Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System Chapter 617: Robot Army
At the moon, the robot army AVALANCE fought suddenly beca weaker.
Their movents beco more sluggish. So of them even froze mid-step, as if the command signal had been cut.
AVALANCE noticed it right away.
Squads advanced across the crater field.
BANG!! BOOM!
Rifle fire stitched lines across the horizon, mixed with bursts of mana and flashing spell impacts.
One of their frontliners used a gun that was half weapon, half mana catalyst.
Each shot carried a small spell structure that triggered on impact. Piercing rounds for armor seams. Disruptive rounds for joints. Explosive rounds for clusters.
A heavy shadow moved across the dust.
A giant robot, five tis the size of an average human, stepped out from behind a broken mining tower.
Its armor was thick, layered like a fortress. Scars covered its fra, deep grooves and lted cuts that showed it had survived too many battles.
One shoulder was dented inward. One arm had been rebuilt with uneven plates.
A crack ran across its chest casing, faintly glowing green.
The giant raised its arm.
A cannon structure unfolded from its wrist.
Inside the cockpit, a middle-aged man stared at the cracked display panel.
His face was tired. His eyes were red. His expression looked like soone who had not slept properly for weeks.
"Prof," he said, voice strained, "can't we return now? Aira will worry herself sick."
A calm voice replied through the internal channel.
"Not yet. We still don't know what caused the destruction on Planet Elyndra.
We need to confirm it first. Don't worry about Aira.
With him there, she won't face any problem."
The man's jaw tightened. "Why are you so casual? Don't you know how much she misses you?"
The voice let out a small laugh.
"You're one to talk. We are married, and you still call Prof."
The middle-aged man twitched. His face twisted with frustration.
"Should I call you my wife then? When you suddenly leave out of nowhere, then you beco this chunk of machine!?"
"It was necessary," the voice answered.
"You're insane, Faerith. You really never change."
"Yes," Faerith replied, and her tone softened, "and I'm still your insane wife."
The man sighed, defeated.
This man was Aira's father, Haid.
He had been looking for his wife for a long ti.
Finally, after long planning and effort, after tricking the calyte and working with AVALANCE, he found her.
But she was not human anymore.
Sohow, she had beco this giant robot.
He was at a loss.
If Aira t her like this, she would be hurt.
Then there was another problem. How could he bring a giant robot like this back ho?
In the end, he was stuck here, helping AVALANCE while searching for a thod to cure her back to normal.
Another gruff voice filled the comms.
"Stop with your love talk. Focus on the fight.
The robots seem to have lost their leader.
We should push back now and make sure we clean them all up."
"Yes, Solomon," the man said with a heavy sigh.
Outside, the fight intensified.
The weakened robots stumbled under concentrated fire.
AVALANCE squads shouted orders and pressed forward, morale rising with every collapsing machine.
"They're slowing down!"
"Don't let them regroup!"
"Push! Finish them!"
Energy blasts lit the gray horizon. Spell circles flashed and vanished.
The robot turned to scrap as they still try to fight back.
They last directive is to contain the rebel.
They don't want to fight till death, they want to return for repair and maintenance, and refill their ranks.
Then the sky darkened.
A massive shape slid between the moon and the stars, blotting out the light like a moving continent.
The battlefield went quiet.
Above them, a calyte battleship erged from distorted space, leaking purplish fog as it descended.
The weakened robots on the surface stopped retreating.
They turned their heads toward the ship.
"RUN!!! That's a calyte battleship!" soone scread over open comms.
Inside the cockpit, Haid clicked his tongue.
"I'll buy so ti. You all go."
AVALANCE units began pulling back toward their base, dragging wounded, carrying ammo crates, and switching to defensive formation.
They were preparing for a last stand.
The battleship stopped in the middle of the sky.
The floating rocks around it began to spin and vibrate.
A low hum spread across the moon's surface, deep enough that even through armor and hull plating, everyone felt it in their bones.
The robots' eyes blinked.
The mont the calyte battleship appeared, their protocol changed.
They regained montum and surged forward toward the AVALANCE base.
Then the ship fired.
One of the floating rocks shot out like a railgun.
BOOM!!!!
AVALANCE soldiers who were running suddenly stopped.
Their eyes widened in shock, because the attack did not reach them.
It went Straight into the robot army.
The rock slamd into the center of the tal swarm.
BOOM!!!
Half the robots in that section were ripped apart instantly, from the shockwave.
Limbs and torsos flew across the dust like broken toys.
The shockwave rolled outward, crushing the ones behind it into the ground.
The rock landed in the middle of the crater it created.
Then it began to crack.
Thin glowing lines spread across its surface like veins of light.
BOOM!
The rock exploded into countless pieces.
Shrapnel scattered in every direction.
But the pieces did not keep flying.
Midair, the shrapnel slowed.
It rotated.
It started to change shape.
Fragnts snapped together like magnets finding their match.
In seconds, each cluster ford into a spire-like creature.
Four legs unfolded from the lower body, sharp and jointed.
Their torsos were narrow and tall, like living pylons.
Their heads change into cannon structures, the front forming a hollow barrel with glowing green lines inside.
Four legs stabbed into the moon dust.
They locked in place.
Then the cannons fired.
Boom!
Green beams cut through the robot army.
The robots did not even understand what was killing them.
They tried to push forward, but their formation was already broken.
Their command link was already confused.
They were ordered to support the calyte, but the calyte were attacking them.
The spire golem kept firing.
Each shot punched holes through tal bodies, severing joints, detonating cores, and turning the robot army into scrap faster than AVALANCE could ever do.
Robots collapsed in rows.
Those behind stepped into the wreckage and were cut down next.
The moon's surface filled with burning debris and drifting tal dust.
AVALANCE soldiers stared at the scene, breath caught in their throats.
"Just what's going on?" Haid mumbled in disbelief.
"He's here!!!" Faerith replied with excitent on her voice.
