Nicholas Croft accompanied Beatrice Hargrave to the mall and bought a lot of stuff before heading back. They didn’t invite a few good friends to celebrate, nor did they share the news of their marriage certificate with anyone. The two were just this willful, not even celebrating at a restaurant outside.
Nicholas gave the housekeeper a day off and prepared a delicate dinner himself.
While he cooked at the stove, Beatrice held him from behind like a conjoined twin, peeking out from under his arm as he washed vegetables, made salads, and fried steak...
In the villa, it wasn’t as brightly lit as before, as if the power was out, with only a candelabra illuminated the dining table.
The dinner wasn’t particularly lavish: two heart-shaped steaks, a salad, and Beatrice’s favorite chicken wings.
At the rectangular dining table, the two sat face to face. The casually dressed man gracefully cut the steak, and under the flickering candlelight, the contours of his handso face appeared even more deep and alluring.
A forehead that was full, dense eyebrows, a tall nose, and thin yet beautifully shaped lips.
The lines of the chin were particularly charming—not square or overly sharp, just perfect. The most captivating was the occasional glance he lifted, with gentle eyes that shimred as if scattered with tiny stars.
Beatrice admitted she was a lover of looks. From the first ti she boldly kissed this man, her little heart had been restless.
As she cut the steak, she would occasionally sneak a peek at the man opposite, biting her lip in secret delight, which left Nicholas helpless. He paused his steak-cutting, raised his eyes, and sighed.
"Since you like watching, I’ll let you have enough of a look. Eat your dinner first; the steak won’t taste good if it gets cold."
"Mmm." Beatrice nodded heavily, unable to hide the joy in her heart even with pursed lips. Seeing her inattentive as she cut the steak, Nicholas helplessly shook his head again, cutting his steak into pieces and placing them in front of Beatrice.
"Eat this one."
"Thank you, uncle!" Beatrice pursed her lips, looking at Nicholas, who at twenty-one still didn’t know how to conceal her emotions, her happiness and sweetness were written all over her face. Nicholas slightly raised his eyebrows.
"We’ve already gotten our certificate, and you’re still calling ’uncle’?"
Beatrice blinked in confusion, "If I don’t call you ’uncle,’ what should I call you?"
"Call ’husband.’
These three words spilled from Nicholas’s thin lips, deep and magnetic, sounding very pleasant.
Facing Nicholas’s star-like black eyes, Beatrice bit her lip and shyly called, "Husband..."
After knowing this man for so many years, it was the first ti she felt shy.
"Good, say it again," Nicholas’s eyes changed with Beatrice’s call, slowly darkening like ink spreading, as if dyed with ink, turning his pupils deep like a dark pool, gazing at her, his sexy Adam’s apple rolling up and down, his voice also beca a bit husky.
Seeing the obvious change in the man, Beatrice mischievously smiled and said, "I won’t say it, if I keep saying it, forget about enjoying dinner properly."
After finishing, she raised her eyebrows and forked a piece of steak into her mouth, her eyes filled with pride as she chewed.
"Little rascal!" Nicholas took a deep breath, gritting his teeth as he cursed under his breath, then forked so chicken wings onto her plate. "Eat more, so you have the energy to satisfy later."
Beatrice directly picked up a chicken wing with her hand, took a bite, and provocatively said to the man across from her, "It’s not certain who’ll be satisfying who!"
