555: Chapter 550 There is a problem with this 555: Chapter 550 There is a problem with this He set out to learn how to fly an airplane and ended up recruiting a new mber.
That was an accident, a big accident.
Gao Yang originally planned to use this break as an opportunity to find a blaster for Satan.
He already had a target in mind, the Sicilian Rafael Bellini, recomnded by Nate.
After several attempts using the number Nate had given him, Gao Yang couldn’t get through—the calls to Rafael’s phone were always unreachable.
This was normal, given that Rafael’s phone was a regular mobile phone rather than a satellite phone.
For a rcenary or a security company employee, being in a place without a signal was quite common.
It wasn’t until a few days ago that Gao Yang finally got in touch with Rafael.
After explaining who he was and the reason for his call, he directly invited Rafael.
Gao Yang couldn’t just pull soone into Satan without eting them first, so he invited Rafael to et and talk.
Only when he could confirm Rafael was indeed the right person could he allow Rafael to join Satan.
Rafael was very interested in Gao Yang’s call, especially after learning that it was Nate from Angel rcenary Corps who had referred him.
Unfortunately, Rafael was currently on a security project in Iraq with his team and couldn’t leave.
It would be at least ten more days before he could finish his work and co to Arica.
The Rafael he wanted to recruit hadn’t yet been seen, but unexpectedly, Gao Yang found an extrely fierce and ferocious woman.
That was an accident, but an accident Gao Yang liked.
Gao Yang and his team didn’t wait until twelve o’clock in the office.
As soon as Eileen had rested enough to move, they went to Eileen’s ho.
Since the flight school was definitely in the suburbs for convenience, Gao Yang and Cui Bo rented a car for transportation.
Eileen, on the other hand, drove a very, very old beater.
It wasn’t a well-maintained classic car, but a car over thirty years old that was as battered as it could be.
Upon seeing Eileen’s car, Gao Yang shook his head and said to Eileen, “Does this car hold any special significance for you?”
Eileen shrugged and replied, “The special significance is that I don’t have to take the bus every day and then run another twelve kiloters after getting off.
Old as it is, this car cost five hundred dollars.”
Gao Yang waved his hand and said, “If it doesn’t hold special significance, get rid of it.”
As Eileen was opening the car door, she heard Gao Yang’s words and shrugged, “I do indeed want to ditch this car, but now’s not the ti.
Although it’s falling apart, it still runs and I can give it to my roommate.”
Hearing Eileen had plans for her car, Gao Yang didn’t say much more and just followed Eileen’s beater back to Portland City.
Eileen’s car was old but not slow.
The main reason, though, was that Eileen dared to drive a junker so fast, which Gao Yang considered suicidal.
Following Eileen, Gao Yang and his team arrived in a run-down neighborhood of Portland.
It was not an area with detached villas but a complex of apartnt buildings.
One could tell by the graffiti on the walls and the loitering hoodlums that the neighborhood wasn’t very safe.
Eileen parked and, after eting up with Gao Yang, headed toward one of the apartnt buildings.
She took out her keys to unlock the door to an apartnt and walked straight in.
When Gao Yang followed her into the apartnt, he saw a girl lying on the couch watching TV.
At the sight of Gao Yang, the girl sprang up quickly and shrieked, “Damn it, Eileen, you should have told we were having guests.”
The heating in the apartnt wasn’t very good, so the girl was dressed in many layers.
Gao Yang couldn’t think of any reason why the girl needed to scream.
Eileen gave Gao Yang an apologetic smile and said, “Sorry, I really should have called ahead.
Please wait a mont while I talk to my friend, and then we can go.”
The apartnt was small, but the living room was tidy and clean.
After asking Gao Yang and the others to sit down, Eileen stood up, opened the fridge, and took out a few bottles of beer.
Without using a bottle opener or biting with her teeth, she popped the caps off using just her thumb.
Holding the beer Eileen had handed him, Gao Yang and Cui Bo exchanged glances.
Then Cui Bo raised his bottle to Eileen and said, “Thanks for not actually throwing a punch at just now.”
Eileen raised her bottle in response to Cui Bo and said, “No need to ntion it.
When dealing with ordinary people, I always hold back to avoid killing soone.”
Cui Bo was speechless and simply shook his head before guzzling a sip of beer.
That’s when Eileen raised her bottle to Gao Yang and asked, “Boss, that kick was impressive.
Do you practice often?”
Gao Yang nodded and replied, “I practice often, whenever I have the ti.”
Eileen also nodded and asked, “If you have ti, could you teach ?”
Gao Yang imdiately hesitated, and after deliberating for a while, he finally chuckled and said, “Let’s talk about that later.”
Gao Yang would rather die than teach Eileen that move, he would teach it to anyone but Eileen.
After Eileen’s roommate ran back to her own room, it took a long ti before she finally ca out of the bedroom, by which ti Gao Yang was already on his third bottle of beer.
