Brooks Vessilja couldn’t believe his ears.

A lich went down in a mutual destruction with the saintess?

Brooks Vessilja had already been mapping out a plan in his head.

He was going to work with the Holy Capital to track down the lich and personally avenge his beard.

But just as he was beginning to think through the details of his rough plan, he received the news that the lich had already been defeated.

And not even near the Magic Tower, but at the Hill of the Saint near the Holy Capital.

“N-No way… No way...!”

The flas of vengeance that were just about to ignite now wandered aimlessly, having lost their target.

‘What am I supposed to do with this anger, this hatred?’

The mage reporting to Brooks Vessilja saw the disbelief on his face and assud he was feeling guilt.

‘He must be heartbroken that the saintess died because he failed to stop the lich during their first encounter.’

The reporting mage, who still had a full head of hair, couldn’t even begin to imagine what was truly going on in Brooks Vessilja’s heart.

‘Well, at the very least, he should be happy about this next bit of news.’

With that pure intention, the mage continued.

“Master of the Tower, I also have another report to deliver.”

The next news the mage reported was about Gracie.

Gracie, who had traveled to the Holy Capital with Saintess Alia and Paladin Paulen, had taken part in the battle against the lich and played a significant role.

And now, to escort a comrade who fought alongside them, not only the saintess and paladin but also the hero who had helped defeat the lich—

—the Starlight Archer, Nellin, were all heading to the Magic Tower together.

As he gave his report, the mage thought to himself.

A mage from the Magic Tower had made a aningful contribution to the battle against the lich.

Even if she was just a magitech mage, Gracie was known to be receiving special attention and ntorship from the Tower Master.

Brooks Vessilja only pretended to support her because she was a descendant of Ventus, desperately struggling in magitech.

But to other mages, it looked like he was genuinely fond of her.

‘What?! Gracie?! The descendant of Ventus! Is coming back after contributing to the lich’s defeat?! Noooooooo!’

Gracie had played a role in the lich hunt.

No one knew exactly how much, but being escorted by heroes was enough to say it was significant.

Which ant the honor she would receive was no small thing, and that would translate to real achievents.

In other words, even if her thesis didn’t pass, the Frail family wouldn’t need to worry about funding for a while.

‘No! Anything but that!’

The beard that brought joy to his life had been lost to the lich, and now he had even lost the chance for revenge.

And on top of that, the descendant of Ventus, whose downfall he had long awaited, had co back triumphant?

And the Frail family, whom he wanted to see begging for funding, was now about to be stable again?

Brooks Vessilja thought that must never be allowed to happen.

‘I have to stop it—no matter what!’

***

Clop clop.

After wrapping up their business in Chilture, the group traveled by carriage toward the Magic Tower.

It was a deluxe carriage prepared for their departure from the Holy Capital—large enough to carry several people at once.

Normally, a coachman would have co along too, but since that would make it difficult to discuss sensitive matters, everyone in the party had opposed it.

Nellin and Paulen were taking turns driving the carriage, and it was Paulen’s turn now.

Inside the carriage were the new additions Claire and Squishy, bringing the total to eight people and one sli.

“Alright, ti to co up with a plan.”

“A plan?”

“Yeah. We’ve gotta figure out how we’re gonna wreck that bastard.”

That bastard.

She ant Brooks Vessilja—the one who tried to stage Ventus Frail’s death as an accident thirty years ago.

Up until they arrived in Chilture, she’d been too worried about getting separated from Squishy again to think straight.

But now that they were safely reunited, Nellin was ready to plan their revenge in earnest.

“Master, who are we wrecking?”

Claire tilted her head and asked Nellin.

The title “Master” was sothing Nellin had told Claire to use, since she was learning from her.

“Yup. We’re wrecking soone. A really bad guy who tried to kill my friend and then covered it up.”

“I see. I wanna help wreck him too.”

For the sake of the Master who was making her stronger—

Claire was fired up with motivation.

“I appreciate the sentint, but you don’t need to get involved, Gracie.”

“Yes! Nellin!”

“You know the most about the Magic Tower and that guy. Got any good ideas?”

Nellin rembered how Gracie had presented useful opinions at the Great Church and hoped she might do the sa now.

anwhile, Squishy, who was quietly resting on Alia’s lap, was listening intently to the conversation.

And he wasn’t the only one showing interest in the plan.

▷Who are we wrecking?

▶ Squishy just said “wrecking” LOL

[Squishy Queen] ▶My kin! That’s not a good way to speak!

▶Now, say it like this~ Who are we fucking?

▷Who are we fucking?

[Squishy Queen] ▶Don’t teach such savage words to my kin! Have you no sha?

▶ But it’s fun, isn’t it?

▶ Lolllllll

▶ But seriously, who are they going to wreck?

Since the scene just showed the inside of the carriage, the bored viewers were now paying attention to the humans' normally dull conversations.

[Noblesse Fire] ▶ You guys really don’t get it? Obviously, they’re going to wreck that human from the Magic Tower or whatever, the one who locked up Squishy.

[Thread-Lady] ▶Why are they going to kill that human?

[Noblesse Fire] Would they butt in for nothing? That bastard tried to get rid of Squishy, and now they’re going to finish him off. The humans know he tried to harm Squishy, so of course they’re taking him out.

Only the beginning and end were correct; the middle was completely off-track.

But the one in question—Troll—didn’t bother correcting it.

