"After I returned, I never ventured out again. Master kept us training deep within the mountains. The three of us only erged from seclusion yesterday." Yue'er spoke, her eyes flickering slightly. She added, "Oh, and I heard from Master that another Great Emperor has ascended. He'll be sending out invitations far and wide. Master will take the three of us along to join the festivities and broaden our horizons. Will you be attending, Big Brother Xiao?"
"You an the celebration for Hell's Lord, the husband of the Phoenix Empress? I haven't received word from my clan yet, so I can't say for sure if I'll attend." Xiao Junyan replied, knowing such a celebratory banquet wasn't sothing just anyone could attend.
Even for their own Xiao family, visiting another Great Emperor's Immortal Island required sending an invitation first. Since he hadn't returned ho, naturally he wouldn't have received one.
Hao'er and Muchen sipped their tea, listening to the two n talk without joining in. In their minds, they wondered when their Master would take them there.
As the two chatted, Xiao Junyan noticed she wore nothing in her hair. He retrieved a box from his spatial storage and offered it to her. "I bought this along the way. It's a gift for you."
"Ah? You brought a gift?"
Yue'er looked at him in mild surprise. After a mont's hesitation, she accepted the box he offered. Opening it, she saw two exquisite pearl flowers resting quietly inside. The petals were woven from tiny pearls, each one shimring with a beautiful luster.
"So beautiful! Thank you, Big Brother Xiao!" Yue'er said gratefully with a beaming smile.
At that mont, seeing her accept Xiao Junyan's gift, Hao'er spoke up to remind her: "Junior Sister, you're a girl. You shouldn't casually
accept gifts from others, especially from n."
"Yeah, you shouldn't take things from others. What do you want? What do you like? Senior Brother can buy it for you," Muchen chid in, his implication clear-he didn't want her accepting gifts from outsiders.
"It's just two pearl flowers, nothing valuable. It's fine," Xiao Junyan said, glancing at the two of them. He felt an inexplicable sense that they harbored so hostility toward him.
And this feeling was quite peculiar.
Yue'er looked at her two brothers, then at Xiao Junyan. After a mont's thought, she pushed the box back. "My Senior Brothers says I shouldn't accept it! I'd better not take it then!"
Watching the pearl flowers pushed back, Xiao Junyan glanced at the two brothers, tugging slightly at the corner of his mouth. "Speaking of which, I still don't know the nas of your families?"
"Are you two done talking? If so, we'll head back first," Muchen said, looking at his younger sister.
"Let's eat first!" Xiao Junyan said, serving her so dishes into her bowl.
"Mm-hmm, Senior Brother, we should at least finish our al before leaving, right? Here, Senior Brother, have this." Yue'er bead as she placed a piece of at into his bowl, then served one for Hao'er too. Seeing this, the two brothers said no more. They simply stayed and finished the al with her. After settling the bill, they turned back.
Junyan walked her all the way to the foot of the mountain before saying, "Here, take my communication jade token. Keep it. If anything cos up in the future, we can contact each other."
"Alright." Yue'er agreed, then handed him hers: "This is mine."
"Mhm. You should head back with your Senior Brothers. We'll et again when the ti cos." Xiao Junyan said, a faint smile touching
his lips as he tucked her jade communication token away.
