Now reading: Chapter 585 - 585 329 Vermilion Bird4 from Mighty Lord, a Game novel by Maestro.

585: Chapter 329: Vermilion Bird_4 585: Chapter 329: Vermilion Bird_4 As soon as the Ti Domain was activated, the actions of those NPCs at that mont slowed down considerably.

In that context, Zhou Tian and the Bearman at the city gates launched a simultaneous attack against those NPCs.

The NPC group at that ti had no chance of withstanding such an assault.

As expected, under the pincer attack, the NPCs who had been resisting were eventually shattered by Zhou Tian and his Bearman army.

Once scattered, those NPCs could not possibly stop the Bearman from entering the city.

And so, countless Bearman rushed directly into the sacred city through the path Zhou Tian had opened.

The NPCs inside the sacred city were not oblivious to Zhou Tian’s actions; they had considered intercepting Zhou Tian and his forces.

However, no matter how dissatisfied they were with Zhou Tian’s actions, those NPCs had to possess the corresponding abilities to act upon it!

Given that those NPCs had no strength to fight Zhou Tian, they were destined for defeat when the monster army marched into the city.

No matter how hard those NPCs struggled, they could only watch as their hitherto unconquered sacred city was steadily destroyed by the monster hoard.

Nurous buildings were occupied, and countless resources and weapons were taken out of the city by the monsters.

Given the situation, it was only a matter of ti before the city would fall.

After things had reached this point, the NPCs knew that they were powerless to turn the tide and were considering how to inflict the greatest loss on Zhou Tian through their last counterattack.

Clearly, although the city has never been conquered, the NPCs must have taken into account similar scenarios when building the city.

Seeing Zhou Tian successfully seizing their sacred city, they rushed to play their last hand.

Zhou Tian didn’t expect that just when he was about to take over the city and claim the NPCs’ achievents as his own, the city suddenly ignited.

Usually, cities wouldn’t spontaneously combust for no reason, even if Zhou Tian’s target was the Vermilion Bird City amongst the Five Sacred Cities.

Given the circumstances, it was needless to say that the city’s self-immolation was more than likely the work of the NPCs, who obviously didn’t want Zhou Tian profiting from seizing the city.

Zhou Tian was quite displeased with this situation.

However, despite his discomfort, Zhou Tian had no choice but to order a retreat in the face of the NPCs’ actions.

Even though the NPCs’ actions weren’t detrintal enough to obliterate Zhou Tian’s Bearman army, their determination was already apparent.

Zhou Tian couldn’t guarantee that there wouldn’t be additional hazards should he keep his Bearman army within the city.

Having captured the Vermilion Bird City, he didn’t need to worry too much about other matters.

Consequently, under Zhou Tian’s command, after abandoning significant gains, the Bearman army just managed to retreat from the city before it was completely ignited.

Initially, Zhou Tian thought the situation would end there once the city was taken.

However, in reality, the situation didn’t end – quite the contrary.

The ignition of the Vermilion Bird City was just the beginning, and the NPCs’ final tactics were far from the ‘gentle’ scenario Zhou Tian had imagined.

Zhou Tian initially wanted to leave since the city was already ablaze and the fires wouldn’t possibly leave anything behind, but when things changed unexpectedly on the previously quiet battlefield, he reconsidered.

“Caw!” A cry suddenly resonated.

When Zhou Tian turned towards the sound, what he saw drastically changed his countenance.

Although he knew that he was assaulting the Vermilion Bird City, Zhou Tian never imagined it had any connection with an actual Vermilion Bird.

But now, as he was preparing to leave, a giant bird erged from the city that was already fully ablaze.

As large as a dragon and engulfed in flas, the creature was recognisable as none other than the Vermilion Bird or Phoenix.

The sight naturally gave rise to such thoughts in Zhou Tian’s mind.

The ergence of a Vermilion Bird from a city presud to have been destroyed did not bode well for Zhou Tian.

At the very least, Zhou Tian couldn’t help but change his expression when he saw the bird, and without any hesitation, he imdiately ordered his Bearman army to retreat once more.
