"Sister Lan, see? I wasn’t lying. She really was on a date with a man. And that ugly, short guy was on his knees proposing! I almost threw up," Zhang Bin said to Liu Ruolan with a shrug.
Trembling with anger, Liu Ruoi looked at Liu Ruolan’s wry expression and said, "Sis, you be the judge. Is Bo Chengye really ugly and short?"
Liu Ruolan and Liu Ruoi were twin sisters. They had gone to school together from elentary through high school, always in the sa grade, just occasionally in different classes. So naturally, Liu Ruolan also knew Bo Chengye. He was, after all, their high school classmate.
Liu Ruolan smiled. "Bo Chengye isn’t ugly or short. On the contrary, he’s very handso. You could even call him a pretty boy."
Liu Ruoi shot Zhang Bin a triumphant look. "And Sis, isn’t Bo Chengye also incredibly knowledgeable, talented, and a promising young man?"
"Bo Chengye is definitely talented and promising. Even I admire him a lot," Liu Ruolan said with a smile.
Liu Ruoi grew even more smug. She looked at Zhang Bin with disdain and said, "You hear that? I wasn’t lying. You couldn’t hold a candle to Bo Chengye, yet you have the nerve to call him ugly and short?"
"That shorty? I’m telling you, I may be just a little farr, but Bo Chengye couldn’t catch up to even on a high-speed train," Zhang Bin said arrogantly.
"You couldn’t catch up to him in a plane!" Liu Ruolan shot back furiously.
"He couldn’t catch if he rode a missile," Zhang Bin said, jutting out his chin.
"You couldn’t catch him in a rocket!" Liu Ruoi retorted.
"He couldn’t catch if he rode a bolt of lightning," Zhang Bin declared.
"Lightning travels at the speed of light—three hundred thousand kiloters per second! How could he possibly not catch up to you?" Liu Ruoi sneered, seizing the flaw in his argunt.
"Because with a ZAP, he’d be fried to a crisp by that lightning. How’s he supposed to catch then?" Zhang Bin said smugly.
Listening from the sidelines, Liu Ruolan burst into laughter, practically doubling over.
Liu Ruoi, on the other hand, was fuming. I can’t even beat him in an argunt? I don’t believe it!
Rolling up her sleeves, she said with fighting spirit, "Talk is cheap. Why don’t we put it to the test? Do you dare compete against him?"
"Compete? Is there a need? I’d rather not crush him. We’re not even on the sa level, alright?" Zhang Bin said, bluffing.
"You two continue. I’m going to sleep; today was exhausting." Liu Ruolan smiled, then turned and went back to her room to rest. She understood now that this was all just a misunderstanding, nothing serious. As such, she had no interest in listening to them bicker any longer.
The mont Liu Ruolan left, Zhang Bin and Liu Ruoi were back at it, facing off in the living room like a pair of fighting cocks, ready to continue their verbal spar.
"You’re scared, aren’t you? You don’t dare," Liu Ruoi said contemptuously.
"Scared? What’s there to be scared of?" Zhang Bin, easily provoked, said proudly. "You just na the challenge. I’ll show you how I’ll crush him!"
"Fine. On his behalf, I challenge you to an English competition. The ti is three days from now. Do you dare? If not, stay out of my business. And you have to apologize to Bo Chengye!" Liu Ruoi said.
"You want , a little farr, to compete against him in English? Why don’t you have him compete against in a fistfight?" Zhang Bin said, exasperated.
"So, you’re saying you don’t dare compete with him in English? You admit defeat?" Liu Ruoi pressed.
"Is knowing English such a big deal? Let tell you, I can speak an alien language..." As he spoke, Zhang Bin let loose a string of the Xuanwu Star language, the words popping out as fast as firecrackers.
"If you can speak an alien language, then why won’t you compete in English?" Of course, Liu Ruoi didn’t believe for a second it was an alien language. She relentlessly mocked him, fueled by all her pent-up anger from the day. After all, I spent three hours collapsed on the floor of that stinking bathroom! If I don’t teach him a harsh lesson now, he’ll just get worse!
"Scared? What’s there to be scared of?" Zhang Bin said. "But let’s talk about sothing else. Like why you broke your promise. You agreed that you wouldn’t get all lovey-dovey with any man before I got married, but today you went on a date."
Liu Ruoi fell right into his trap. She said furiously, "You were the one who broke your promise first! I’m not done with you!"
Zhang Bin said, his voice full of heartache, "But you shouldn’t degrade yourself like that, actually going on a date with a man... especially one so ugly and short."
"You bastard! Who are you calling ugly and short? Do you dare to compete with him in English?" Liu Ruoi shot back. "If you don’t, then shut your mouth!"
I really don’t want to see her dating that disgusting guy. The thought spurred Zhang Bin on. He seized the opportunity and said, "If I beat him, you have to cut off all contact with him. And you’re not allowed to date any man other than . Deal?"
"And if you lose?" Liu Ruoi asked, overjoyed and excited.
"I’ll be at your rcy," Zhang Bin said.
"If you lose, you can only be intimate with my sister once a week, and only with my permission. Furthermore, you are forbidden from ddling in my affairs. Deal?" Liu Ruoi said. She knew perfectly well that an untrustworthy bastard like Zhang Bin would never obey an outright ban. It was better to have the situation under her control. Besides, she was too embarrassed to tell Liu Ruolan about her own intense reactions. It would be too awkward and might even traumatize her sister, ruining her happiness.
"Why do I need your permission?" Zhang Bin asked, startled.
"Because I can make preparations, like getting drunk or taking so sleeping pills," Liu Ruoi said. "That way, I won’t feel anything."
"Smart." Zhang Bin’s eyes lit up. That’s a great idea. Gao Si still hasn’t found that mind-link training thod, so I have to have a backup plan. If I win the bet, Liu Ruoi won’t date that ugly, short guy or any other man. And in the future, I can just give her a heads-up before I get intimate with Liu Ruolan so she can prepare. That should pretty much solve the problem.
"So it’s a bet. You’re not going to get cold feet and back out, are you?" Liu Ruoi said teasingly.
"? Back out? That’s a laugh!" Zhang Bin declared proudly. "Just set the ti and place. I’ll be there." With that, he turned and strode out the door.
That arrogant fool. He has no idea what he’s up against, daring to compete with Bo Chengye in English. It’s pure stupidity. Shaking her head, Liu Ruoi imdiately took out her phone and called Bo Chengye.
"Bo Chengye, I’m so sorry about what happened earlier. That man is my brother. He’s a farr, so he’s not very cultured... and he’s extrely domineering and arrogant."
"Your brother?" Bo Chengye instantly felt like he’d been lifted from Hell to Heaven.
"My brother said you were short and uneducated, and he forbids from seeing you," Liu Ruoi said. "However, you have an opportunity to prove him wrong..."
Bo Chengye was seething with rage. "Your brother? A little farr with just a high school diploma dares to call —a top graduate from Cambridge University—short and uneducated? And he wants to compete against in English? Watch destroy him! He *will* apologize to !"
