Hearing this, Lady Song couldn’t help but smile, her expression filled with indulgent resignation: " Mi’er has caused quite a bit of worry. After she left ho not long ago, she didn’t even send a single letter back. I was so anxious at ho. Thankfully, she managed to make friends like Lady Xuanyuan while away. She told that Lady Xuanyuan took great care of her during her travels. Now that she’s co ho, she must stay for a while longer so we can properly fulfill our duties as hosts."
"Actually, she was the one who took care of more while we were out, especially with her exceptional culinary skills," Feng Jiu said with a smile.
"Our family has a long tradition of culinary arts. All the children in our household are quite skilled in the kitchen. When Mi’er returned recently, she brought three friends she’d t out there. They stayed here for a few days and all gained quite a bit of weight."
Lady Song thought of Yun Qi, one of those three children—plump and adorable with her round little fra—and her smile deepened involuntarily.
Hearing this, Feng Jiu’s eyes flickered slightly. "You an Yun Chen and the others, right? We ca here together, but I had to leave early for so business. We agreed I’d co back to pick them up once I was done."
"Lady Xuanyuan knows them too?" Lady Song asked in surprise. "Mi’er never ntioned it to . But then, she probably didn’t expect Lady Xuanyuan to finish her business so quickly. Just a few days ago, Mi’er and Yun Qi, along with her father and three brothers, left to explore the forest for new ingredients. They’ll likely be gone about a month."
As she spoke, she retrieved a thick bundle of letters and handed it over. "Mi’er asked to give this to you. Lady Xuanyuan, please stay at the estate for now. It will be nice to have company."
Feng Jiu accepted the letter, opened it, and discovered it wasn’t written by Mi’er but by the three children. They mainly recounted their experiences at the Song family’s residence these past days. They also ntioned that their journey out was intended to gain so experience, urging her to wait for their return at the Song residence and not to leave them behind.
A smile touched Feng Jiu’s lips. She folded the letter carefully, tucked it away into her cosmos sack, then turned to Lady Song with a smile. "Then I shall be staying for the ti being."
"Not at all!"
Lady Song smiled. "After Mi’er ntioned you were coming, I had a courtyard prepared for you. Let show you around! I’ll also take you on a tour of the estate. The flowers in my garden are in full bloom right now—perfect for admiring."
Feng Jiu agreed cheerfully, following her out of the hall toward the rear courtyard, taking the opportunity to familiarize herself with the Song residence...
After touring the Song residence, they visited the guest quarters. Yet in the end, Feng Jiu didn’t choose to stay in the courtyard prepared by Lady Song. Instead, she settled into the courtyard where Yue’er lived.
That day, Lady Song accompanied her until dusk before departing. After Lady Song left, Feng Jiu had servants prepare a bath, soaked in the warm water, changed into fresh clothes, and then entered her spatial pocket.
Since the three children had gone off to train, she would wait here for their return. She might as well use this free ti to see if any dicinal herbs or dicinal pills needed refining and prepare them while she had the chance.
The next morning, Lady Song arrived at Feng Jiu’s courtyard. After having breakfast served, she learned from the maidservant that Lady Xuanyuan hadn’t risen yet, so she waited in the courtyard.
