Mercenary’s War Chapter 2162 - 2139: Guilt

Gao Yang’s biggest worry was that he might be finished.

Severely sleep deprived and not having eaten for a few days, recovery was not sothing that could happen overnight. Gao Yang was awake now, but his body still felt weak and powerless.

Feeling powerless made Gao Yang anxious. Struggling to sit up from the bed, he said in a low voice, "Get sothing to eat, and also, give a gun!"

Cui Bo imdiately handed over his own pistol, reversing it to pass the handle to Gao Yang, who asked quietly, "Brother Yang, what’s wrong?"

Gao Yang took the gun, his hand imdiately dropping low. He then squeezed the gun tightly and lifted it up before bringing the gun in front of him. First, he removed the magazine, then pulled the slide back to eject the bullet. Raising the gun and aiming, he pulled the trigger. After the sound of a shot, he showed a relieved expression and said, "Very good, nothing’s wrong."

After testing it, confirming he could still fire a gun, Gao Yang looked around at the people beside him and then said, "First of all, except for Yake, is everyone else okay?"

The group looked at each other, and Gao Yang furrowed his brows and asked, "What about Andy He?"

Albert answered quietly, "He’s gone to sleep; he’s exhausted."

Gao Yang’s face turned grim, and he said in a low voice, "Was it surgery for Yake? Speak quickly, are you afraid I can’t handle it?"

Glolov said seriously, "It’s Jas and Jesse Lee. Jas’s left arm has been amputated, and Jesse has lost a leg and an arm. As it stands, maybe he can survive."

"F**k..."

After swearing in a low voice, Gao Yang took a breath and said, "What about Rafael? You haven’t ntioned him; is he okay?"

Frey shrugged and said, "He’s fine, just feels very guilty."

Gao Yang frowned and asked, "Guilty about what?"

Eileen said quietly, "Just when you were first held by Mario, Number Thirteen actually managed to rescue Rafael, but there wasn’t ti to save Yake as well. So, Number Thirteen left, but Rafael stayed to try to rescue Yake, ending up getting captured again."

Gao Yang expressed his shock, "That’s normal, really normal. Number Thirteen is different from us; he can make the most rational decisions without being affected by emotions. However, so choices he makes for us are completely unacceptable. Rafael couldn’t leave Yake and follow Number Thirteen. This was utterly unavoidable."

Glolov said helplessly, "We could only carry so much. After finding you and Yake and taking you away, the weaponry to suppress the enemy was almost used up. But at that ti we still had to rescue Rafael, so the degree of suppression on the enemy drastically decreased. We couldn’t thoroughly suppress their firepower, and during the rescue of Rafael, Jas was hit by fire from behind, and Jesse, when entering, had no chance but to force himself in."

Li Jinfang said quietly, "Jesse was hit a total of thirty-seven tis. His bulletproof vest had twenty impacts, he took one shot to the face, two to the helt, four to the right arm, six to the left arm, three to the left leg, and one to the right leg."

Gao Yang gasped and asked, "Not dead?"

Li Jinfang replied, "Still alive, left arm amputated, right arm not broken but can’t say if it’ll be saved, left leg amputated, right leg shot through, doesn’t look good."

Glolov said seriously, "Rafael feels that if at that ti he had followed Number Thirteen’s orders to leave imdiately, then later we wouldn’t have needed to rescue him; if he hadn’t needed rescuing, then Jesse and Jas wouldn’t have gotten into trouble. So, he feels very guilty."

In Jesse Lee’s situation, even if he survives, his limbs likely wouldn’t be usable. Gao Yang scratched his head and said, "The cost is steep."

Deeply regretting, Gao Yang waved his hand and said, "But no matter what, Rafael wasn’t wrong. If it were you, what would you do back then?"

Glolov said without hesitation, "Of course we’d try to save Yake. We’re comrades, companions. Even if staying ant certain death, we’d still try to save him. Even if saving Yake costs more lives, costs everyone’s life, we have to try. Being a soldier ans that, we’re not assassins. Gao Yang breathed out and said, "I’ll talk to Rafael later. For now, where are we, and what’s the situation?"

Glolov answered, "We’re still on Sicily, in ssina. Yeah, Mario had you hidden on Sicily. After rescuing you, we haven’t left Sicily yet. Ivan took people who temporarily halted operations on Italian soil, waiting for our ssage, waiting for our position to be secure before further action."

Gao Yang furrowed his brows and asked, "Ivan, did Grand Ivan make a move? I an, did he completely break with Mario?"

Glolov smiled bitterly and said, "It’s not just break, it’s full-on war now. Grand Ivan sent Ivan with a large team to start direct combat. Gao Yang chuckled and said, "Our friends really give us face."

After laughing, Gao Yang waved his hand and said, "I need to quickly contact Ivan and see what the situation is now. Mario is no easy opponent. Oh, and there’s one particularly important matter."

Gao Yang’s expression imdiately turned ferocious, his voice loud, "That bastard, I told you to bring him alive, so where is he?"

Eileen said, "Locked up next door, alive and well, just waiting for you to wake up and decide his fate."

Gao Yang breathed a long sigh, clenching his teeth, and said, "That’s great! That’s great! I just feared he was dead. Since he’s still alive, let him regret coming into this world."
