"Thank you, Big Brother Xiao," Yue’er said with a bright smile.
Xiao Junyan chuckled. Seeing the waiter bring out the dishes one after another, he said, "Let’s eat first. We’ll talk after we’re done."
"Alright." Yue’er agreed, her eyes lighting up at the sight of the dishes. Though she’d cooked for her master on the mountain over the years, her skills weren’t particularly strong. Especially after growing accustod to Sister Mi’er’s cooking, her own dishes now seed rather bland.
Now, faced with this table overflowing with visually appealing, fragrant, and delicious dishes, her stomach—which hadn’t felt hungry monts ago—began to rumble loudly.
"Here, eat more."
Xiao Junyan helped her serve food, saying, "I received news from the clan while traveling here, asking to handle so matters. Little Qi, co with first. Once I’ve taken care of business, we’ll continue our travels."
"Alright!" She nodded in agreent, continuing to eat without telling him that her master had given her a Qiankun Teleportation Compass. To her, every place offered opportunities for growth. Having not ventured down the mountain for years, accompanying him to explore was a welco change.
After their al, they lingered little in the city before departing on swords, heading in another direction.
Several days later, Yun Qi followed Xiao Junyan to a city gate. She looked up at the three large characters inscribed above it: Mountain Vista City.
After entering the city, Yue’er looked around and said, "Big Brother Xiao, you should go handle matters with your Xiao family’s collateral branches first. I want to explore the city."
Hearing this, Xiao Junyan glanced at her and nodded. "Alright. If you get tired, co find at the Xiao family residence in the south of the city."
"Alright." Yue’er responded with a beaming smile. Watching him depart, she then set off with light, cheerful steps toward the city center.
Having lived in the mountains for years, the sight of this bustling cityscape filled her with excitent. Street vendors’ shouts echoed along the lanes, trinkets displayed in the narrow alleys, and crowds of people ca and went, creating a lively atmosphere.
"One string of candied hawthorn for ," she said, approaching the stall selling candied hawthorn. She gazed at the bright red skewers before her, her eyes sparkling.
"Sure thing, miss. Here you go."
The vendor plucked a skewer and handed it over. She handed him a silver coin. Just as he was about to give her change, she had already walked away. He couldn’t help but smile, then called out loudly again: "Candied hawthorn! Sweet and sour candied hawthorn..."
Yue’er wandered the streets, circling around and buying many snacks to stow in her spatial pouch. Passing a teahouse, she noticed a crowd gathered inside, occasional cheers drifting out. Curiosity piqued, she peered inside.
"Would you like to co in for tea and a story, miss?" The waiter at the entrance, noticing her curious gaze, called out, "We’re one of the top teahouses in town. Not only are our snacks delicious, but our storytelling is superb. Why not co in and take a seat?"
"Sounds good!" Yue’er agreed. Seeing the crowd inside, she added, "Find a spot with a good view, but not too crowded."
"Easy enough, miss. Head upstairs—the view’s even better up there." The waiter’s eyes crinkled into slits as he grinned, eagerly leading her to a spot on the second floor and helping her settle in.
"Miss, we have this year’s finest Spirit Tea. Would you like to try so?" the waiter inquired while wiping the clean, gleaming tabletop.
"Sure, pour a pot." Yue’er said, her gaze drifting toward the middle-aged storyteller performing on the stage downstairs.
