hanging from Gao Yang’s chest, then gestured for the music to be turned down, and shouted, "Lower the music."

The noisy music quieted down, and the burly man pointed with his double-bladed axe at the axe on Gao Yang’s chest, shouting, "Why do you have an axe? What’s it for?"

"For chopping people."

Responding humorously, Gao Yang reached out to take his axe from the hook on his left chest, and made a faux chopping motion before loudly saying, "This is my last resort weapon. See this bullet head? So this axe is also my amulet."

The burly man laughed heartily, turned to the crowd behind him, and shouted, "Although it’s a farming axe, it’s his battle axe. See that bullet head? This guy’s really fortunate, haha."

Imdiately, soone in the crowd shouted sothing in a language Gao Yang didn’t understand, then waved his axe at Gao Yang playfully. The burly man turned to Gao Yang and loudly said, "Co over for a drink, mate. You have a battle axe, so join us for a few drinks—but he can’t, since he doesn’t have a battle axe."

Number Thirteen imdiately turned and left, exiting the bar and shutting the door behind him, while the burly man took off the bullhorn helt from his head and placed it on Gao Yang’s head, laughing: "Pick up your battle axe; co have a drink with us. Brothers, let’s welco this guy with the Lucky Axe."
