761: Chapter 752: How about starting a country?

Gao Yang was lost in thought about sothing, deeply engrossed, and didn’t hear Catherine calling him twice.

It wasn’t until Catherine poked his arm that Gao Yang snapped out of his reverie.

“What’s up?”

“What are you thinking about?

Just now, Mupa seed to have spotted prey that could fill your stomach, but when she called you, you didn’t hear her.”

Gao Yang smiled sheepishly and said, “I was just pondering so things, um, I was considering how to better settle the Akuri tribe.”

Adele chuckled lightly and asked, “What have you co up with?”

Gao Yang whistled and answered, “Well, I was thinking about which country would be most suitable to move the Akuri tribe to.

In a stable country, if I were to buy a large piece of land, it would cost a lot of money and there would be many restrictions.

If I set up a security company and then send soone to take care of the Akuri tribe, that seems sowhat unrealistic too.

So the simplest thod is actually to find a country with an environnt suitable for the Akuri tribe to survive, highly civilized, where the people are tolerant enough.

Such a country would be ideal.”

Adele, full of curiosity, asked, “Which country ets all these criteria?”

Gao Yang pursed his lips and said, “Actually, I’ve thought for a long ti, but no country is suitable.

There are many countries with vast grasslands, for instance, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria.

Although these countries are relatively stable, migrating the Akuri tribe there would be too difficult.”

Catherine pondered and then suggested, “The Akuri tribe could be relocated to Boma Natural Park, which is further away from the northern border and safer.”

Gao Yang shook his head and replied, “It’s still not safe enough.

I’m no longer satisfied with just keeping the Akuri tribe from being slaughtered; I want them to live better.”

Adele said helplessly, “Unless you control a country yourself, you can only pick a place that is relatively not the worst.”

Gao Yang pointed at Adele and laughed, “Exactly!”

Adele asked, “Where do you think is not the worst place?”

“Repeat the last sentence!”

After thinking it over, Adele said with a surprised look, “You want to control a country yourself?”

Gao Yang nodded and replied, “That’s right.

Since there is no suitable country, then establishing such a country myself seems like a not-so-bad choice.”

Catherine and Adele both opened their mouths wide with shock, then exclaid in unison, “Are you crazy?”

Gao Yang snapped his fingers and said with a smile, “Well, thinking about it now, overthrowing a country doesn’t seem to be that difficult a task, of course, it would have to be a small country, one without too many resources, and one that doesn’t attract the attention of the international community and major powers.

And I can’t be the frontman like a president, but if I decide to stay behind the scenes, then overthrowing a small country and building it according to my wishes isn’t impossible!”

Catherine was still too shocked and looked at Gao Yang as if he were a stranger, “Are you sure you haven’t gone mad?”

Gao Yang shrugged and said, “Well, how should I put it?

I’ve done so research into the history of rcenaries.

Have you ever heard of Bob Denard?

A Frenchman, the most famous rcenary, Bob Denard was active in Africa for over thirty years.

He orchestrated assassinations, led coups.

Bob Denard personally oversaw many coups—Congo-Kinshasa, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Benin, Comoros, Ankara; he had his hand in all these places.”

After contemplating for a mont, Catherine added, “I know him, the most famous rcenary leader of the last century, a lackey of the French governnt, Emperor of Comoros, the one who rode a bicycle into Angola leading rcenaries and then established a pro-Arican governnt, is that him?”

Gao Yang snapped his fingers and said with a smile, “Yes, that’s the man, Bob Denard, a legendary figure in the rcenary circle.

He passed away in 2007, died of old age.

Envious, isn’t it!

Actually, I think that maybe I couldn’t reach Bob Denard’s level, but finding a small country and gradually taking control doesn’t seem too difficult.”

Adele spoke feebly, “Oh God, Gao, you need to realize, that was last century, and now it’s 2013.

Do you think it’s still possible?”

Gao Yang responded earnestly, “Actually, it’s quite possible.

I know a guy whose greatest wish is to overthrow a country by hand and then establish his own puppet governnt.

I’ve discussed this issue with him.

He has a list that outlines which countries are ripe for takeover.

But his ambition is too great; he only wants to deal with big countries.”

Gao Yang was referring to Nate Schumacher.

After a pause to think carefully, Gao Yang smiled and said, “Now I feel that guy is right.

Perhaps I should also start considering establishing a country under my control.

Well, I don’t have such grand ambitions; a small country would suffice for .”

Adele pondered seriously for a mont, then suddenly smiled and said, “Are you thinking of changing careers to beco an ambitious leader?

Frankly, I like it.

So, tell , which countries do you think are suitable?”

