In front of the father of such a scheming woman, how could she possibly tell the truth.
"Do you really not know Nicholas?" Henry furrowed his brow, scrutinizing Sophie, "Then why did you suddenly burst into the private room and attack Lara?"
"I don’t like her, is that not okay?" Sophie raised an eyebrow disdainfully, Henry sighed helplessly, "Sophie, no matter how jealous you are of Lara, she’s your sister. Do you know if I didn’t suppress this, you’d probably face a lawsuit."
"Let it be, what’s the big deal!" Sophie snorted indifferently, Henry sighed again helplessly, "You child, no matter what you’re still my daughter, how could I just watch you go to jail!"
After speaking, he took a card from his suit pocket and pushed it in front of Sophie, "Here’s so money... don’t live too hard."
"Thanks, I’m doing fine, don’t need it." Sophie refused expressionlessly, then grabbed a backpack over her shoulder, "If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving!"
Having said that, she got up and walked towards the entrance of the café without a trace of nostalgia. A man unwilling to spend money for her mother’s treatnt, she didn’t care for his charity.
After leaving the café, Sophie found a beauty salon. Nicholas said that if she had a butterfly tattooed on her chest, it would surely be beautiful.
With full of joy and expectation, Sophie chose a butterfly design she was satisfied with. But after it was done, she regretted it; her chest was burning with pain and even swelled up.
In the evening, she took leave from the night manager and lay on Nicholas’s lap, pouting and whining for him to blow on it. Nicholas patiently comforted her, his thin lips lightly breathing on it until she fell asleep, then lied beside her and slept with her.
As spring turned to sumr, a season full of vitality and beauty, Sophie fell ill, feeling dizzy, nauseous, and listless.
She thought she had caught a cold, so she casually bought so capsules. But after taking them for a few days without any improvent, her condition worsened, and she felt nauseated by disliked foods, rushing to the bathroom to vomit repeatedly.
Aunt Wang, an experienced woman, hesitantly said to her husband, "Sir, could Miss Lara be pregnant? Otherwise, why would she vomit so severely?"
Under Nicholas’s firm insistence, Sophie agreed to go to the hospital with him, where she underwent an ultrasound and urine test. After a series of examinations, Evander looked at the case file, furrowing his brows.
"Evander, how is it? Is Lara... expecting?" Nicholas’s expression was evidently tense, asking urgently before Evander could say anything.
Evander opened the drawer of his desk, placed the case file inside, looked at Sophie, who clung to Nicholas with a smile, and said, "Little Sophie, feeling uncomfortable? Let big sis give you an IV; you won’t vomit so much afterward."
After speaking, he instructed the nurse who had just delivered the file, "Hang an IV for her."
"Director, what IV should we hang?" The nurse didn’t react imdiately, and Evander suddenly turned serious and said displeasedly, "You’ve worked in the hospital for so many years, do I still need to teach you what kind of IV each patient needs?"
"Yes, Director, I understand." The nurse glanced apologetically at the girl limp in Nicholas’s arms, then smiled at Sophie, saying, "Co on, little girl, with an IV, you won’t vomit so much."
"I don’t want to move," Sophie clung to Nicholas’s arms, refusing to get up. Nicholas, being astute, sensed that Evander hesitated to address Sophie’s condition, realizing it wasn’t simple. He kissed her forehead softly, saying gently, "Go on, after the IV you’ll feel better."
