Before Feng Jiu could react or defend herself, Old Man Tianji struck her on the back, immobilizing her. “I’ve already told you, his tribulation can only be overco by him, himself. No one can help.”
Feng Jiu was paralyzed. Her anxiety and worry quickly turned to anger. “What are you doing! Release ! Quickly!”
Old Man Tianji glanced at the churning clouds and sighed. “Today is the forty-ninth day, the final lightning tribulation.” He looked at Xuanyuan Mo Ze’s ravaged body, his eyes filled with regret.
Feng Jiu’s heart sank. Her voice was strained. “What do you an? Are you saying he won’t survive today?”
As if in response, a low rumble of thunder echoed. She looked up and noticed that, unlike yesterday, the lightning had not yet struck. The clouds were churning more violently than ever.
Panic surged through her. “Release ! Now!” She tried her best to break free, using her spiritual energy to overco the immobilization without any regard.
“Look .” Old Man Tianji said, pointing towards Xuanyuan Mo Ze as he gave a wry smile.
When Feng Jiu’s gaze followed his fingers, her breath got caught in her throat. All she could see was nine bolts of lightning surrounding Xuanyuan Mo Ze, forming a cage around him. They stretched from the clouds to the ground, obscuring him from view.
Unable to see him, she was consud by anxiety. Her spiritual energy surged, but she couldn’t break free. She couldn’t understand how Old Man Tianji had managed to immobilize her so thoroughly.
“Rumble!”
The thunder grew louder, and the sky darkened, as if a black cloth had been draped over it.
Fierce winds whipped around them, but the clouds and the lightning pillars remained unmoved. The air grew heavy with foreboding as the clouds contined to amass and the rumbling continued.
In the mortal realm sect, Muchen and Muyue who were practicing their martial arts in the courtyard suddenly stopped in their tracks. They clutched their chests, their hearts pounding erratically. They stared at the sky, fear creeping into their eyes.
“Chen’er, Yue’er, is it happening again?” Hao’er rushed to them, pulling them into a tight embrace. “Don’t be afraid. Big Brother is here. Nothing will happen.”
Muchen stared at the sky, his eyes filled with dread. “Big Brother, sothing terrible is going to happen. I feel it. I’m so scared…”
Muyue bit her lip, her eyes filled with tears.