[Free Spirit] ▶They are going to wreck that beardless human nad Brooks Vessilja ᄋᄋ.

[Noblesse Fire] ▶See! Told you I was right!

▶ Sothing still feels off though?

[Squishy Queen] ▶If he tried to harm my kin, then wiping him out is only just! Such a noble act!

That’s when the Orc King chid in.

[Smooth Wind King] ▶Just had a new idea for content. What if I released my minions where those humans are headed? Wouldn’t that make for a fun mud-fight?

[Free Spirit] ▶The Magic Tower is swarming with spellcasting humans, so Squishy won’t even need to lift a finger. They'll wipe your minions out instantly ᄋᄋ. If you just want to watch them get obliterated as a group, go ahead.

[Smooth Wind King] ▶ Damn it.

▶ But what if they get killed by other humans before even arriving?

▶ Lol Just throwing stuff out there~

[Smooth Wind King] ▶ Shut up, all of you!

"First, Master of the Tower… we need to isolate Brooks Vessilja from the other mages."

“If we’re isolating him, does that an we’re revealing the truth the mont we arrive?”

“No, Mr. Godrick. That would put us at a disadvantage. Even if we tell the truth, Brooks Vessilja is still the Master of the Tower. So people will believe him, and while the mages are confused, he might even use that chance to escape.”

“Hah, I get it. You're saying we lure him in with so secret talk and then jump him!”

“P-Pretty much.”

“Wait, I was right? You’re not Hawane, are you?!”

“Don’t be jealous of my brilliant mind, Skol. It’s pathetic.”

“Why you little—”

Smack!

“Argh!”

“Tone it down, Hawane.”

“Yes, ma’am, Nellin.”

“Ahem! Anyway. At first, we have to act like we don’t know anything.”

“Um, do we really have to worry about that? I doubt he thinks we know the truth...”

“Def, you’ve got a point. Still, I figured I should say it in advance.”

“Yeah, it’d be a pain if we got exposed too early because we were careless. So, what’s the detailed plan?”

“I’ll say that we’re too grateful to just let everyone go without a proper send-off. Since both Nellin and the Saintess are famous in the Tower, if we suggest holding a banquet, everyone will agree. Then, once the mood is right… I’ll say I have sothing to tell Brooks Vessilja about the lich.”

“Sothing to tell him? You planning to bring up Ventus?”

“No, that’s a card we save for the very last mont. If I’m going to bring sothing up…Well, I’m still thinking about it. Anyone have a good idea?”

“I do.”

Paulen chid in from the driver’s seat.

“Brooks Vessilja lost his beard to Lord Ventus’s spell that day. He treasured it so much he fainted the mont he lost it, so if we lie and say there’s a way to regrow it, he’ll fall for it.”

“Y-You think so? I an, yeah, he took good care of his beard, but would that really work…”

“No, it definitely will. That was… the last hair he had left.”

“Oh, then yeah. That’ll work.”

“That’ll work.”

“It can’t not work.”

Godrick, Hawane, and Skol all agreed with Paulen.

“R-Really?”

Only Def, who always kept his head shaved, tilted his head in doubt.

“That’s your style anyway, so you wouldn’t understand.”

“True?”

‘Brooks Vessilja?’

Squishy, who had been listening, thought hard about the na.

At first, he didn’t rember him even after hearing it.

But the more he thought, the clearer it beca.

He was the one Gracie called the Master of the Tower.

The one who moved him into a magic circle and created an unbreakable barrier.

And according to Troll, he was the human who tornted Gracie and tried to kill Squishy.

‘A bad human!’

▷Brooks Vessilja! Bad!

▶ What?

▶ Why is Squishy suddenly mad?

▷Gracie! Hurt! ! Tried to kill! Bad!

[Squishy Queen]▶Yes! An utterly vile and unforgivable human!

▷I’ll punish him!

[Noblesse Fire] LOL Taking revenge personally—good stuff.

▶But can Squishy actually beat that human?

▶Wouldn't he have a chance now?

Back then, he couldn’t break the barrier Brooks Vessilja had made, so opinions were split among viewers.

[Thread-Lady]▶But this ti, he has help from the other humans, so wouldn’t it be easier?

▶Everyone knows that! We’re just curious who would win one-on-one.

▶ Still, wouldn’t it be hard for Squishy to do it alone?

▶ That guy seed pretty strong even among humans.

[Squishy Queen]▶You fool! How dare you look down on my kin?!

[Free Spirit]▶You can’t underestimate Brooks Vessilja ᄋᄋ. Squishy probably can’t take him alone right now.

Troll judged things calmly.

As much as Brooks Vessilja was a petty, backstabbing scumbag—

He still had the skill to beco the Master of the Tower.

In fact, Brooks Vessilja was far stronger than an Orc Champion.

‘I want to punish him…’

Coming from Troll, who had sparred with him many tis, those words dampened Squishy’s spirit.

But he quickly bounced back and thought to himself—

‘I’ll get stronger!’

His desire to punish the bad guy who hurt his friend and tried to get rid of him only strengthened his will to grow.

[Noblesse Fire] ▶ Hey. So Troll, are you that human nad Ventus?

▶ ??

▶ ????

[Free Spirit]▶What are you talking about?

[Noblesse Fire] ▶ I an, just listen to the humans. They said the lich who wrecked that guy’s beard—Brooks or whatever—was nad Ventus, right? And let’s be honest, you’re the only one who could’ve pulled that off.
