Hearing this, Feng Jiu smiled faintly. “I know. I understand exactly what I’m doing.”
Seeing this, the Azure Emperor said no more. After bidding her farewell, he departed with the three children.
Watching their figures vanish into the depths of the clouds on the horizon, Feng Jiu finally withdrew her gaze and turned back.
“Master, will they return?” Mi’er approached as she ca back and asked.
“This is their ho. Of course they’ll return soday. But who knows how many years that ‘soday’ might be?” She smiled faintly, shook her head, and said no more. Turning, she headed back to her quarters, preparing to retreat into seclusion once more.
Half a Year Later
On an island, the Azure Emperor stood with his hands behind his back, watching the sun rise over the eastern sea. “Are you ready?” he asked.
Beside him stood Muchen, clad in a form-fitting black robe. Over the past six months, he had grown nearly half a head taller. Though still young, he stood perfectly straight, his small face taut, his gaze radiating unwavering determination and a sense of inevitable victory.
“I am ready!”
He declared, his voice solemn and clear.
Not far behind them, Hao’er and Yue’er stood watching, keeping their distance.
The Azure Emperor listened, then turned his head slightly to look at Muchen. “How many tis have you descended into the sea? And how many tis have you grasped the sword?”
“Master, this is my ninety-ninth ti entering the sea! I’ve grasped the sword eleven tis, yet failed to draw it each ti. But this ti, I will pull it out!” Muchen’s voice carried unwavering resolve as his gaze fixed on the vast ocean ahead. His mind held but one thought: this ti, he would draw the ancient divine sword, Dragon Abyss!
Half a year ago, his master had led them away from the Immortal Island to this place. He had told Muchen that a sword was embedded within these seas—an ancient divine blade nad Dragon Abyss—and commanded him to pull it out.
Over these six months, he had dived into the sea ninety-nine tis. Of those ninety-nine attempts, only eleven had allowed him to grasp the sword. The rest ended either in forced ascent due to unbearable pressure upon descending, or in failure to locate the sword’s position.
And on those eleven occasions when he found the sword’s location and grasped it, he still couldn’t pull it free.
But this ti was different. This ti, he believed he could do it!
“This is your final attempt. If you fail to draw the sword now, you lose your chance forever.” The Azure Emperor gazed out at the vast sea ahead and declared, “Go!”
“Yes!” Muchen pressed his lips together, gathered his breath, and soared into the air toward the ocean surface. After gliding a considerable distance, he took a deep breath and plunged headfirst into the sea.
Watching him enter the sea, Yue’er, standing nearby, asked with concern, “Senior Brother, can Second Senior Brother pull out that sword?”
“He absolutely can!” His gaze fixed on the sea ahead, his heart filled with conviction that Muchen would pull out that sword!
Hearing his words, Yue’er said nothing, only waiting quietly, watching…
Further away, so cultivators spotted the boy heading back into the sea and chuckled. “Look, that kid’s going into the water again. How many tis has this happened? What do you think he’s after?”
“Maybe there’s so treasure in the sea!”
“Ha ha ha! As if! If there was anything, it would’ve been scooped up long ago.”
