Now reading: Chapter 66 - 63 Domain Node: Cloud Field2 from Monsters Are Coming, a Game novel by Slashing Blade.

Having just experienced the Dark Cave battle not long ago, upon seeing such a bizarre scene, they subconsciously thought of the Corrosion Core.

According to the Guidance description, the Corrosion Core is a Black Tide abomination naturally generated under the Evil Moon, slowly perating and severely damaging the environnt of the area it forms in.

The Domain Crystal of the Dark Cave battle’s Node Domain had once been entangled and infiltrated by the Corrosion Core.

"Unclear, let’s keep going and have a look."

minutes later, the two of them passed through a patch of withered Fluorescent Grass, and the view in front suddenly opened up.

Deep in the dense forest lay an enormous field divided into squares. All the Spirit Plants growing within had withered away, and the air was filled with a faint stench. In the center of the field hovered a aty, pulsating Corrosion Core.

The tendrils spreading from the core, like a spider’s web, covered the surface of the field, absorbing the earth’s power to nourish itself.

The Challenger Tips rang out at this mont:

[Challenger Tips: "Cloud Field" Domain Node discovered.]

With the Challenger Tips, the fog in the center of the Gray Mist Forest Region on the map dispersed, and the location of the Corrosion Core was marked with a black tumor icon.

The two players focused their gaze on the Spirit Field ahead, with more detailed introduction information presented in their minds:

[Cloud Field]

Territory Type: Resource

Territory Characteristics: Accelerated Growth

Characteristics Introduction: Significantly speed up the growth rate of Spirit Plants within the coverage area of the node, with Level 1 Spirit Plants maturing in 3-5 days.

Domain State: Ensnared by Corrosion Core

...

They had only speculated, sensing from the environntal changes that there might be a Corrosion Core ahead.

But they did not expect their speculation to beco reality.

Here truly was an uncontained Node Domain.

"Monkey, if we smash the Corrosion Core, the two of us can enjoy the Purification reward alone, we’re really going to strike it rich," one player said excitedly.

"Don’t be rash; there’s definitely danger near the Corrosion Core, don’t rush in and get killed," the player nicknad Monkey replied with caution.

"There are no Curse Soldiers here; the brave will prosper, and the timid will starve. It’s just a ga - what’s there to fear? You’re too cowardly, let’s do this."

Saying this, the lead player decisively walked towards the Spirit Field.

Seeing this, Monkey had no choice but to follow.

Although he believed deep down that the Corrosion Core could not be easily destroyed and there must be hidden dangers, he still chose to follow his comrade’s footsteps.

The two moved forward slowly, gradually approaching the Corrosion Core.

As they got within a hundred ters of the Corrosion Core, the leading player spoke on the voice channel:

"Monkey, Monster Form."

As soon as the words were spoken, the two players shifted into Monster Forms, their bodies twisting and morphing into a stone-statue ghost and a Bone Fire Form, respectively.

Lifting his hand, the lead player’s hands ignited with inky flas, quickly expending spiritual power to gather a ter-wide Fireball.

But he didn’t rush to attack:

"Monkey, you take the lead, I’ll follow up with the attack."

With resignation, Monkey charged towards the Corrosion Core, and at that mont, the leading player launched the Fireball, flying straight for the Corrosion Core.

This was the simple tactic the pair used during external Hunting: one to take damage, the other to deal it.

But just as the inky Fireball was about to hit the Corrosion Core, the black tumor suddenly contracted and then spewed a vast amount of dark fog from its top, rapidly forming a barrier.

The Fireball struck the barrier, the dark fog boiling violently, but it failed to break through the defense.

Then, a tendril burst forth from the tumor and rapidly grew, whipping the running player into the air.

The once dormant Corrosion Core was fully activated by the external threat.

The resulting transformation of the scene stunned the two players.

The silent land, like a door to the Abyss being opened, sprouted countless black corrupted plants, awakening like demons from the cracks on the ground, exuding an evil aura.

These plants had stems twisted like snakes, leaves as dark as ink, surfaces covered in sticky decay, and they grew in a frenzied, devil-may-care rhythm, entwining with each other, weaving into dense, impenetrable black nets, swallowing all the scant light in the vicinity.

