Gao Yang and his group drifted at sea for several days, crossed the Suez Canal, disembarked in the waters near Berbera in the Gulf of Aden, and transferred to the fishing boat sent by the Skull Gang to pick them up.
The one driving the fishing boat to pick up Gao Yang and the others was an old soldier from the Instruction Platoon, who were all old acquaintances.
Speaking of them, the batch of soldiers once trained by Satan, especially those from the Instruction Platoon, were no longer ordinary. Each one beca an officer; as long as they survived, even if disabled, as long as they could move, they all held important positions. It could be said that in the Skull Gang’s army, from the commander down, every officer in an important position was brought up by Gao Yang and his group.
The pleasantries on the boat were passed over, and after several bumpy hours, when they finally reached Beira Port far from the shipping lane, a large crowd was already visible standing on the dock from afar.
When the boat ca ashore, and the plank was laid to let Gao Yang and the others disembark, Maide, who was still in a white shirt and seed unchanged from before, had already stretched out his only remaining arm early on.
There weren’t many people Gao Yang genuinely admired, and Maide was one of them.
Maide truly had the heart of a saint, a perfectionist and idealist. Soone like him isn’t particularly effective; his heart isn’t ruthless enough, his thods aren’t harsh enough. He’s better suited to being a banner or mascot. If he ever held significant power, he would eventually be brought down, but for soone like Maide, who is genuinely pure, one can’t help but respect him.
Maide was getting even thinner. Compared with Abu, who was dressed in full military uniform by his side, Maide looked the sa as the first ti Gao Yang saw him. His baby face still lacked authority, though he seed a bit more mature than before.
Hugging Maide, Gao Yang patted Maide’s back and smiled, "Hello, my brother. I didn’t expect you to co to et personally. Aren’t you supposed to be busy now?"
Maide smiled and said, "I am busy, but no matter how busy I am, I have to co to pick you up. By the way, I also want you to inspect our military band and our Honor Guard."
Gao Yang looked back, and sure enough, there was a military band, standing quite straight with a good formation.
Abu stepped forward and shook hands with Gao Yang. As the Skull Gang’s second-in-command, Abu now held a high and mighty position, looking much more authoritative than before. He even saluted before shaking hands.
Wearing a solemn face, Abu shook hands with Gao Yang, clamped the scepter under his arm, turned to the military band, and said loudly, "Play!"
The military band began to play a tune, but Gao Yang couldn’t recognize what it was. The musicians were amateurs, but fortunately, the tune still sounded okay, not like a discordant military band out of tune.
Maide smiled and said to Gao Yang, "This is ’Long Live Somalia,’ our national anthem."
The Somali national anthem was quite short, and the tune soon finished playing. Then the musicians played another tune that Gao Yang couldn’t comprehend. At this mont, Maide waved his hand and smiled, "Let’s review our Honor Guard."
The crowd parted to make way, and only then did Gao Yang notice that a red carpet was spread on the ground.
Swallowing his saliva, Gao Yang looked at his T-shirt and shorts and said urgently, "You didn’t tell earlier. This, how can this image do? Wait for a bit."
Gao Yang had no ceremonial suit, no suit. Who would bring a suit to Somalia in the sumr?
Gao Yang hurriedly opened his bag, took out a quick-drying shirt and a pair of quick-drying tactical pants, changed into them quickly, and then returned to Maide’s side.
Gao Yang really didn’t understand these formalities. He only watched them on television. Fortunately, the Skull Gang mbers might not even have seen it on TV; even if soone did it wrong, no one would notice anyway.
Seeing Abu stand beside Maide, Gao Yang quickly waved to Li Jinfang, and so Li Jinfang stood slightly behind Gao Yang, while Abu was slightly behind Maide on the side.
With rifles raised, performing a salute, though the movents weren’t neat, they were considered good, definitely first-rate for this place in Africa. Moreover, the movents were evidently of Chinese style.
There was no choice; the first person to help the Skull Gang transition from a haphazard band to an army was Li Jinfang.
Maide walked forward, Gao Yang saluted, so did Abu and Li Jinfang, reviewing the Skull Gang’s small Honor Guard.
As crude and simple as it seed, and probably full of errors, here was the embryo of a nation, the first national ceremony being held.
Gao Yang felt quite emotional. From this ceremony alone, Maide and the others were starting to see themselves as the masters of Somalia, while he, a guest, was in a special position.
After reviewing the Honor Guard and reaching the end, the occasion probably warranted the national anthem, but how could Satan have a national anthem? So this was an ignorant, chaotic ceremony, and Gao Yang didn’t know how to proceed to conclude it.
At this mont, Abu, wearing a serious face, broke into a smile, patting Li Jinfang’s shoulder and exclaid, "This is the first appearance of our newly ford military band and Honor Guard, put on to welco you."
Actually, Gao Yang didn’t care about these formalities at all, but one has to admit, being received with a national ceremony felt pretty good.
Li Jinfang nodded and spoke with great emotion, "Thank you."
Maide pointed to Abu and smiled, "This was all his idea, how about it?"
Gao Yang nodded repeatedly and said, "Not bad, really not bad. The most important part is that I get to enjoy it; that’s even better."
Abu loudly declared, "Our friendship is different. This first ti, no matter good or bad, must be reserved for you guys."
Maide smiled, then gestured with his one arm saying, "Invite everyone to eat, let’s talk while we eat."
Yarebin brought Krulney to Berbera, but they didn’t co to welco them. Gao Yang was eager to et Yarebin, but at this ti, they naturally had to accept Maide’s invitation first.
Maide warmly greeted those he knew in Satan, and so did Abu, who chatted happily with Frey and Cui Bo. From the current situation, Abu hadn’t changed much either.
Only two employees from Satan in Berbera ca, Ludwig and Li Qiu, who represented them. Gao Yang approached the two, extended his hand, and smiled, "You two are here, let’s have a al first, and then we will et everyone."
Ludwig nodded, then glanced at Maide, looking at him with a face full of dilemmas, while Li Qiu, even more sheepishly, said, "Boss, Maide might have sothing to say to you later. I hope, um, you can listen to our explanation first."
