Being summoned over such a petty matter made Nora Ainsworth seriously wonder if Mrs. Lynch was simply bored out of her mind.
She walked out the main gate of the Lynch Family estate. Not seeing Quentin Grant’s car, she started to breathe a sigh of relief. But she hadn’t gone far before she saw the very car she’d been hoping to avoid.
She had no choice but to step back into the lion’s den.
He didn’t say a word and just drove off.
He parked in an upscale residential complex.
They both got out of the car. Nora kept her head down, feeling very guilty.
They walked into the courtyard.
Nora Ainsworth cried out, her voice strained, "Lord Grant, what will it take for you to leave alone?! I am your future wife’s sister."
He turned back, his eyes fixing on her face. "So what?"
’It’s impossible to communicate with soone who isn’t even human.’
Suddenly, she had a flash of inspiration.
"Quentin—shall we play a ga?"
He stopped. "What kind of ga?"
Nora waved her hand. "You don’t know how to play. Let teach you, okay? It’s really exciting."
He grunted in assent and got off her. Nora went to the storeroom to find a rope, then said to him, "Lie down over there. I’ll demonstrate for you."
Quentin Grant wasn’t the least bit afraid she would tie him up and run away.
He lay there as Nora used the rope to tie his wrists and ankles. Once she was sure he couldn’t struggle free, she said, "I’m going to get the props. Just a minute."
She didn’t run. She really did go get the props.
She used a lighter to light a candle, and Quentin Grant’s expression changed instantly.
"Nora Ainsworth! What do you think you’re doing?"
"Playing the ga, of course. Don’t move. I’ll be very careful."
Quentin Grant’s eyes darkened, and all the playfulness vanished from his voice. "Untie . We’re not playing anymore."
Nora was determined to teach him a lesson; this was a rare opportunity. She pretended not to notice his cold expression and kept a radiant smile on her face.
"I won’t do anything reckless," she said. She sat on his legs, holding the candle over his stomach. Under Quentin Grant’s furious, teeth-grinding gaze, she let a drop of wax fall onto his belly. His stomach muscles twitched. He looked at Nora Ainsworth with murder in his eyes.
"Nora Ainsworth!" Quentin Grant growled. "Let go right now, and I’ll forget this ever happened. Otherwise, I’ll make you regret you were ever born!"
For so reason, a sliver of fear crept into her heart. When he smiled, she couldn’t sense his ruthless nature at all. But now, he was terrifying without even being angry. It was an innate, commanding presence.
She quickly tossed the candle aside, not daring to look him in the eye.
She let out a dry laugh and played dumb. "Quen—tin, what just happened? How did you get tied up? Here, let get you untied."
She scurried over to untie him. ’It was just a mont of satisfaction,’ she realized, ’but he’s the real boss here. If he decides to destroy , I’m toast!’
’I hope it’s not too late...’
Nora Ainsworth was starting to regret her actions. ’What was I even thinking?!’
The mont she untied him, just as she’d feared, he slapped her across the face. She looked up at him, feeling wronged. "If I knew you were going to do that, I wouldn’t have untied you."
His eyes were dark, his lips pressed into a thin line. "The candle, was it? Would you like to try it?"
Nora shook her head. "No, thanks. I’m good since you already tried it."
"Hmph."
Still lying down, he suddenly pulled her down, and the two of them were lying side-by-side.
Surprisingly, nothing else happened.
"I want to go ho."
