Sunlight spilled across her face, casting shadows beneath her thick lashes. Her serene, beautiful sleeping features radiated complete trust, making him yearn to lean down and kiss those delicate, rosy lips.
But the mont he stirred, she awoke.
"Ah Ze?" Feng Jiu instinctively leapt upright. When she saw the sleeping figure now gazing at her with deep, dark eyes—eyes filled with a tender, affectionate smile—she froze, her mind montarily blank, as if unable to process what she saw.
"Have you gone dumb with happiness?"
Xuanyuan Mo Ze spoke, his deep voice carrying a hoarseness and a hint of playful amusent. Perhaps from sleeping too long, his throat felt dry upon waking, his voice raspy.
Feng Jiu felt a lump rise in her throat. Gazing at his smiling features, she fought back the tears threatening to spill over, then threw herself onto the bed and clung tightly to him.
"Mo Ze! You’re finally awake! I missed you so much..."
Hearing her voice thick with nasal congestion, Xuanyuan Mo Ze’s heart lted into a soft, tender mass. A wave of heartache and self-reproach washed over him. His arms wrapped around her, one hand gently stroking her head as he murmured, "It’s my fault. I made you worry."
"As long as you’re awake, that’s all that matters." Feng Jiu murmured, then suddenly sat up on the bedside, her voice tinged with concern. "Do you feel any discomfort anywhere?"
Xuanyuan Mo Ze paused briefly before replying, "I only feel as if a new power has entered my body, and my soul feels significantly stronger."
As he spoke, he sat up. He felt exactly as he had before—no injuries, nothing amiss. On the contrary, he sensed his power had grown, his spirit soul significantly strengthened.
Just as he prepared to scan his body with his divine sense, Feng Jiu suddenly stepped forward and pulled open his shirt, revealing his strong, muscular chest.
His eyes flickered, eyebrows arching slightly as he eyed her with playful amusent. "What are you looking for? Just ask, and I’ll strip naked for you."
Feng Jiu had no ti for banter. After pulling his clothes aside, her eyes widened in shock when she saw the black lotus on his solid chest had vanished. She frantically searched his body.
"Where did it go? How could it vanish?"
Watching her tug at his clothes, shifting her gaze between his chest, the back he revealed when he pulled his shirt down, and his arms, as if searching for sothing.
Xuanyuan Mo Ze chuckled at the sight. "What are you looking for? What’s on my body? What’s missing?"
"The black lotus—the ancient black lotus. It was right here on your chest, but now it’s gone." Feng Jiu looked up at him. "Use your divine soul to search. You should be able to find where that black lotus has hidden. It’s imprinted on your divine soul—it can’t have gone far."
Xuanyuan Mo Ze’s expression shifted with surprise. "Black lotus? You an that one from back then?"
"Yes. It’s a long story. First, see if it’s still there. I’ll explain everything later." Feng Jiu took his hand, her gaze filled with concern.
After slumbering for so many years, he had awakened, yet the black lotus that had once resided in his chest was gone. To say she wasn’t worried would be impossible. The existence of that black lotus was like a latent danger within his body. No one knew what might happen when that danger erupted.
