"Break!"
The Genetically Enhanced Human let out an earth-shattering roar. His face was a mask of ferocity as a dazzling golden light erupted from his body. Clearly, he could no longer afford to block or dodge and could only brace himself for the impact, primarily because the formation had slowed his movents considerably.
CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! Several more Flying Swords struck his body, opening fresh wounds from which blood burst forth.
WHIZ!
Zhang Bin’s Blood Fang sliced through the air, fiercely striking the man right between the eyebrows.
SQUELCH!
It pierced straight through his forehead and exited from the back of his skull, carrying a spray of dark red blood with it.
"AAAH!"
The man let out a scream like a pig being slaughtered and fell flat on his back. His head had already exited the Great Array’s range; he was just a fraction of a second away from escaping. But he had been slain by Zhang Bin.
"Hahaha... I’ve killed an SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Human!" Zhang Bin laughed, his face brimming with pride.
He was only a cultivator at the Liquid Phase Middle Stage. By all accounts, he shouldn’t have possessed the ability to kill an SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Human. But within the Great Array, ard with a Middle-Grade Flying Sword, he had seized the opportunity while his opponent was wounded and killed him with a single strike.
With a single surprise attack, leveraging the binding power of the Great Array, they had killed four super-powerful SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Humans. This victory far exceeded their expectations, and they all roared with laughter in excitent.
However, the ten Genetically Enhanced Humans who had escaped the Great Array were covered in wounds and bloodstains. They were both shocked and furious, roaring in uncontrollable rage.
"AAAAH! This is infuriating!"
"Co out! Co out here, and I will devour you!"
"You despicable food! We will kill every last one of you!"
Harold, in particular, was so furious his hair stood on end and the veins on his forehead throbbed. A terrifying killing intent radiated from his body as he yelled frantically, "If you have the guts, co out and see how we’ll deal with you!"
"If you have the guts, co in and see how we’ll kill you," Zhang Bin taunted with a strange laugh from within the array.
"Anyone who doesn’t dare to co in is a coward! A gutless turtle!" Zhao Dawei added, also laughing strangely as the others chid in with jeers.
They all knew that Genetically Enhanced Humans were quick-tempered and easily provoked. There was a good chance they would charge in again, allowing the team to kill a few more.
However, as enraged as the Genetically Enhanced Humans were, they weren’t fools. They didn’t charge in to their deaths. Instead, they retreated to a safe distance.
Then, they retrieved Thermal Weapons from their Space Rings and began frantically firing upon the area shrouded in white mist.
RATATATAT!
A torrential rain of bullets and shells poured into the mist. These were not ordinary bullets and shells; they were the base’s own Thermal Weapons, terrifyingly potent. The sound of booming explosions erupted one after another.
Of course, the bullets and shells were all miraculously diverted outside by the formation’s power, where they harmlessly exploded. This continuous barrage, however, was rapidly depleting the Spirit Stones. Once the stones were exhausted, the formation would beco useless.
These Genetically Enhanced Humans were cunning. If they had used this tactic from the start, Zhang Bin’s group would have had no way to kill the four SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Humans. In truth, their initial response hadn’t been poor. They were simply outmaneuvered by Zhang Hangkui, who had deliberately shrunk the Great Array’s range before suddenly expanding it to trap them inside.
"How long can the Spirit Stones last?" Zhang Bin’s voice, speaking as the Hacker Rabbit King Chen Junheng, suddenly crackled in Zhang Hangkui’s earpiece.
"About an hour," Zhang Hangkui replied.
"An hour?" Zhang Bin’s brow furrowed. To think withstanding such an attack consus Spirit Stones this quickly? We can’t even hold out for two hours? He and Tutu imdiately began to calculate how they could safely reach the base’s core area without being caught by the Genetically Enhanced Humans.
"Prepare to retreat," Zhang Bin ordered, speaking as the Rabbit King. "Zhang Hangkui and Zhou Tianyu will remain behind with one hundred Golden Core Realm Experts. Hold them off for one hour, then begin your own retreat."
With the order given, Zhang Bin, Zhao Dawei, and the main group swiftly exited the formation through another side, entering a new passage that led straight toward the center of the base.
Zhao Dawei walked shoulder to shoulder with Zhang Bin, his face beaming with excitent. "Zhang Bin, my brother," he said, "this is all thanks to you. If you hadn’t gotten us help from the Hacker Rabbit King Chen Junheng, we wouldn’t have been completely wiped out, but very few of us would have escaped. The mission would have been a failure."
"You can still laugh now because you don’t know their true terror," Zhang Bin said with a sigh. "If you did, you wouldn’t be smiling."
"The Genetically Enhanced Humans are terrifyingly powerful," Zhao Dawei said. "That’s why our country must imdiately develop our own SSS-Class Genetically Enhanced Humans. We have to catch up, or our nation is dood."
"Then everyone, co over here," Zhang Bin said, taking out his phone. "Take a good look at the footage the Rabbit King helped record. Then you’ll understand what these Genetically Enhanced Humans really are." He started playing a video, which was the recording of Jack and the others hunting him earlier. It included the mont he was surrounded by eight spider-like creatures, and the earth-shattering secret Jack’s group revealed.
Zhao Dawei, Qian Bing, Sun Tie, and several other Golden Core Realm Experts, along with a few prominent scientists, all gathered to watch. They were horror-struck, so even beginning to shiver uncontrollably.
Genetically Enhanced Humans ate people? They wanted to build their own world, herding humans like cattle and sheep? And they had concealed it all so perfectly that no one had ever discovered they were cannibals?
"Is... is this real?" Zhao Dawei stuttered, his eyes filled with terror and his face pale with lingering fear. If they hadn’t discovered this secret and had brought the Gene Enhancent Technology back ho, China would have ended up creating these sa terrifying demons. Humanity would have been just a few steps away from being raised as livestock.
"I wish it weren’t true, but it is," Zhang Bin sighed. "I told you before that Genetic Enhancent was dangerous, but you wouldn’t believe . However, this trip has yielded a monuntal discovery. We’ve uncovered the true secret and nature of the Genetically Enhanced Humans. Humanity can still pull back from the brink; there is still hope for our survival. Otherwise, in just three more years, humans would have beco nothing more than cattle and sheep."
"This is terrifying... absolutely terrifying," Qian Bing said, wiping cold sweat from his brow. "Could this be the technology the Extraterrestrials are using to try and wipe us out?"
"This base wasn’t left behind by an alien civilization. It was built by the Xing Yue civilization 2.3 billion years ago—they were natives of Earth," Zhang Bin said gravely. "How they went extinct is still a mystery. But I suspect it was because the Xingyue people created their own Genetically Enhanced Humans, which ultimately led them down the path to extinction."
