This ti, Feng Jiu brought only Du Fan, Leng Hua, and Leng Shuang with her. The others remained behind. The eight Phoenix Guards, including Qi Kang, were to stay and guard the place, so they couldn’t accompany her.
Qin Xin and Fan Lin were the unspoken couple among them, so naturally she couldn’t take her to the Upper Immortal Realm. As for Bai Qingcheng and Ye Feifei, she felt that given their strength and cultivation, it would be better for them to stay below for now. Besides, she harbored a personal hope that they would spend more ti with Qi Kang and the others. If they ever hit it off, perhaps they could form a couple.
As for Feng Ye and Zhao Yang, she intended to bring them to the Upper Immortal Realm. She only wondered whether her grandfather and the others at ho would consent. Thus, she had them accompany her on the journey, and her brother, Guan Xilin, naturally returned with them as well.
The remaining group watched their departure with sowhat subdued spirits. Bai Qingcheng and Ye Feifei felt particularly low, as they too wished to stay by their master’s side, yet she had chosen to leave them behind.
Even so, they unconditionally obeyed their master’s decision, acting only upon her command.
This ti, upon returning, they first visited Xuanyuan Mozhe’s father before heading straight to the Feng family’s ancestral ho. Under normal circumstances, traveling by flying sword or airship would have taken at least half a month.
This ti, however, with Feng Jiu’s presence, they reached the Feng family ancestral ho in just a few days.
Not wanting to cause too much commotion or alarm the city’s inhabitants, they waited until nightfall before quietly approaching the Feng residence.
"Ah Jiu, what do you think? Should we just climb over the wall, or knock on the door?" Feng Ye asked with a playful smile, his almond-shaped eyes fixed on Feng Jiu beside him.
Feng Jiu shot him a glance. "Climbing over the wall to get into our own ho? Knock on the door."
"Right, right, right." Feng Ye agreed, about to step forward to knock, when he suddenly froze.
Suddenly, a flapping sound ca from the wall surrounding the Feng residence’s gate, as if sothing had leaped up. In the night’s darkness, Feng Ye squinted and saw a green-feathered chicken flapping its wings, stretching its long neck, and glaring at Feng Jiu with its beady eyes. The next mont, a shrill cry pierced the air.
"Ah! Master’s back! Master’s back! Am I seeing right? Master actually returned!" The shrill voice carried excitent and delight. Perched on the wall, it clucked and flapped its wings.
"Green Feather?"
Feng Jiu froze, staring at the plump green-feathered chicken. He realized it wasn’t just fatter—it had grown considerably larger.
"Ah! Master called ! Master called ! I almost forgot I had a master like this!" Green Feather flapped excitedly against the wall. Just as Feng Jiu thought it might dive down, it turned and leaped into the inner courtyard. The faint sound of its running footsteps and shrieks could still be heard.
"Master’s Mother! Master’s Father! Master’s Grandfather! My master, Green Feather’s master, is back! Back! Co see!"
Listening to the commotion inside, Feng Jiu’s lips twitched. This ti, no need for an announcent—probably everyone in the household already knew she’d returned.
"Who is it in the middle of the night?"
The gatekeeper’s voice ca from inside, still thick with sleepiness—likely roused by Green Feather’s commotion or the noise outside.
He opened a small square peephole at the bottom of the gate and peered out. The mont he saw the figure outside, all drowsiness vanished. He hurriedly swung the gate open.
