Lu Wanwan simply nodded, without saying much.
She thought about the recent scandal that was giving everyone headaches. Wei Cheng was just a director, and as for Xiao Lang, the na alone indicated a close connection to Xiao Ye.
Luckily it was just an interview. Although Xiao Ye’s interviews were rare, they were not such a big deal to her. If it ca to that, she could simply turn it down.
It wasn’t until she arrived at the restaurant that she understood why Gu Annan had asked her what ti she got off work in the morning, and why he had called her at this ti in the afternoon.
Because he had made a reservation for their al.
She knew this restaurant required advance booking to secure a table, so it couldn’t have been a spontaneous decision.
With these thoughts in mind, she lifted her eyes.
Turning to look at Gu Annan’s expression, that calm and composed man appeared sowhat at a loss when faced with two children.
Fortunately, Little Youyou was always lively and particularly fond of him. Otherwise, as far as she knew, Gu Annan had no clue how to interact with children.
Lu Wanwan was eating ice cream while rembering a long ti ago, when Gu Annan was seventeen or eighteen, being pestered by a child of a few years old in a restaurant.
It was also a little girl, soft and sticky, who took to him imdiately and ran over from the table next door.
Ji Shaoyang was watching the spectacle at the ti, saying he didn’t know how to deal with children. He had always ignored other people’s children, especially those he didn’t know.
Later on, it turned out exactly as Ji Shaoyang had predicted. Without having to speak, Gu Annan’s aloof and chilly gaze was enough to intimidate the child.
The mother from the next table ca over apologetically to carry the child away, and the little girl could only stealthily glance at him from a distance, not daring to approach.
Lu Wanwan had once doubted whether Gu Annan’s reluctance to have children was because he simply didn’t like them.
Now though, she didn’t know.
But perhaps there was no choice in the matter. She had never given him the opportunity to choose.
The decision from beginning to end had been made by her alone.
Although she had never regretted it, she still felt a bit guilty.
"Mommy!" Little Youyou’s incessant chatter suddenly turned towards her, blinking her bright big eyes, "You’ve eaten a lot of ice cream! But you said not to eat too much ice cream at once!"
Her voice was so aggrieved, it was practically an accusation of her not following the rules.
But for a mont, she didn’t know whom to report this to.
She and her brother were just children; they couldn’t discipline Mommy. And Uncle Gu, he seed unable to discipline Mommy, too.
"..." Lu Wanwan paused mid-motion, holding the spoon and feeling a tad awkward.
She had always led by example, but she had suddenly zoned out and forgotten that.
Last ti she shared a table with both her precious ones and Gu Annan was at the restaurant on Gale Island.
Back then, her mind was entirely occupied by the unpredictability of the situation, and she hadn’t thought too deeply about it.
Now, seeing Gu Annan with them, she felt sothing special.
So with each bite of ice cream, she had no recollection of how much she had eaten.
"Mommy!" Little Youyou, who loved ice cream, seized the opportunity to retaliate, "You broke the rules!"
Little Momo said slowly, "Mommy, you were daydreaming while eating ice cream. Did you forget how much you ate?"
Lu Wanwan coughed lightly, feeling exposed, "Actually..."
"I’ll punish her for you," Gu Annan said as he took the ice cream from her hands, "to ensure she doesn’t break the rules again in the future."
"How will Uncle Gu punish?"