The air was filled with the nauseating sll of dampness and rot, accompanied by the rustling sounds of plants growing rapidly, as if whispered by demons.

The chaotic scene resembling a dance of demons brought a strong visual shock to the two players.

They had no ti to escape before they were entwined and constricted by the corrupted plants, their vision soon shrouded in darkness.

...

Primordial Altar.

Seeing the death of the two players, Qi Sheng was not surprised.

Each Corrosion Core possessed a strong territorial consciousness and would actively attack all life outside the Black Tide System.

The two players alone had no chance of purifying this Domain Node.

But now that he had discovered this Domain, Qi Sheng decided to release a new Purification task to all players.

He modified the rewards for the task based on the Territory Characteristics of the Spirit Field.

Although Cloud Field is a resource-oriented Domain, it differs significantly from the Dark Cave.

This Domain Node needed Spirit Plants to be cultivated for resource production, so it couldn’t be fully open to all players after containnt.

Otherwise, it could easily lead to disputes over the ownership of Spirit Plants and the rights to use the fields, among other issues.

So for this Purification task, he simply used the Spirit Field as the reward chip and released the latest task.

A new system-wide alert then sounded in the minds of all players:

[Challenger Tips (System-wide): "Cloud Field" Domain Node discovered. Occupying the Domain Node will grant substantial rewards.]

Task Objective: Contain the Cloud Field Domain Node

Task Reward: Rights to use a section of the Spirit Field

Detailed Introduction: The Purification task rewards will be distributed based on Contribution Value ranking. The top 1000 players will be granted a small plot in the Cloud Field, which can be used for planting and cultivating Spirit Plants (Spirit Plant Seeds can be purchased through the store function panel).

Spirit Field Characteristic Introduction: Can significantly accelerate the growth rate of Spirit Plants.

Task Duration: Infinite (Until the Node is occupied)

...

The release of the Purification task imdiately drew the attention of a large number of players.

Players started to discuss hotly in the forums and regional voice channels.

"Eh? Only the top 1000 highest contributors get rewards for this Purification task. Isn’t this bound to be out of reach for a noob like , slls of elitism, right (God of Wealth enraged.jpg)"

"In the early stages, you really shouldn’t sell sacrificial power; you need to use it to enhance your strength. Now the ti has co to reap the rewards, go for it, I must get a piece of the Spirit Field, it’s a permanent reward!"

"Damn, this Spirit Field is a good thing, being assigned a plot ans you can just lie back and harvest Spirit Plants in the future, farm enthusiasts rejoice, I’m a college student and I’m reserving a plot!"

"Brother upstairs, doesn’t matter if you’re a college student, without strength you don’t get a share of the Spirit Field, beast (Qi Die’s disdainful gaze.jpg)"

"I’m not going, I’ve only been playing the ga for a few days, at this point I can’t even defeat Blood Corpses, better to continue teaming up and hunt Blood Corpses, and also look for a strong guild willing to take in newbies."

...

The discussion among players about this Purification task was polarized.

Strong players were thrilled, believing the task would bring them substantial returns.

Weaker players, upon seeing the task introduction, knew the reward was out of their reach and had no intention of participating.

During this period, various guilds organized their mbers, preparing to head to the newly opened map region "Gray Forest" to grind for Purification task Contributions.

However, as players entered deeper into the Gray Forest and saw the demonically infested scenes above the Cloud Field, their enthusiasm quickly died out.

The reason was simple.

The Cloud Field, controlled by the Corrosion Core, was ho to a large number of corrupted plants with Hunting Levels of 30-45, which were far beyond the players’ current strength to contend with.

After so guilds attempted to use Spiritual Bombs, they found that although the bombs could cause so damage to the corrupted plants, the effect was nowhere near as useful as they had imagined, with all the corrupted plants having a strong self-healing ability, rendering the tactic of whittling down their health with Spiritual Bombs aningless.

Only when having overwhelmingly superior strength could they contain the "Cloud Field" Domain Node.

The major guilds each chose to give up for the ti being.

But the potential gains from the Cloud Field sparked the motivation of the strong players to level up and beco more powerful.
