"I've been thinking over the past few days," Hao'er began, his gaze fixed on Muchen and Yue'er, "Perhaps your symptoms aren't due to illness, but a bloodline connection. A sense that sothing has happened to Father and Mother." Seeing their startled expressions, he continued on with apprehension, "It's just my own guess. After all, Father and Mother are incredibly powerful. With the Devil Lord gone, who could possibly be their enemy? I really can't think of anyone that can be their match."
"Then, what happened to them?" The children asked, their voices filled with worry.
Hao'er shook his head. "I don't know. We can't get any news here. Even if sothing happened, we'd be in the dark."
"Then let's go!" Muchen exclaid, his face urgent. "Let's find that sect. You said they could help us leave this place and reach the other realms! Maybe we can go ho that way!"
"Big Brother, are we leaving?" Yue'er asked with a twinkle in her eyes.
Hao'er paused, then nodded. "Alright, we'll prepare to leave for the sect and find a way back as soon as possible." He turned to Seventeen. "Prepare dried food, pastries, anything we can eat on the journey."
"Yes," Seventeen replied imdiately as he turned and went to gather all the things needed for the next leg of their journey.
They spent the entire day preparing. At dawn the next morning, Seventeen drove the carriage, heading towards the sect.
The old man from Rejuvenating Hall who had been watching them, sent a report back and continued to follow them. The owner of Rejuvenating Hall, suspecting they carried valuables, joined the pursuit.
The carriage left the west gate, speeding along the mountain road. Muchen and Yue'er gazed out the window, enjoying the morning breeze as they watched the scenery pass them by.
Hao'er was resting with his eyes closed, until they left the city, he suddenly opened his eyes and a cold glint flashed by his eyes.
"Big Brother, what's wrong?" Muchen asked, noticing the change.
"Soone's following us," Hao'er said.
Muchen and Yue'er tensed. Seventeen asked, "Could it be soone from Rejuvenating Hall, Young Master?"
"Keep going. We'll see who it is," Hao'er replied. "Stay alert."
"Alright," the children nodded, though they couldn't sense the pursuers.
The carriage continued, passing occasional travelers. On a secluded mountain road, a figure suddenly leapt onto the horse's head, forcing it to its knees.
"Ssshh!"
"Bang!"
The horse whinnied, then collapsed, tilting the carriage forward, throwing the children and Seventeen out.
