Chapter 4966: Identity
“It’s nothing.”
Feng Jiu spoke, looking at him with a faint smile. “You guessed correctly. I am a doctor and also an alchemist. From that distant glance I caught of your father’s condition that day, it seems not so sudden illness, but rather a long-standing ailnt flaring up, draining his lifespan until it is nearly exhausted!”
Huangfu Xiao stared at her in shock, montarily speechless.
She had deduced his father’s condition rely from a distant glance days prior? Such skill was unprecedented. In recent years, he had taken his father to countless doctors and alchemists, yet never encountered anyone possessing such ability.
His emotions churned violently. His gaze fixed on her, his eyes reflecting not only shock but also speculation and confusion.
A person possessing such abilities could not be obscure. She had not introduced herself by na, but instead referred to herself by her husband’s surna.
Who exactly was this Lady Xuanyuan?
Seeing his stunned expression, Feng Jiu smiled. “I can cure your father’s chronic ailnt and extend his life. However, I need you to do sothing for in return.”
Huangfu Xiao suppressed his shock. He didn’t agree imdiately. Instead, his brow furrowed deeply as he asked gravely, “May I ask, Lady Xuanyuan, what do you require of ?”
Feng Jiu held her teacup, gently scraping the surface of the tea with the lid. Unhurriedly, she replied, “Spread the word that you’ve obtained a thousand-year-old Wu Ling Ginseng.”
“A thousand-year-old Wu Ling Ginseng? The legendary one said to possess miraculous powers—restoring flesh to bones, reviving the dead, and nurturing the soul?” he asked in astonishnt.
“Indeed.” Feng Jiu nodded, giving him an appreciative look. She hadn’t expected him to know of such a treasure.
Huangfu Xiao’s brow furrowed deeply as he asked, “What is Lady Xuanyuan intending to achieve? Setting aside the fact that my household possesses no such treasure, rely spreading this rumor could be enough to bring down a clan-wiping calamity upon the Huangfu family.”
Such a heavenly treasure possessed far more than just the power to resurrect the dead and restore flesh to bones. If word of it spread, the Huangfu family would never know peace again.
“I will not allow your Huangfu family to be embroiled in disaster,” Feng Jiu stated.
“No, Lady Xuanyuan, you do not grasp the gravity of this matter,” He shook his head. This matter wasn’t sothing she could resolve with a single word, nor would her assurance that it wouldn’t bring disaster upon the Huangfu clan truly prevent it.
Seeing his reaction, Feng Jiu rely smiled. “Just watch.”
Huangfu Xiao heard her words and was puzzled by their aning. A wisp of spiritual energy surged from her body, and between her brows, a blue lotus with fla-like patterns slowly materialized.
“Th-this…”
His eyes widened in shock, his usual composure and calmness vanishing in an instant. Gazing at the azure lotus with fiery patterns between her brows, a tidal wave of dread surged within him. His thoughts imdiately turned to the Sovereign Phoenix, the sovereign of their realm…
“Thud!”
His legs buckled involuntarily, forcing him to his knees. His mouth opened, and he stamred out, “So… So… Sovereign Phoenix!”
Feng Jiu had no intention of revealing her identity. Yet, unless she did, Huangfu Xiao would never believe she possessed the power to protect his Huangfu clan without worry. Thus, she allowed the Blue Lotus Seal to manifest upon her brow, displaying the emblem of her status.
“Do you believe now?” she asked, suppressing her aura and concealing the lotus upon her forehead.
