Now reading: Chapter 2282 - 2258: Signs from Mercenary’s War, a Action novel by Just Like Water.

It sounds unbelievable, and it feels absurd to talk about, yet Gao Yang and Morgan were not joking.

This world has never been completely peaceful, never truly distanced itself from the threat of war.

How many years have passed since World War I, and how many since World War II? Before these two world wars, small-scale wars never stopped, and after the two world wars, wars certainly won’t stop either.

So, who dares to guarantee that the Third World War will never co?

The world seems calm now, but did civilians live every day in anxiety and fear of war before World War II?

No, before any major war, the vast majority of people had no concept of war, even if the situation was tense, people would habitually think that the crisis would pass as before until war suddenly broke out, escalating from a small conflict to a local war, and from a local war to a war sweeping across the world.

The general populace is short-sighted, whether they’re civilians or national leaders, it’s actually all the sa, despite clamoring every day saying they don’t want war, saying there won’t be war, yet when war really cos, that’s when people will suddenly realize, oh, so war has truly arrived.

With the substantial increase in human productivity, the scale and damage of war have also greatly increased. And now, it’s almost certain that war will result in devastating consequences because we now have nuclear weapons, and once a weapon is invented, it will definitely be used.

Looking back, the Third World War has already brushed past humanity; the Cuban Missile Crisis almost led to the Third World War, this is acknowledged by all, with everyone mocking the Soviet Union for ultimately retreating at the last minute.

After the Cuban Missile Crisis beca history, looking back, what would have been the consequence if the Soviet fleet had not retreated?

Nuclear weapons, even if no one dares to use them, no one wishes to use them, but as long as they exist, they will eventually be used, as perfectly demonstrated by the Cuban Missile Crisis. However, the vast majority of people habitually ignore this point.

What reason is there, really, for people to believe that once two major powers have a conflict, one side will definitely back down to avoid a world war?

There’s absolutely no reason.

Famine has never been far from humanity, and war has never been far from humanity either. But humans are a forgetful species, a naïve species, always thinking that what they believe won’t happen, really won’t happen.

The current world situation is chaotic, but not particularly so, not to the point of imminent crisis like before World War II. Predicting a war only requires looking at whether the conflicts that may lead to war can be resolved. If they can be resolved, then it’s not a problem, but if the conflicts can’t be resolved, then war is inevitable.

Unfortunately, the major conflicts in the world today really cannot be resolved by any ans other than war, no reform or redial asures work, so all people can do is watch as the conflicts gradually deepen, gradually escalate, and then completely burst into a large-scale war.

Both world wars originated from Old Europe, and the Third World War, maybe tomorrow, maybe five years later, ten years later, but in the end, it will originate from Old Europe too.

Europe seems peaceful, harmless, and weak now, but looking past appearances to the essence, Europe’s contradictions are the most severe, and Europe’s contradictions cannot be resolved, so war can only originate from Europe.

Regarding war, ordinary people are definitely the last to be aware, and besides those who start wars, who else is most sensitive to war?

Gao Yang is definitely among the most sensitive to war, because he is himself an arms dealer, thinking about creating wars when there are none, and Gao Yang now is no longer a low-level cannon fodder, the amount of information he can access is already at the top echelon of the world.

With Grand Ivan, the largest arms dealer, and Justin, the largest intelligence dealer, if a large-scale war is about to occur anywhere, Gao Yang would be among the first to know.

And Morgan, he is equally sensitive to war, or rather, extrely sensitive to any form of turmoil.

Because Morgan’s business primarily operates in war-torn regions, if Gao Yang makes money from the destruction of war, then Morgan earns from post-war reconstruction, or rather, Morgan makes money by taking advantage of war-torn countries, how could soone in this business not be sensitive to war.

If Gao Yang and Morgan’s concerns beco reality, then they are prophets who made the right choice ahead of others, and if their worries ultimately proved to be a false alarm, what does it matter? After a false alarm, one can still drink and dance, isn’t that better than blaming oneself for not preparing when disaster strikes?

So, the diamond market experienced a fluctuation, and while others will only look for reasons within the market, Morgan and Gao Yang almost imdiately looked past the limitations of the diamond market, seeking deeper root causes.

What is foresight? Morgan and Gao Yang epitomize it, when so people successfully avoid disaster, the greatest likelihood is not that they have foresight, but that they are cautious enough.

So, Gao Yang did not think Morgan was making a fuss, nor did he think Morgan was worrying unnecessarily. He simply imdiately recalled a persistent thorn in his heart.

Gao Yang wondered why the cleaners were purchasing large amounts of outdated weapons, even setting up production lines.

When Morgan ntioned the fluctuation in the diamond market, linking it to potentially bad events, Gao Yang imdiately decided to reveal this information to Morgan.

Gao Yang glanced at Simon, then at Morgan, before lowering his voice to say, "There’s sothing it’s ti to tell both of you. Please rember, never disclose this information to anyone else, or I might die, and many others might die as well."

After quietly warning them, Gao Yang said in a somber tone, "The cleaners are purchasing large amounts of old-style weapons and production lines, and all these things have been sent to Africa, which was all organized by ."

Morgan’s face darkened as he stared at Gao Yang, "Large amounts of old-style equipnt?"

Gao Yang replied softly, "Yes, artillery, tanks, armored vehicles, rifles, grenades, but no airplanes, no electronic controls; every piece of military equipnt must have a production line, what does this make you think of?"

Morgan trembled as he spoke, "Nuclear war, only a nuclear war."

Gao Yang spread his hands, saying, "I’ve been puzzled, but I couldn’t think of a reason because I believe that a nuclear war really isn’t possible in the short term."

Morgan pondered for a very long ti, a very, very long ti, and then he whispered, "Gao, you said the cleaners are sending everything to Africa, right? Then, let’s start preparing in Africa too."
