Cheng Wanshan, missing a leg, lay sprawled on the ground, his face deathly pale as he scread in terror and horror. He struggled desperately to escape, but a majestic Sacred Beast lay astride him, licking the blood from its mouth with its tongue. The beast’s imnse weight pinned him down, rendering him utterly helpless.
Not far away, a severed leg lay in a pool of blood, discarded by the beast. Those nearby watched the scene in horror, none daring to approach.
Beside them, the little girl observed the spectacle. Her eyes crinkled with amusent, showing no trace of fear—only excitent and anticipation.
The Old Predecessor of the Cheng family, who had seen much in his life, was utterly stunned by the scene that greeted him upon his hurried return.
"What... what on earth is going on?"
"Aunty!" Yue’er’s face lit up with joy the mont she spotted her mother. Calling out in a soft, sweet voice, she scampered toward her. Out in the world, they couldn’t call her mother "Mother," only "Aunty."
Feng Jiu watched the little girl run over, smiling as she reached out to scoop her up. "What brings you here?"
Yue’er clung to her neck and explained, "That bad man climbed through the window and kidnapped . After dragging here, he tried to tie up, so I summoned my contract beast to bite him."
"Arghhhhh! Old Predecessor, Old Predecessor, save ..."
In that instant, Cheng Wanshan’s arm was torn clean off the ground. The brutal, bloody scene of flesh being ripped away sent chills down the spines of the Cheng family mbers watching.
The Cheng family Old Predecessor couldn’t understand why Cheng Wanshan, a man of considerable strength, had offered no resistance to this Sacred Beast’s attack.
Feng Jiu glanced at Cheng Wanshan, then raised an eyebrow at the little girl in her arms. "Did you drug him?"
"Hehe, just a little bit."
She held up her little finger to asure. Who knew he’d get the evil idea to capture her? Since he wanted to grab her, she might as well join in the fun. After all, Mother was preparing to deal with the Cheng family. Even if she let the lion tear him apart, Mother probably wouldn’t bla her.
"Snap!"
"Ah..."
A sharp crack echoed, followed by another piercing scream. Everyone looked over to see the lion had snapped Cheng Wanshan’s neck. Yet, the instant his scream echoed, his soul fled the body. The corpse on the ground instantly beca lifeless. A streak of light shot out from the body, hurtling toward Hao’er and Muchen without a mont’s hesitation.
He thought: If his soul escaped and found a new host body, he could still live. If that body belonged to one of these two boys, even this woman wouldn’t dare harm him!
But he had overestimated his speed.
"You’re asking for death!"
Feng Jiu’s voice rang out, cool and laced with icy intent. Almost the instant her words left her lips, a ball of fla shot from her hand, whooshing out to envelop the fleeing soul.
"Sssh! Ah! No... I don’t want to die... No... Old Predecessor, Old Predecessor, save ..."
A shrill, frantic scream pierced the air. The soul, trapped within the flas, writhed and scread in agony. Yet, as the flas consud it, not only did the soul perish, but it too was reduced to ashes, vanishing into thin air...
