Chapter 4902: Approach
“Tsk, they really aren’t afraid to spend. This ancient formation may enhance defenses and grant counterattack power, but it also drains imnse energy and spirit energy from its caster.” She stood with her hands behind her back, suspended amidst the clouds, observing the rippling layers of air currents enveloping the immortal island ahead.
“Very well, I’ll wait a little longer! You won’t escape anyway.” She murmured softly, her icy gaze fixed on the immortal island ahead, a resolute, cold smile curling her lips.
Upon seeing the ancient formation here, she abandoned plans to visit the other two Great Emperors. Instead, she drew the flying feather from her waist and soared through the clouds. After a long flight, she spotted a town below and descended.
As she walked toward the city, she overheard passing cultivators murmuring about Yunxiao Mountain and the Azure Emperor. Keeping her wits about her, she slowed her pace to listen for a mont before heading toward an inn ahead.
“Waiter, a superior room.” Feng Jiu stepped inside, her gaze sweeping indifferently over the first floor patrons before glancing up at the second floor. She headed to the counter.
“Honored guest, we only have one standard room left today. Perhaps…” The proprietor, noticing her refined bearing and striking beauty, approached personally.
Feng Jiu noticed the crowd inside and how every pair of eyes had fixed on her since she entered. She frowned slightly and said, “Never mind.”
She would find another, quieter place. Just as she turned to leave, a cultivator stepped before her.
“Fair maiden, how about this—I’ll give up my superior room for you!” The male cultivator adopted a polite and courteous deanor, bowing respectfully to Feng Jiu. Yet his gaze lingered on her, filled with astonishnt and admiration.
“No need,” Feng Jiu replied coolly, stepping forward.
“Ah, Fair…” The cultivator took a stride to block her path again. Before he could finish, however, the stunningly beautiful woman shot him a cold glance.
That single glance froze him solid. A bone-chilling aura surged from his soles straight to his heart. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead. His outstretched hand involuntarily retracted. Uttering not a word, he rely stepped back, allowing her to pass.
Only after watching her disappear did the cultivator seem to co back to life, gasping for breath. Yet his eyes still held shock and fear as he pressed a hand to his chest. There, his heart pounded wildly, as if it might leap from his ribcage.
Terrifying… Who… who was that person?
Feng Jiu inquired on the street about the better inns in the city. She learned that a little further ahead, at a three-way intersection, there was a higher-end inn. It was rarely occupied, but its environnt and views were excellent.
So she made her way to that inn. As soon as she entered, a waiter greeted her warmly.
“Please co in, honored guest.” The waiter led Feng Jiu inside, wiping down a table that glead with polish before saying cheerfully, “Please take a seat and have so tea.”
After Feng Jiu sat down, the attendant smiled. “This is your first ti here, isn’t it? Our inn is quite renowned in the city. We have several excellent guest rooms upstairs. Shall I show you around?”
