Mi’er shielded the three of them as they retreated. Seeing their eyes fixed on her father ahead, she smiled and said, "My father is incredibly powerful. His blade technique alone puts my brothers to sha."
Just as she spoke, Hao’er and the others watched as Song Lingbo, facing the Scarlet Earth Tiger, swung a blade in a spinning arc straight at the beast. The blade in his hand was about three fingers wide, gleaming with a sharp, black luster. As he swung, the aura of the blade’s energy burst forth, striking directly at the tiger’s vital points.
The Scarlet Earth Tiger was robust and powerful, a peak-tier fierce beast with formidable combat prowess. As their one-on-one battle comnced, the scent of blood quickly filled the air.
"Roooooar!"
"Whoosh! Whoosh!"
The roar of the blade’s aura and the Scarlet Earth Tiger’s bellow echoed intermittently. The onlookers stepped back, watching as trees around them snapped—whether from the tiger’s charge or the blade’s force—crashing down in a chaotic tangle that partially obscured the figure of man and beast.
"Thud!"
After about half an incense stick’s worth of ti, a thunderous crash echoed, followed by a return to silence.
Everyone watched as Song Lingbo erged, one hand gripping his blade and the other dragging the slain Scarlet Earth Tiger. With effortless ease, he hauled the beast, weighing hundreds of pounds, before the crowd.
"Mi’er, how about I skin this Scarlet Earth Tiger and make you a rug?" Song Lingbo asked with a smile, looking at his youngest daughter.
"No need, no need! I don’t need it now. Father, give it to my brothers!" Song Mi’er waved her hands hurriedly.
"Fine, if you don’t want it, I’ll skin it and send it to your Mother."
Song Lingbo glanced at his three sons. "If you want to hunt one yourselves, go ahead. It’s just a Scarlet Earth Tiger—you’re perfectly capable."
The three Song brothers twitched their lips at their father’s blatant favoritism. They were used to it—since childhood, they’d had to fight for what they wanted, while their sister got whatever she desired effortlessly. That was the difference between sons and daughters!
"Don’t just stand around. Stay in this area for the next couple days. You can explore around." Song Lingbo looked at Hao’er and the others. "You three co along too! Don’t wander too far. Stay safe."
These past days had truly made him reevaluate these three youngsters. Though young, they were no pushovers. Their skills were more than sufficient to handle fierce beasts. Back when his own children were their age, they’d still be trailing after him, whining and crying!
Truly, comparing people to people is like comparing the living to the dead. One wonders, whose children are these three? How could they be so accomplished at such a young age?
"Father, I’ll take them to explore nearby. I won’t follow Brother and the others." Song Mi’er said cheerfully, waving at them before swiftly leading Hao’er and the other two away.
"You two follow and protect them. Don’t let anything happen to them," Song Lingbo instructed the two Jingwei.
"Yes, Master." The two guards responded. Though they doubted the children needed their protection, they swiftly followed.
"Father, we’ll explore nearby too," the three Song brothers declared, each taking a child and departing.
After they left, Song Lingbo personally began stripping the tiger’s pelt, preparing to bring it ho as a gift for his lady...
