“What will you do after you’re done?”
Xu Yuan found it strange that she suddenly fell silent, prompting him to ask again.

She hesitated for only a mont before stepping into the elevator.
She dared not look in that direction, but peripherally, she saw him standing lazily by the control panel.
After she entered, he raised his hand and pressed the close button.

To act as if they didn’t know each other and ignore him was also sothing she had considered. Although awkward, if it were just a passing mont, she might choose to pretend she hadn’t seen him.
But now, the two of them were alone in this tiny space with no one else around.
Even their breaths were clearly audible, and a casual glance could easily fall on the other person.

Lu Wanwan lifted her head and glanced at the jumping numbers in the elevator.
The eleventh floor.
With fifty-two floors in total, they were still forty-one floors away.
The forty floors in the elevator felt endlessly long.
Lu Wanwan clenched the phone she had just hung up in her hand, sweat beginning to form in her palm.
After six years, she thought she had developed a heart as tough as a diamond through those years of hardships.
Little did she know, that diamond heart was not so durable after all. Just seeing him twice, was she really that nervous?
Suddenly, the phone vibrated, nearly startling her.
Feeling awkward, she picked up the phone, deciding to pretend to be busy with it until reaching her floor.
“Did you go to MG?” Bai Lingyun sent.
“In the elevator, about to et the big boss. Have you arrived in Manchester?”
“Got here early this morning, carried two suitcases out myself.”
“Mr. Bai, don’t make it so obvious with your complaints, soone was there to pick you up right outside the airport. I also arrived yesterday and slept in the morning.”
“I’m just saying.”

After a few exchanges, Bai Lingyun stopped replying.
Lu Wanwan glanced at the elevator floor indicator but continued looking at her phone.
Actually, she wasn’t really absorbing any of the words on the screen, instead silently praying for the elevator to move faster.
She had originally been standing at the back of the elevator, behind Gu Annan, which sowhat eased the psychological burden of facing him.
Only when the elevator reached the fifty-first floor did Lu Wanwan feel relieved enough to move towards the elevator doors, planning to leave as soon as they opened.
Just as the number jumped to fifty-two, she let out a sigh of relief.
This prolonged ordeal was finally coming to an end.
Just as she was about to exit the mont the doors opened,
suddenly, the whole elevator went dark.
Along with a sound signaling the halt of its operation, the elevator gently shook.
“Snap!” She got startled, and the phone slipped from her palm.
At that mont, she even thought the elevator might fall.
Gu Annan furrowed his brows, looked at the now dark elevator buttons, then slightly turned his head and glanced down at the woman who had soft legs in that instant, picking up her phone from the ground.
