"I didn’t expect their reflexes to be this sharp." One of the guards watched the scene unfold ahead and couldn’t help but sigh softly.
"Their courage is extraordinary too."
Another chid in, observing how the two youngsters struck with ruthless precision and not a mont’s hesitation. Around the great tree, monkey corpses lay scattered haphazardly on the ground, blood splattered and thick in the air.
"That fierce beast we ate yesterday—I heard from Miss Mi’er that they hunted it down."
"Wow, impressive, truly impressive! No wonder the Master agreed to bring them into the forest. Though, I doubt even he knew they possessed such skills beforehand?"
"Indeed, he didn’t. They originally followed Miss Mi’er back."
"Huh? Look!" As they spoke, one of them suddenly widened his eyes upon seeing Yun Qi ahead sheathe his dagger and switch to a whip.
"What is it?" The other guard ollowed his gaze, landing on the whip Yun Qi was cracking. With a single lash, the monkey let out a shriek and bolted, head in its paws, clearly terrified of the whip.
"Her whip handling is quite nimble. These monkeys probably fear whips the most," one guard remarked, a hint of amusent flickering across his face.
The other rolled his eyes at this. "Who asked you to watch her technique? I told you to look at the whip itself—look at that whip..."
"The whip?"
The nearby guard glanced at the whip in Yun Qi’s hand. "Looks like a decent magical artifact. But I don’t use whips myself, so I’m not too familiar with them. What’s up with this whip? Is there sothing wrong with it?"
"If I’m not mistaken, this whip is the Ancient Divine Whip. I’ve heard it was bestowed by the Azure Emperor upon his young disciple, Yun Qi, as a ans of self-defense. He even issued a decree of death, declaring that anyone who dares covet this Divine Whip shall face the annihilation of their entire clan!" The guard spoke, his eyes flickering with a hint of excitent.
He never imagined he’d see the Ancient Divine Whip. He’d only ever encountered it in the Weapon Compendium, never expecting to behold the real thing. If this whip was genuine, then their identities...
Suddenly, it all clicked into place. Why would their master personally lead them into the forest? Could it be he already knew their true identities? No wonder—how could Miss Mi’er bring back people without informing her parents?
"Ah? Then... then they’re the Azur..." The guard beside him gasped, his words cut off as a hand clamped over his mouth.
"Good. Keep it to yourself," he hurriedly added, scanning the surroundings. Seeing no one nearby, he exhaled softly.
"Master knew too?" the guard asked.
"Of course he knew. But since Master didn’t speak of it, we must keep it sealed tight—never utter a word." The other man spoke, glancing ahead and pausing in surprise.
In just that brief mont, only a dozen Golden Silk Monkeys remained.
"Squeak! Squeak!"
The remaining dozen Golden Silk Monkeys shrieked in panic, abandoning the fight altogether. They fled swiftly, vanishing into the forest within re breaths.
"Senior Brother, what about the monkey king?" Yue’er asked Hao’er as he returned.
"I killed him."
He opened his palm, revealing a crystal core: "This is for you. Let’s look around—these monkeys must have hidden sothing here."
