"Okay, okay, you really are a good child." Mr. Shen nodded repeatedly upon hearing this.
He couldn’t wish for anything better, because relying on Shen Lingfeng was almost impossible.
"Is Mr. Gu busy?" Mr. Shen tentatively asked with a smile.
"Yes, Mr. Gu is very busy. Is there anything you need from him?"
"No, no," Mr. Shen laughed. "I just wanted to offer my congratulations in person."
Mu Xing politely nodded, without engaging much further with him.
His intentions were too transparent, no wonder his son didn’t look kindly upon him.
"Who is that?" Mu Xing only took a few steps away before a tall man leisurely holding a wine glass blocked her path.
Bai Lingyun squinted slightly, glancing at the man who just had a sycophantic smile on his face.
Mu Xing stopped and replied, "That’s Mr. Shen, Shen Lingfeng’s father, whom we had dinner with last ti. The Young Madam invited him, then asked Miss You to entertain her classmate. I just brought Miss You over."
After answering, she felt there was no need to explain so much to him.
"If there’s nothing else, I have things to attend to. I’ll be off." She turned to leave as soon as she finished speaking.
"Wait." The simple two-word command made her imdiately stop in her tracks.
Bai Lingyun downed the champagne in his hand and placed it on a servant’s tray. "The busy things you’re doing are entertaining the guests, right? Sa here for ."
She looked at him without speaking, wondering why he didn’t consider himself a re guest. There was nothing special to entertain.
On top of that, her previous words had just been a pretext to brush him off.
Bringing Miss You over was just a casual remark by the Young Madam. Her main task today was to observe if there were any lurking dangers at the wedding, or any ill-intentioned people.
But because of strict guest checks, this task was essentially redundant.
"You don’t want to entertain ?" He raised his finely-shaped eyebrows, his eyes showing a trace of surprise as he looked at her. "Are you avoiding ?"
"Why would I avoid you?" Mu Xing retorted confidently.
Damn it, every ti she saw him, her heart raced, her mind was a ss, and she couldn’t think of anything.
So, she just wanted to slip away imdiately so she could focus on her work. What if there really was so danger at this wedding?
Bai Lingyun recalled how he hadn’t seen her in a while and wanted to ask about it.
But as the words reached his lips, suddenly, he changed it to, "In that case, I’ll go find Wanwan myself."
"No!" Mu Xing reacted particularly quickly this ti. "You can’t go, the Young Madam is in the middle of her makeup."
Bai Lingyun curved his lips in a smile and said, "So?"
"In short, you can’t go. The Young Madam is the bride today, what exactly are you here for?" Mu Xing argued.
"Mr. Gu never said I couldn’t et with Lu Wanwan, right? Why are you opposing it?" he asked playfully.
"It’s my duty to prevent ill-intentioned people from approaching the Young Madam."
"When was I ever ill-intentioned? What dirty things are you thinking in your head?"
Mu Xing was dumbfounded. When had she ever thought anything dirty?
Still, better safe than sorry.
"I..."
"If you’re not confident, co with ."
Mu Xing shook her head.
"You won’t let go?"
"No!"
Bai Lingyun was silent for a mont, "Alright."
Mu Xing abruptly looked up. "You agreed so readily?"
"But if you accompany to see soone else, then I’ll agree." His gaze carried a hint of teasing, continuing to speak as he faced her puzzled look, "Do you rember, last ti in front of Grandmother, you admitted with your own words that you were my girlfriend?"