Gao Yang understood why she had run back to the bedroom—it was to apply makeup.
He had glanced at her briefly before, Eileen’s roommate had seed quite ordinary, but now that she was coming out again, she astonished Gao Yang.
Eileen pointed to her roommate and said, “Harley, my roommate, also my friend.
Harley, this is my new boss, and this is my new colleague.”
Harley greeted Gao Yang and Cui Bo with a poised handshake, and said, “Hello.”
Eileen shrugged and said, “Harley, I’m moving out.
Thank you for taking in when I was at my lowest.
All my stuff here, I’ll leave to you, and that old car of mine, I’ll give it to you too.
However, I suggest you move out as well, this neighborhood is too dangerous for you alone.”
Taking the keys to the house and the car from Eileen, Harley said helplessly, “You’re moving out?
Where are you moving to?
What’s your new job?”
Eileen smiled and said, “A job that makes a lot of money, but it’s not suitable for you.
Now, I need to grab my things.”
When Eileen opened her bedroom door, Gao Yang couldn’t help but widen his eyes.
Eileen’s room was far from tidy, with bottles, cigarette butts everywhere, and dirty clothes and underwear thrown all over the bed.
After rummaging through her room that resembled a junk pile, she scratched her head and said, “Damn it, don’t I have a single clean piece of underwear left?
Forget it.
I won’t take it.”
Muttering to herself, Eileen picked up a picture fra and two badges from her desk and walked out of the bedroom.
She said to Harley, “Sorry you have to clean my room.
I’ll give you my computer—the stuff on Drive F, don’t look at—just delete it for .
Whatever you can use, keep; the rest, toss it, it’s up to you.”
As she spoke, Eileen noticed that Gao Yang and Cui Bo were staring at the badges in her hand.
Eileen raised the badges and said, “One from KSK, the other from Delta.
Foreigners hardly get these, you know.
I was the only one in my foreign cohort to receive them.
Here, take a look.”
Gao Yang instinctively took the badges.
He wasn’t really interested in the badges themselves; instead, he pointed to the picture fra in Eileen’s hand and asked, “May I take a look at that?”
Eileen looked at the picture fra, pursed her lips, and hesitated before handing it over to Gao Yang.
Gao Yang had roughly seen it, but hadn’t gotten a clear view; after taking the picture fra, he and Cui Bo took a close look, exchanged glances, then looked at Eileen, and collectively fell into silence.
The photo was of a family of three, including a very cute girl who seed to be around thirteen or fourteen.
Though she looked quite different from the current Eileen, it was still clear that the girl was Eileen.
The young Eileen in the photo had a very sweet smile and looked sweet too.
Both Gao Yang and Cui Bo couldn’t help comparing the Eileen in the photo to the one standing before them, and though they didn’t dare say it aloud, they lanted internally: How could such a good girl have gone off track like this?
Besides Eileen, there was also a middle-aged woman with a very elegant deanor in the picture, undeniably Eileen’s mother.
But what really caught Gao Yang’s attention was Eileen’s father, a military man dressed in a uniform, looking very dignified, even when smiling.
That Eileen’s father was a military man wasn’t surprising.
However, what was shocking was the rank insignia on her father’s shoulder: that of a major general.
After examining the photo closely, Gao Yang looked at Cui Bo and said, “I’m not seeing things, am I?”
Cui Bo nodded and confird, “No mistake.
Look at the dress uniform, the insignia, absolutely no mistake, major general!”
Gao Yang, looking incredulously at Eileen, said, “I’m sorry, but I really have to ask, your father, he’s actually a general?”
It’s very obvious, he’s a major general, hmm, or maybe now a lieutenant general, he must have been promoted by now.
I heard he was going to be promoted to lieutenant general when I was retiring, and it’s about ti too, clearly, the photo is from over a decade ago.”
A big shot, this is definitively, unmistakably, a big shot.
Gao Yang took a sharp breath and said, “If I rember correctly, in Germany, the Army commander, oh, now you don’t call them commanders, you call them Inspector Generals.
I recall the rank of the Army Inspector General is lieutenant general?”
Eileen nodded and said, “That’s right, the rank of the Army Inspector General is lieutenant general, but no, my father isn’t the Inspector General.
Um, but now you understand why I was shuffled around in KSK after they found out who my dad is?
No choice, once they knew who my dad was, they wouldn’t let stay in the combat departnt anymore, damn bootlickers!”
If Gao Yang had been Eileen’s superior, he absolutely would have transferred her as well—a daughter of a serving lieutenant general of a major country in the army, it’s a joke, she would definitely be sidelined to a departnt that’s less dangerous but also important.
Pull the daughter of an active duty lieutenant general of a major nation into his own rcenary group?
Then go to war, the kind that could get her killed at any mont?
Gao Yang suddenly felt that this venture was becoming sowhat dubious.
