As he spoke, his gaze rested on Feng Jiu, a warm smile gracing his lips. “Ghost Doctor, it is a rare occasion for you to visit, and I happen to have a matter I wish to discuss with you privately. Would you please join in my study?”
Without hesitation, Feng Jiu replied, “Certainly.”
Turning to his wife, the Black Tortoise Monarch said, “Why don’t you take the children to explore the grounds and enjoy themselves? It has been a long ti since we have had such a lively atmosphere here.”
“I will,” the Black Tortoise Mistress responded with a gentle nod. Taking her youngest son by the hand, she addressed Hao’er, Muchen, Muyue, and their companions. “Let’s take a stroll through the gardens! When you grow weary, we can return here to rest. I have already instructed the kitchen to prepare so of the children’s favorite snacks and have them brought to the garden.”
“Go on ahead!” Feng Jiu gestured for the children to follow the Black Tortoise Mistress.
Seeing this, Du Fan also rose to his feet with a smile. “I had the pleasure of visiting once before, but I didn’t have the opportunity to truly appreciate the unique flowers and plants in your garden. I must take a closer look this ti.”
“I will gladly show you around. This way, please,” Lady Black Tortoise said with a gracious smile, gesturing for them to follow as she led the group outside.
Once they had departed, the Black Tortoise Monarch also stood up and gestured towards his study. “Ghost Doctor, please.”
Feng Jiu nodded and followed him. Her primary purpose for this visit was to return Hao’er to his biological parents. However, she also harbored a secondary intention: if they were agreeable, she wished to entrust Hao’er to the masked man, hoping he could guide the boy towards a reputable Sect or a powerful ntor for proper cultivation.
Yet, she remained uncertain about their willingness to part with Hao’er, nor was she entirely sure if her idea was too self-serving. Thus, she planned to use her ti here to observe the Black Tortoise Monarch and his wife’s interactions with Hao’er, hoping to gauge their feelings and determine if they might consider allowing him to leave.

They are not rely for aesthetic pleasure; the majority of them also possess dicinal properties.”
“Herbs? How fascinating!” Yue’er’s soft voice was filled with genuine surprise, her small face radiating joy. “Yue’er is currently learning about herbs, so in the future, I will know many herbs and will also know what these dicinal flowers are used for~”
“Yue’er is so clever. In the future, she will undoubtedly beco like Mother, a highly skilled alchemist and Pharmacist,” Hao’er said, looking at his younger sister, a rare, gentle smile softening his usually serious features.
Hearing his words, the Black Tortoise Mistress glanced at him. The tender expression on his face and his reference to Feng Jiu as “Mother” caused the smile on her own face to involuntarily falter.
After all, in his heart, Feng Jiu would always hold the place of his mother, while she, his biological mother, was addressed with a more formal and distant “Mother.”
The little boy holding the Black Tortoise Mistress’ hand looked from his older brother to Yue’er, blinked his innocent eyes, and remained silent, seemingly lost in his own thoughts.
“Big Brother, let’s go over there and look at those flowers!” Yue’er exclaid, tugging on the hands of the two people beside her and skipping off in another direction.