With his mind bursting with ideas, Gao Yang excitedly said, “First off, we need to steer clear of the traditional spheres of influence of the major powers.

Right now, I think Rwanda is not bad, Burundi could work too, or it might be possible to establish a territory in Somalia that I actually control.”

Catherine said in shock, “My God, are you serious?

Except for Somalia, do you realize how stable the other two countries you ntioned are right now?

Don’t go ssing up people’s lives.”

Adele snapped her fingers and said seriously, “I suggest you set your sights on those small island nations.

How about Cape Verde, or Seychelles?

No one pays any attention to those little places.”

Gao Yang nodded repeatedly and said, “As an alternative, they can be considered.

In fact, the most likely scenario for right now is to actually control a part of Somalia.

Hmm, if I’m willing to fully support a Somali force, I think, they might, perhaps, probably let control a small area.

I dare not claim too much, but two to three thousand square kiloters should be no problem, right?”

With a look of resignation, Catherine said, “Oh Lord, are you thinking of becoming a warlord again?”

Adele, however, nodded and said, “Somalia is quite arid, but so areas in the south are still suitable for the Akuri tribe to live in.

I think it’s not bad.”

Catherine said with a wry smile, “Friends, the golden age of rcenaries is over.

Your ideas have no chance of becoming reality.

Modern society will not allow such things to happen.”

Gao Yang glanced at Catherine and said, “Who says?

Do you think anyone would care or interfere with what happens in the inland areas of Somalia?”

Catherine was stumped, then shrugged helplessly and said, “Alright, you have a point.

Indeed, no one would care, as long as you don’t provoke the major powers.”

Gao Yang laughed and said, “That’s what I an.

It’s not hard to achieve this, and I can easily find people to help.

So folks would be really happy to provide with guidance, to teach the whole process of initiating a coup, and for free.

The most important thing is, that guy might even pay out of his own pocket to help .”

Catherine muttered to herself, “Who would be that bored, that, that crazy?”

Not intending to conceal anything from Catherine, Gao Yang smiled and said, “The guy you’re asking about is Nate Schumacher, a German, the leader of the Angel rcenary Corps.

He’s been studying this for a long ti to achieve his dreams, and I suspect he already has so experience.

Right now, he’s thinking about how to ss with a major power, like Ukraine or Poland.

Even though I think it’s unlikely, I’m quite looking forward to seeing if he can pull off sothing big.”

After a couple of helpless chuckles, Catherine looked at Gao Yang and asked, “When do you plan to start your transformation into an ambitious leader?”

Gao Yang waved his hand and said, “I’m just thinking about it for now.

I won’t be able to make a move anyti soon.

At the very least, I need to have enough people first, right?

Trying to control a country with just ten people, no matter how small, is impossible.

I’m not that crazy.”

Catherine sighed in relief and said, “Thank goodness, you haven’t totally lost your mind.”

Gao Yang grinned and said, “However, we can start with the preliminary work.

I need to collect intelligence and take advantage of suitable opportunities when they arise.

I do want to truly control a country, not just hit and run like Bob Denard.”

As his horizons broadened, his experiences grew, and his abilities increased, people change.

So, Gao Yang wasn’t joking; he was seriously considering getting a country to play with.

Just as Gao Yang couldn’t help but think about how to take over a country, Mupa tugged at his sleeve and whispered, pointing in a direction, “We’ve reached the waterhole.

Look over there, there’s an antelope.

It’s a bit far.

Go over quietly by yourself.

These antelopes run away at the slightest noise; you can’t make a sound.”

Approaching the waterhole, the lack of trees ant a clearer view.

Gao Yang followed Mupa’s pointing finger and saw an antelope with vertical stripes.

After signaling to Catherine and the others not to make a sound, Gao Yang imdiately took off his rifle and aid at the antelope.

At a distance of less than a hundred ters, Gao Yang didn’t need to get closer to shoot.

As soon as he raised his gun, the gunshot echoed, and the antelope fell.

Just as Gao Yang was about to shoot, Catherine, who had raised her binoculars, cried out urgently, “That’s a purple antelope, don’t shoot, it’s endangered…

well, you’ve already killed it.”

Gao Yang’s hands were too fast; before Catherine could finish, he had already shot their dinner.

Under Catherine’s resigned gaze, Gao Yang said with an embarrassed face, “Sorry, I tend to shoot very quickly.

I an, what I want to know is, does it taste good?”

Catherine couldn’t possibly know what a rare antelope like that would taste like, but Mupa eagerly answered Gao Yang’s question, “White Child, you’re amazing.

You hit it from so far away.

This type of antelope has plenty of delicious at, very tasty!”
