“Please wait, young lady.” The middle-aged man, having regained his composure, hurried forward. Seeing her halt her steps, he bowed respectfully with clasped hands: “Your noble deed deserves this salute from Huangfu Xiao.”
Feng Jiu turned sideways, declining his salute, and replied, “You flatter . It was rely a coincidence.”

Feng Jiu remained silent, rely observing him.
Just as Huangfu Xiao prepared to speak again, a voice called out from behind him.
“Brother, are you all right?”
He turned to see the carriage that had been parked in the grove had sohow appeared on the main road. The curtain was lifted, revealing his fourth brother calling out to him. Inside the carriage, his father’s gaze was faintly visible, fixed upon them.
“Farewell,” Feng Jiu said, gathering her breath to mount her sword and depart.
Hearing her farewell, Huangfu Xiao turned to look, but only her figure was vanishing into the clouds. Before long, she was completely out of sight. He then hurried toward the carriage.
“Father,” he said upon entering the carriage, looking at his father. “I never imagined the one who extinguished that Yin evil was a young lady. It’s a pity I was just about to ask her about her master when I missed the chance.” He sighed. “That young lady might be an alchemist.”
He regretted missing such a pri opportunity to inquire. An alchemist capable of commanding celestial fire likely possessed formidable rank. Coupled with her profoundly unfathomable cultivation, his heart was filled with nothing but regret.

He signaled the driver to continue, just as a middle-aged cultivator erged from the ruined temple, muttering to himself. His face was dusty, his head completely bald, giving him a sowhat comical appearance.
“Uncle Master! You… you’re still alive?” A young man, seemingly returning from sowhere, shouted as he ran toward the middle-aged man.
The middle-aged cultivator suddenly broke into a silly grin, shoving him aside and walking onward by himself, muttering to himself as he went. The young man seed to freeze for a mont before hurrying after him. As for what they were saying… no one cared anymore…
Several days later, in an inn, Feng Jiu sat on the first floor, drinking wine in large gulps while listening to the hushed whispers of the patrons.
“Did you hear about last night’s incident?”
“Heard about it. They say several bases of so faction were wiped out. Now their people are investigating, and even the major clans and factions in the city are on alert. But no one knows who did it.”
“To wipe out those dens in a single night? That must’ve been a full squad, and definitely preditated.”
Feng Jiu took a sip of wine, summoned the waiter to settle the bill, then rose and headed outside.
She planned to rest today. Co tonight, she’d take out the remaining strongholds. She refused to believe she couldn’t find that person’s hiding place!
