Chapter 4641: Teaching
Hearing this, Du Fan was montarily surprised by Yue’er’s astute observation. However, recalling the inherent intelligence often displayed by his Master’s children, he simply smiled gently and said, “No, Yue’er, don’t overthink it. Your Big Brother won’t be angry with you.”
Yue’er blinked her large eyes, accepting his words without further comnt. She rely nodded and then lay down on the table, resting her small chin on the back of her hand, patiently awaiting her mother’s return.
When Feng Jiu finally rejoined them, she found everyone still gathered in the courtyard, seated around the table. “Have you all eaten?” She asked gently. “Why didn’t you rest first?”
“We had so snacks, but not dinner yet. We’re waiting for Master to co back,” Leng Hua replied respectfully.
Seeing this, Feng Jiu instructed Leng Shuang, “Have the servants bring dinner. Just set it up here in the courtyard. Bring two tables from inside and place them together.” As she spoke, her gaze swept around, noting the absence of Hao’er. “Where is Hao’er? Did he join Black Tortoise Mistress for dinner?”
“Mother, earlier when I was in the garden, I pushed Big Brother’s little brother down,” Muchen stated, standing up to address her directly.
Hearing this, Feng Jiu raised her eyebrows slightly, squatted down to et his gaze, and asked softly, “Then tell Mother, why did you push him down?”
“Mother, Mother, Big Brother’s little brother pushed Yue’er first, so my brother pushed him back,” Yue’er interjected quickly, hopping off her stool to stand protectively beside Muchen, clearly worried that her mother might scold him.
Feng Jiu gently patted both children on the head and smiled. “It is natural for brothers to protect their sisters; there is nothing wrong with that. However, we are guests in soone else’s ho, so we must be mindful not to go too far. If it is a minor matter, it is often best to let it go and not hold a grudge. Harboring resentnt over every little thing will only lead to trouble for yourselves in the long run.”
“Yes, we understand,” the two little ones replied in unison, their young minds carefully absorbing their mother’s teachings.
“That little boy is your Big Brother’s younger brother. He is younger than you and does not yet possess your understanding. You pushed him down. Tell , whose side would your Big Brother likely take? Wouldn’t that place him in a difficult position?” Feng Jiu said softly, her eyes eting theirs.
The two children listened intently to her words, exchanging a thoughtful glance. Muchen then asked, “Mother, what should we do?”
Feng Jiu smiled knowingly. “Didn’t you bring a gift for your Big Brother’s little brother? Mother will accompany you to give him the gift and offer an apology.”
“But Mother just said that it’s right for brothers to protect their sisters and that we did nothing wrong. Why do we have to apologize?” Yue’er asked, her brow furrowed in confusion.
Feng Jiu chuckled softly, gently pinching her daughter’s cheek. “We are not going to apologize because you did sothing wrong, but because it is a polite gesture. Besides, it was just a small incident, wasn’t it?”
The two children considered her words and finally nodded in agreent. “Alright! We will listen to Mother.”
Feng Jiu stood up and addressed the others in the courtyard. “You all eat first! Don’t wait for us. I will take them over there.”
“Since you said it was a small matter, why make them go over there? Besides, if anyone should apologize, it should be them,” the masked man remarked indifferently.
Feng Jiu turned to him, the corners of her lips curving into a subtle smile. “I am simply teaching the children how to navigate social interactions. Why resort to fists when you can use your brains to resolve things?”
She smiled again, looking down at the two children who were gazing up at her expectantly, then took their hands and led them out of the courtyard.
