Even though he always had confidence in the Black Demon, and knew that under this banner gathered a group of devils in essence, Gao Yang still couldn’t fathom how soone could utterly destroy a person’s entire past, even to the point of making him completely obedient against his nature.
Fear stems from the unknown; not knowing how the Black Demon achieved this, Gao Yang was genuinely horrified by Yarebin’s calm words. Damn, these Black Demon guys truly live up to their na.
So when Yarebin told him to give Krulney a new na, it caught Gao Yang off guard. He was never good at naming, and never in his wildest dreams had he considered naming a man in his forties. Such a thing had never even crossed his mind.
After hanging up the phone, Gao Yang thought for a long ti and still couldn’t co up with a na, so he simply gave up. After all, Yarebin said there was no rush.
Calling Number Thirteen again, Gao Yang intended to update him on the latest about Krulney. But when the call connected, Number Thirteen said, "Where are you? If possible, can you et with Murphy? He has sothing to discuss with you."
Every ti there was contact with Murphy, it was never anything good. That’s how it was—if they needed to contact the cleaners, it wasn’t good news; and if Murphy needed to co out himself, it was serious. So when Number Thirteen said Murphy wanted to et, Gao Yang got nervous.
"What’s up? Another problem?"
"No need to worry, it’s not about Krulney."
Gao Yang sighed in relief, smiling as he said, "Could’ve just said that earlier. Where are we eting? I’ll head over."
This eting wasn’t at the usual spot; Gao Yang drove himself to the location Number Thirteen had specified.
The eting place was in a notoriously chaotic area in the Brooklyn District, New York. Gao Yang wondered why Murphy wanted to et there. Upon arriving, he saw Murphy and Number Thirteen in a car—an FBI special operations vehicle.
Seeing Murphy and Number Thirteen leaning against the car door, Gao Yang parked behind their car, got out, and asked curiously, "Why are you guys here, and why this car?"
Murphy, with no manners, casually tossed a half-eaten hot dog to the side, clapped his hands, and said to Gao Yang, "I’m busy now, working on a big case, catching people, buddy. Whether we get them or not, I have to leave quickly, so I arranged to et you here."
Gao Yang curiously asked, "What’s going on?"
Murphy nodded solemnly, "The people you sent to Saudi Arabia, what’s their background?"
Gao Yang frowned, "Buddy, that’s not sothing I can just say. Why are you asking?"
Murphy shook his head, motioning with his hand, "Don’t misunderstand. I just want to talk to them and establish a cooperative relationship, so I need to ask about your relationship with them. If possible, could you introduce ? I need those old guys."
Gao Yang shrugged, smiling as he said, "You need to find your own people? Doesn’t the cleaner have all kinds of talent?"
Murphy sighed, loudly saying, "Buddy, no matter what you do, who wouldn’t want a few more capable people under them? Even if they can’t be under , it’s good to have them as partners, like and Number Thirteen—we’ve always worked well together."
Gao Yang shook his head, helplessly replying, "I can only ask around for you, but I can tell you in advance, they’re unlikely to agree to work for you."
Murphy waved his hand, "Cooperation isn’t that easy. You’re the highest-level client; that’s why I’m asking you. If the level were lower, I wouldn’t even bother, buddy. Can you at least give a hint about their background? I need to report to my superiors."
Gao Yang shook his head, "I can’t say, don’t even ask."
Murphy took a deep breath, reluctantly saying, "It’s not that I’m being unreasonable, but I really need them. Buddy, where did you find these people? It’s like they fell from the sky—so formidable and yet never heard of before. Our people can’t discern their background—so speak English, so French, Spanish, Russian, German, and there’s even an old guy speaking Chinese! F**k! Six people, six languages to cover their backgrounds, and they communicate without a hitch! They seem like CIA, like KGB, like MI6, F**k! They seem like everyone!"
If the Black Demon were easily identifiable, would they still be called the Black Demon? Gao Yang chuckled internally a few tis, then, troubled, said, "Buddy, I know a little about their background, but I can’t disclose it, just like I wouldn’t talk about the cleaner to anyone. You have to understand ; I can only ask them for you."
Murphy motioned with his hand, "Hurry."
Gao Yang smiled bitterly, "Why do you need them?"
Murphy took a deep breath and seriously said, "Buddy, if a task requires spies, assassins, snipers, assault troops, interrogators, body removers, and commanders for on-the-spot decisions, if it takes so many people to accomplish, then I’ll deploy these people. But I can’t send one person who possesses all these skills at once, get it? But the team you found, you just have to give them the mission, and they’ll handle everything themselves—don’t you like people like that?"
Gao Yang smiled, "Of course I do."
"Good, then be the middleman and contact them for , see if they’re willing to cooperate. We can discuss the terms."
"Their commission is very expensive, very, very expensive."
Murphy frowned, "How much did you pay them?"
Gao Yang wasn’t about to spill all his secrets and cards to the cleaner, so of course, he wouldn’t disclose his relationship with the Black Demon.
"50 million, US Dollars, all in cash. I said their asking price is exorbitant."
Murphy touched his bald head, lit a cigarette, and said with difficulty, "Too damn expensive, astronomical, beyond my authority. But worth the price; people like that are wasted on simple tasks. For complicated issues, employing them yields miraculous results—even for that price, it’s worth it. Fine, I’ll submit a report upstairs; you must help ask."
Gao Yang wanted to change the topic now. He curiously asked, "What case are you working on here? What case requires your personal presence?"
Murphy angrily took a drag of his cigarette, helplessly saying, "A damn bastard. Didn’t you notice my unstable emotions and constant cursing today? Because that damn bastard has had us searching for a long ti—a serial killer dismbernt case. This case has long been under the FBI’s jurisdiction. We suspect the perpetrator is in this area, so I ca personally. This is a big case! I’m hoping to catch the suspect and get a promotion, but that damn guy might have escaped again. F**k!"
